I don't even think it's just that PC games don't sell as well, although that's surely part of it. It's also that developers just don't bother being efficient. I've heard this from actual developers. Console developers learn to be incredibly clever when it comes to squeezing power out of the hardware they're working with, whereas it's not as much of a necessity for PC developers. I mean look at some of the stuff that's come out on PS2, which is clearly the least powerful current console. Can you ever imagine seeing stuff like that on a PC with comparable specs? Same goes for any of the consoles for that matter. There's also the problem of PCs being of such widely variable configurations. Since developers don't know exactly what they're working with, they are forced to take an approach that is at least somewhat compromised. I have no doubt that, as usual, PC games will start to edge out console games in terms of shininess, but I don't think it's going to be a particularly significant comparison.

Yeah I really despise Mad TV. The very few times I've seen it, it both enraged and saddened me.

Hey, my buddy is a gnome warlock! I don't know, it's just not funny to me.

Nintendo really better step up to the plate here, for their own good. I don't know if physics and AI are ever the first things on their mind though. It always seems like it's practically effortless for them to improve upon existing types of gameplay and invent new ones that for some reason I get the impression that they (think they) don't "need" stuff like AI and physics. Who knows, though?

Oh man I can't stop looking at that picture.

I don't like Chappelle's Show, but Dave Chappelle seems like a nice guy. It's cool to see some big-name celebrities being vocal about something that's not Halo or GTA... Is he actually a Gnome Warlock, or are you just hypothesizing?

Oh man, I really hope that the movie is reviewed really poorly with reviewers saying things like "devoid of emotion" and "lacks any kind of soul" and "has no connection with the viewer" while completely ignorant of Freeman's book. And then I hope Freeman reads those quotes and cries or something. -
Hardware often loses money, but that analyst report notes though that what makes this case notable is that Sony might not be able to recoup the losses through game royalties this time. If Microsoft indeed launches Halo 3 the day the PS3 goes on sale (which does seem pretty unlikely based on Bungie's response to that plan) and if they instituted a price drop at the same time or just before, that could be disastrous for Sony. Personally I hope they fucking destroy each other. Neither system looks appealing to me at all right now. The 360 surely won't have enough of a good games library for me to want to buy it for months, and with the PS3 I'm genuinely worried that it will simply be flooded with nothing but hugely-expensive blockbuster titles. I really have no plans to shell out $400+ just so I can play an even more photorealistic version of Gran Tourismo or some bullshit. The more I think about it, the more outrageous it is to me. I hope Nintendo just gets their act together and releases their system in a more timely manner than they've been hinting they will, and if at all possible somehow release it with HD support (I don't even want to think about how many people will automatically pass it up based on stuff like that when deciding which machine to get).

Weirdly enough, I only found myself at the Majesco booth once, and then it was in passing and by accident.

Ha...ha?

He also wrote a novel in 2003 which is about to be published.

Wow, 3D done properly on the DS. Don't know how we missed that at E3...

Holy fuck

Ah ok. That I can see.

If you have ever actually shelled out 70 bucks for a game that is mediocre and shit, you are clearly very misinformed. I have never paid more than 50 bucks for a game ever (well except for Half-Life 2 but that money went straight to Valve which is the only reason I spent that much) and the amount of games I have bought that I find shit is so low that I can't even think of right now. Oh, I guess Runaway was totally shit, but that was like $15 when I bought it new. I can deal with that in a collection of otherwise awesome games. If you're buying tons of shitty games, it's time to start blaming yourself for not being a more educated consumer. Maybe that sounds condescending or something, but it's not meant to be. I honestly have never in my life had any problems making reasonable and informed decisions about the products I buy based on reviews, conversations, common sense, and so on, and I don't think I'm a psychic or anything. You clearly don't know where to buy games or music. You might live in an area that is ludicrously expensive or something, but I live in California, and living here isn't cheap. I never pay more than $15 for a CD unless it is a rare import or something, and $15 is even high for me. If you just take a bit of time to find a good independant record store, you might be surprised to find you're getting the same amount of music for half the price. $25 just seems unimaginable to me. Well, if that's how you really want to be, then I guess my post won't mean much to you. Honestly, I'd much rather just play a few games a year that I think are really good than a billion games a year for 15 minutes each that are shit (and I have had several years during which I've done just that--the 2 or 3 total I mean). Why would you want to play shit games at all if you think they're so bad? Again, it's hard for me to believe that someone of reasonable intelligence can't make a FAIRLY accurate decision about whether they'll think a game is total shit or not. I mean maybe you're not 100% on target but if you're playing crappy games just to take up time, have you considered just doing something else?? If you have 15 minutes to kill, read a book (believe me there are practically unlimited "good" ones out there) or go outside or do jumping jacks or something, I don't know. It's not like you HAVE to be playing video games. Ok Woo! I sort of assumed this was you. If it's not, just buy those games and forget about all the other shit... You'll be happier and have more room on your Xbox. Welcome to Idle Thumbs

What puts you off about the graphical style? You don't like houses?

That's enough out of you. -
Mine wasn't chosen (by me). I didn't even know I was getting a signed one.
-
He's not directing Alice.
-
He's only actually directed a few movies.
-
Ah, well... It wasn't intentional, I guess. I don't have HBO (or a TV) and I'd never heard of it before.

Woo, another movie sure to suck, hooray.
