Thanks, guys I don't really know how much time I'll have for Thumbs (I just gave my two weeks' notice at my other job today, so right now I'm sort of working two full-time jobs simultaneously, holy crap) yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out once I get the hang of things. There's one thing of which you can be sure, however... Remo Extremo will always belong to The Thumb.

I don't have anything new to say other than what I put in that first post. Since then I haven't really played any games, having been too busy with work and other stuff.

I picked it up yesterday, in some small part out of sympathy for Majesco. Anyway, it's pretty fun so far. The graphics are definitely the cleanest use of 3d I've seen on a DS yet, which I guess is worth mentioning. I feel like I'm blazing through the game quite fast, so we'll see how the replay value holds up.

Wait for this and then if it ends up sucking just flip a coin. I didn't really like what they did with Underground, but Underground 2 was just ridiculous. It might as well have been called "Bam Margera's Pro Jackass Underground 2". I think Tony 3 was sort of the high point of the series. 4 was still quite good and they introduced a more non-linear system, which was interesting, but the game got a bit too easy I think. The series had been getting progressively better but also easier, and with 4 it just hit a point where you can grind stuff for ever, connect it with manuals, and rack up basically unlimited points. Doing that in the previous games was much more of an accomplishment because the manual/grind balance meter was much more finicky than the accomodating one in 4 (and THUG/THUG2). Anyway, from what I hear, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland goes back somewhat to the direction of the pre-THUG games, which I'm pleased about, and I'd be quite suprised if the DS version took a THUG route just because it wouldn't make much sense on the hardware.

Man, I love Tony. The direction taken with Underground and Underground 2 makes me sad. I hope this game is good.

I think it's pretty different... I mean Hitler and the Nazis did in fact kill millions of Jews and gypsies and homosexuals etc. Having them be the representation of evil in a Video game might be something of an oversimplification but I'd put it on quite a different plane than having the target of your game be Black People, whose mastermind overlords are Jewish People, a game whose goal is proudly described by its creator as promoting the "separation of the races".

That doesn't really mean anything. "Loose from real-world cultural context", there is no such thing as bad taste. I mean, you could excuse practically anything that way. Unfortunately, there is in fact a real world with contexts...

I kind of like the feeling of playing just an average guy in the middle of a bunch of other guys. It's the exact opposite of most games. I know that sounds odd, but I'm just really sick of every game trying to make you feel like some enormous hero. WoW probably intends to make you feel like an enormous hero but when there are that many other people around it's just impossible and I kind of like it.

I can see the Photoshop one being pretty useful. I mean it's true that you don't spend all the time looking down at the keyboard, but clearly since keyboard do in fact have text printed on them people have to do it sometimes. Of course the product is excessive but being Video Gamers it's not really our lot to cry foul at this level of excess.

I played Metal Gear Solid when it came out (I don't really remember much about the previous Metal Gear games) and I couldn't really get it into it. I have nothing against the series, and I wish I could get into it enough to play through it just to see what everyone's on about, but it's just not my kind of gameplay. MGS was hard as hell for me and I had to give up eventually.
