There's really no need, since this thread is about Xbox and Cube
-
Black and white could be better, but it's pretty much just two extra buttons that PS2 (which is more similar to the Xbox S than the Cube's controller) doesn't have. It's sort of a bonus. As it stands, they're pretty easy to get used to.

The Cube controller is quite comfortable and fairly intuitive, but there are a few things that bug me about it, an I think the Xbox controller (the S of course, not The Duke) is on the whole better designed and more versatile. For example, the Cube has that ridiculous spring-operated Z button that seems contructed that way for no particular reason, and then on top of that there isn't even a matching one on the other side--they could have just put one there for consistency's sake and then they would have had two shoulder buttons in case developers wanted them. Also, the D-pad is way too small (it's about the same size as a GBA D-pad) and again it's not clear why they did it that way. Also, the yellow c-pad (or whatever it's called) is great for some games, but seems a bit too specialized. This is my main problem with the Cube's controller: when it's good, it's great, but too often it just doesn't feel well-rounded enough. Since Microsoft introduced the S controller, I think the Xbox has the first controller I've really liked since the PS1 controller (and the PS2 controller obviously since it's the same). It feels very solid, and the analog sticks are probably the best I've ever used. It also has plenty of buttons but isn't overwhelming. The only extra thing I think it could feasable use is two extra shoulder buttons, but that many buttons overall might be overkill.

Nothing is more retarded than the "pre-order" system in gaming retail.
Chris replied to Jake's topic in Video Gaming
Like I said earlier, I think you're just being too hard on the guys. He sees you picking up the game, he's making a comment that relates, and it's a comment that honestly is not the type of thing your average retail register monkey would know. I'm just saying it wouldn't really bother me that he has some sort of knowledge of adventure games and was trying to have some kind of conversation. After all, bringing up cancelled sequels couldn't possibly help the store sell more games. -
To be fair, Trep, it just seemed like you were being critical of getting too excited about the game for some reasons (reasons which are actually qualifiable by the trailer) but then getting excited yourself for other reasons (reasons which cannot actually be justified with a trailer). Anyway, it's not really a big deal, and I'm sorry I made it out to be earlier. Let's all be friends again.

I've actually read the official Electronics Boutique customer service manual, and they do in fact inform their employees about 11 year old graphics adventure games and the cancellations of their doomed sequels, and to mention these things to customers at every opportunity. -
I think we know that, Trep. However, at this point I think it's perfectly reasonable to have an appreciation for the gorgeous art direction. I haven't seen anyone in this thread mention polygons or anti-aliasing or anything. Just because people are using terms like "kick ass" does not represent a lack of appreciation at anything below the surface level. In fact you yourself are coming off as rather fanboyish: "this game (if you can even categorize it as such) will transcend the typical conventions and dogma of a what a game is." Slow down, cowboy. Just because everyone else isn't using SAT words doesn't mean they can't be excited.

It's worth bearing in mind though that with most Xbox games that are exclusive when they launch, it generall takes quite a while for them to make it to PC. Obviously this is irrelevant for games that are already out on PC but it will affect new games. Also, just because one system has an exclusive game doesn't mean he'll like those exclusive games--the Cube's exclusives are more likely to be the "mario franchise and cuteness" he's not fond of. Also: Psychonauts! Yes, this is coming out for PC as well, but I strongly suspect it won't be a simultaneous launch (considering how long the Xbox one has been in development and how recently the port was likely started). I think anyone can reasonably assume the Xbox controller will be better for it than a keyboard/mouse.

Calm the hell down, man. Most people at game stores don't give a fuck if you shop there or not, since it doesn't affect them either way. If they want to be nice, let them be nice. Saying half a dozen bloody words that have a direct connection to the game you just bought isn't doing you any harm. I'm going to go out on a limb here that you complained your ass off when Sam and Max 2 was cancelled so what gives you the right to bring it up and not a guy whose job is in the game retail industry? -
I own all three consoles but only brought the Xbox to school with me and it's serving me fine (Live is a good feature, for example). However, it's still a tough call. Go to GameSpot and something and look at their top ranked games for each system, see if the Cube has enough to keep you interested. Ever played Pikmin (and/or Pikmin 2)? There's no reason I bring it up other than it is awesome and only on the Cube.

Oh man, the footage looks fantastic. The trailer was kind of poorly done but screw it. Seeing that stuff in action was great.
-
Well, there's pretty much even less you can do about that...
-
Man, this game is still hard as fuck...

Yes. Like Tony of Revolution said over at AG, this is not BS4 or something, it's a separate project that is only a speculation right now. I suggest voting purely on interest.

Scrapland is creator-owned?? That's pretty awesome.

Just because you specifically went out of your way to say "I will most likely read some other book instead." You could have left that out entirely and just said "I'm not planning on reading Mein Kampf" but by qualifying it the way you did (in the singular) it sounds like you're saying "instead of reading this one book, I will read another (one) book."
