The thing I think that keeps me from losing interest is being in a really cool guild. I was invited by a guy I actually know in real life and I know a couple of the other guys in person, and pretty much everyone in the guild is just really chill and laid back. It's a pretty small guild because we don't let anyone in until we've hung out with them for a while and we know they're not an asshole.

Man it would be sweet if that started happening again

Wow... It's a surprisingly accurate cross-section of Stevan Zivanivodnivanvec's online history.

My first try was 236... This is oddly fun.

Sadly, we actually kind of don't. Anyone who reads this site and doesn't already very much want the game just isn't going to care.

It's really really really fun. I recently hit 56.

"Blue Shift" is pretty much a fantastic name. It would be tough to beat.

It is likely that Microsoft will continue supporting Xbox until at least 2006 or 2007.

Shhh! Shut up! My long-standing and delicately constructed facade is crashing down like a house of cards!

How shiny the graphics are is not anywhere near the top of my criteria for what makes a "great game". I got this video card for longevity's sake more than I did to have the shiniest graphics. That said, I DID just pay a lot of money for it, and the way games look is really the only thing with any kind of remotely direct relationship with how much power your machine has. Things like design are sort of facilitated by having more power, but only generally in terms of the industry as a whole. Things like pacing, gameplay, writing, character design, etc., have little to nothing to do with the amount of power a given person's PC can muster. Soif they only real thing I'm getting out of having this new video card is the capacity for beefier graphics technology, I might as well want to see what it can do. Don't take it to imply anything about my general attitude towards games. Any of my friends would be able to tell you I'm about as least graphics-whorey as dedicated gamers come. EDIT: This post was not intended to be antagonistic or anything. I'm just explaining my position and making sure you have the right idea of what I mean. No argument/offense/whatever intended!

Every day, when I call EB in the morning they say "call back after 4" and when I call back after 4 they say "call back tomorrow morning". Everyone I talk to there seems to think they're JUST about to get the PC versions in, but they still haven't...

Speaking from personal experience and from extensive internet research, if you have an Abit AV8 motherboard, don't get a Radeon 9600. The 9600 is apparently a very nice card, but hundreds of people including myself have been unable to use it for gaming due to a weird issue with the AV8 that prevents the motherboard from sending the video card enough power to function when playing intensive 3d games. It's a pretty specific combination of hardware so it probably doesn't apply to you but I feel it's my duty to spread the word. Both ATI and Abit are known to be aware of the problem but have refused to help in any way other than suggesting updating drivers and so forth, which has not seemed to help anyone.

Yes, it applies to the Xbox and PC versions.

If you buy Psychonauts from EB they have a coupon in their Spring Sale catalogue for a $10 mail-in rebate.

Honestly, it's almost worth it for World of Warcraft alone. It's just absurd how gorgeous that game looks with ANY graphics card, but being able to apply the full-screen glow and all the shaders and raise the resolution a few notches is even more astonishing. But mainly I just want a computer that will be able to hold its own for a few years. This is the first modern-game-capable PC I've owned in ages and I want it to last.

Oh, believe me, I was laughing at those screenshots long before Penny Arcade mocked them. When they were first featured on GameSpot they became a running joke among my friends. Classic stuff.

My EB has the Xbox version in but not the PC version (and they said they've already gotten their last product shipment in today). The guy I spoke with doesn't know why; he said I should just try back tomorrow or the next day.
