Erkki, out of curiosity, what motherboard and audio card do you have? My Radeon 9600 has been treating me like shit for the past several months, and tons of internet searching has revealed many others with the same problem. It seems to be a weird incompatibility issue with the 9600 series and certain motherboards, audio cards, and possibly even power supply units.

For some reason it's really fitting that everyone goes to Venice Beach and sees pimps and drug dealers and graffiti, and Marek goes there and sees Hulk Hogan

Like you say, your PC always works great! Hooray for PCs! They work!

Oh man, there's some good stuff in there... "Ron Gilbert - Grumpy Poser" "Thizzumb! Thumb! Thumb!" "EA gnabs exclusive NCAA college football license Cracka our pants totally crapped." "WarioWare Touched! by Marek Doggy Stylin'" "Wario, whizzay is you do'n?!" "It's a game `bout... you. It allows anyone who plays tha game ta relive they life, they entire individual life spittin' that real shit. That's a pretty ambitious concept. -Peta Molyneux sows fizzy in many, again." "Idle Thumbs is owned n operated by Shot Calla" "Embarass'n but also off tha hook game music performance"

Based on nothing but my business card, someone told me we seemed like a "gonzo video games site".

I probably got in because I wore a Full Throttle shirt. And because the Action News was named after me for a while.

I downloaded the demo but I think my laptop is clearly a million times too shit to play it. It'll have to wait until Friday when my real computer is scheduled to (FINALLY HOLY CRAP) arrive back to me. However, I've played this level about 2390 times already so I'll live I think.

Why? It looks fine on a regular TV.

Thursday is totally my first day testing Psychonauts at Double Fine. I AM BETTER THAN ALL OF YOU.
-
Yeah, nice one... Psychonauts is the only game that scored a 9 or above, only one game scored in the 8s, and almost half the games scored in the 4s or below. That's great publicity. Close Combat was even a game that a lot of Xbox users were looking forward to, so if they were in fact simply looking to boost Xbox sales that would be an ideal game to pimp. Instead, they reamed it with a 2.8 and gave the highest review to a quirky platformer that doesn't have half the mass market appeal of most of the other games to which they gave much lower scores. Official Xbox Magazine, while not being a paragon of great journalism, is not in fact owned or operated by Microsoft. Nintendo Power is owned by Nintendo. OXM is just the magazine that gained Microsoft's sponsorship, they're owned by a publisher who publishes other magazines that are not "official". Had they not gained that sponsorship, they probably just would have been another unofficial Xbox mag.

Is it awesome enough that it's worth registering for dogsonacid.com?

Yeah, me too. I can run it on a laptop with 256MB RAM and a 16MB graphics card with all the settings turned as far down as they can go, and when people see me playing it they say "Wow that game looks really good". It's pretty absurd and true. I mean Ironforge kicks my laptop's ass but the game is still highly playable. I don't even meet the minimum requirements. (fuck 15 words or less)

I'm slowly starting to get worried that Majesco is going overboard with their campaign... Even if the game sells well, the more money they put into marketing the more the game is going to have to sell to be a profitable and I think with a quirky game like this there might be a sort of inherent upper sales limit. After seeing the president of Majesco talk about Psychonauts, Double Fine, and Schafer, I just hope this publisher isn't setting itself up for a fall. Also, in regards to the PS2 port being pushed back, I think it's for the best. The game deserves to ship out as polished and bug-free as possible and if that's what's necessary then it's worth it.

"On the Spot," Psychonauts on "On the Spot," and other gamer TV
Chris replied to Moosferatu's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah Jake said the same thing to me. I think I'm just desentisized to that manner of speech, hailing previously from Southern California... -
Well that's good to hear. I don't think there's much reason to put lots of stock in officially sponsored magazines, but Jake is right that the demo/solid review combo is great. Just a quick glance at the linked forum thread is encouraging based on the posters' reactions.

"On the Spot," Psychonauts on "On the Spot," and other gamer TV
Chris replied to Moosferatu's topic in Video Gaming
I was telling Jake what I thought about On The Spot over AIM, and then I noticed there was a page 2 and that he in fact agrees and has already posted it in the thread. Whoops. So yeah I agree with Jake. I think the show is fine for what it is and certainly better than anything else of its kind at this point in time, and a lot better than any of GameSpot's other video content. Also, at the risk of heresy ( ), speaking for the perspective of someone who knows: Tim is a fucking great speaker when he's talking about a topic of his own planning and when he's gone through his points beforehand, but honestly for the most part when he's put in the hotseat he just doesn't get into it. When you're just chatting him up he's great but on panels, in recorded things, whatever, he just never seems quite at ease. So I'm not sure it's fair to pin his performance on the host of that show. Either way I don't understand what the big deal is. They got him to come on, show the game, answer some questions, they clearly like and respect him, I mean who cares. It's just a friggin webcast, it's not in the running for an Emmy. -
There are actually plenty of old-school right-wingers who find Bush to be something of a sissy...

You could unfold into, uh, a long sort of creased thin pole. And poke people? -
Also, we can get back to turning Video Game Journalism on its head/ear.
