  1. Holy Moly, or how valve wants my soul

    Oh man that sounds tasty.
  2. Holy Moly, or how valve wants my soul

Well, yeah, they differ in size in that they come with a different number of games... And if you get the Steam ones, you'll have to download everything since you're getting it over Steam. They'll probably be using their streaming delivery method for certain bits, though, but I don't know which exactly.

Then don't buy it... You can still buy a regular boxed version from VU that will be priced like a regular game, or you can buy the regular non-boxed Steam version that doesn't cost 110 euro. The "gold" package is clearly for people who are not outraged by it. And it does come with a good amount of stuff that is way beyond anything I've seen offered in any sort of game "collector's edition" before.
  4. Maybe we're being too hard on the guy... Look how well-received he was at the UGO PSX Forums...
  5. Yeah, but you're saying "some of this stuff" as if some of it is more acceptable than others, whereas where you and I differ is that for me the changes bother me in general, not specific things like whether lightsabers are fixed. I just mean the whole tampering thing bothers me in principle. As you probably know, though, I'm not trying to tell you to do anything any particular way, I'm just not going to buy the DVDs myself. Fortunately even if I didn't mind the changes I don't think I'll be able to justify spending $40 on DVDs for quite some time anyway, so it's a moot point.
  6. in-movie question about Shaun

I'm pretty sure that's not what he's referring to...
  7. in-movie question about Shaun

I noticed that as well, but you could always look at like this: Shaun and Ed were totally piss drunk at the time, and probably forgot all about it, and so did the movie. Perhaps!
  8. Even little clean-ups I think are kind of sad in a way, in that from now on there will be generations of movie watchers who will grow up and never be able to look at Star Wars in its 1977 revolutionary context in the same way. The films are no longer completely a product of 1977, utterly surpassing their contemporaries in many visual ways, they now has the "benefit" of hindsight and are the mixed and matched children of an absurd number of revisions, however minor. The New Special Editions, or whatever they're called, simply don't have the identity of the original films. And Jake, you're right to an extent that this attitude can be taken too far, but the Star Wars films are great for a multitude of reasons, and I think at least some of those reasons are dulled or even lost in revisions. Stuff like Jabba not showing up until the third film is a great decision in terms of structure and suspense and subtly building up a legend in the viewers' minds, but that's stuff that obviously didn't need to be changed. Even extensive lightsaber clean-ups kind of bother me because they take the films out of their home turf. And I don't say these things out of some wacky Star Wars fanboyism; I would have the exact same attitude to such changes made towards any film of great historical significance. EDIT: Before Kingz calls me on it, yes this post was longer than it needed to be. Whoops.
  9. I'm still going to hold out and keep my VHS trilogy. I just have way too strong an objection to the DVDs. I don't doubt I'll be able to do it, too.
  10. Edge restyling?

    WHAt???
  11. Edge restyling?

They're just stringing you along. Soon it'll be a January restyling, then February, then May, then Edge Forever.
  12. Well, he finished the game yesterday and it was fresh enough for him the whole way through, so I'm just passing his opinions along.
  13. Gmail invites

YES, DAMNIT. I am also aware that it is quite possibly the deadest horse on the internet.
  14. On the "scaring the shit out of you" front, it's pretty funny to watch my friend play Doom 3. He's a pretty big guy and it's great to see him twitch back and go "Holy shit!" at various moments while playing the game.
  15. Gmail invites

Man, I bet that guy spends hours upon hours tabulating those scores for every word and brand he knows, then posting about it on internet forums claiming it "explains everything".
  16. No problem. Next up, I spoil more classic gaming moments when I reveal that the experiment in Half-Life goes wrong, and aliens invade Black Mesa.
  17. I've been playing Far Cry alongside one of my friends playing Doom 3, and he says the thing that really keeps him going in Doom 3 is waiting to get the next weapon. Since ammo conservation is actually an issue in the game, he's really appreciating the progression of weapons. Also, getting into Hell put a pretty big spin on the environments.
  18. Psychonauts.com redesigned

The problem isn't on your end, it's on your ISP's end. You'll just have to wait until they refresh it, but it shouldn't take any longer than a couple days.
  19. Psychonauts.com redesigned

Your ISP's DNS info hasn't refreshed or something.
  20. Psychonauts.com redesigned

    You guessed it!
  21. Psychonauts.com redesigned

    Wooooo
  22. Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge flies!

I've been playing this game over Live since I got my subscription about a month ago. It's pretty much awesome. The multiplayer is really smooth and I can see myself getting a lot of replay value out of it.
  23. Murder Mystery Half-Life 1 Mod?

What's the purpose of the friends list? Just so you know if other people are playing Steam games? I've never used it so I have no idea.
  24. attention!

    Gahh!
  25. Katamari Damacy trailer

    Good idea!
