Weird.

Man, that sounds like an awesome thing to do even if I'm not trying to get hired by Perry. Chronicalling it could make a good Thumbs article.

Yeah, 500,000 dumb people. Oh man, burn! I totally burned you!
-
And you probably wouldn't get very far doing that by looking at Thumbs either, actually...

I haven't used Internet Explorer for ages but I still prefer Outlook Express (even over Outlook, which is too wacky for me) for my mail.

Well yeah, that's the point. No "but" required.

I don't know, there are a lot of sections that take place outside and in cities and highways and stuff. Certainly repetitiveness exists, but I don't think it's quite as exaggerated as you claim.

Fuckin' proud of it!

Happy Birthday, man.

I highly doubt all 1.5 million of those people will pick up their preorders, but no matter what the game is going to sell like mad. At my local store, almost all of their preorders have already been sold. When I was there at midnight on Monday, the line had about a hundred people in it.

That's a fair enough way of looking at it. I don't think it's out of the question. Just for the record, though, Half-Life was 1998. That's 6 years ago. For comparison, Duke 3D was released in 1996. At this point it's looking like it'll be at least 10 years between major Duke FPS releases. It's possible Duke 4 will be released next year, but it's seeming more and more unlikely.

Argh, now I have "If I Could Change the World" by Eric Clapton stuck in my head.

Scarily, Halo 2 looks like it will be setting even newer records. At least, until Psychonauts is released. :shifty: :shifty: :shifty:

I agree with you about everything except the selling a zillion copies bit. It might, but I wouldn't bet on it. By the time it comes out, realistically, a lot of 3DR's target audience isn't going to have played any previous Duke Nukem game. True, there have been a bunch of side-scrolling and 3rd-person console versions, but the last big Duke was 3D, and a lot of new(er) gamers these days didn't actually play that game in its day. It's going to have to be largely marketed from scratch, and while there's no reason that couldn't be done successfully it's going to take a lot more money. I don't really see Take 2 coughing it all up at this point, considering how distant they've been from the whole project, and it remains to be seen whether 3DR's mysteriously-funded money pool will last that long.

It might be too old to publish, since print magazines generally have a long lead time, but if they like it they could always ask you to write something else. Don't forget to inject some kind of personal feel into your review. It shouldn't be too sterile.

It's ok, but the AI is beyond terrible. I mean, it's absurd. I've never seen anything like it. Plus, the whole game has a really loose, almost cartoony, feel to it. It doesn't play very smoothly. Either way, it wasn't actually developed by LucasArts, they just published. The current game they're developing is Republic Commando. I don't really give two craps about that game, but I suspect it'll at least be better than Battlefront...

You know, Manny did a tap dance then Glottis farted. It was hilarious. Peter Jackson was credited as "Cinematics Consultant".

GET IT ITS FUNNY BECAUSE HE DOESNT KNOW WHAT STAR WARS IS.

I saw the trailer for Cars and was the opposite of impressed. I hope they pull through (I have faith in Lasseter), but I wouldn't bet money on this one. That said, I saw the trailer in front of The Incredibles, and the latter is easily my favorite Pixar film. Basically, it was great.

Games have higher monetary sales than movies do, yes. I wouldn't consider the industry "bigger" though, in terms of exposure.
