Just generally speaking, you might as well keep as many games as possible in the same place, so to speak. I mean, that's more important with multiplayer games than single-player games, but Xbox Live is such a complete service overall that there doesn't seem to be a reason not to have it there in the background--again, excepting controller preferences. Plus, Xbox 360 seems much more frequently to be the lead development platform on most multiplatform titles.

I don't mean this as a broad slam on the system, but what reason is there to buy a multiplatform game on PS3 unless you prefer the controller?
-
Hmm, Twitter. Perhaps I can take that over and do dumb shit like sporadic live posts from press events?

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Tell your friends! We are struggling to publicize this thing because we have no idea how.

This is always the kind of thing I wish designers would do on purpose but generally suspect they don't.

Audio quality actually isn't the factor--certainly not the main factor, anyway. The in-person goal is pretty much entirely based around having the kind of personal chemistry and presence you can only really achieve by sitting around a table together face to face. That's not to say there aren't people who pull that off over Skype, but I think it's a lot harder and it was definitely something we wanted to address with our format.

Yeah that came out much different in the recording than it sounded at the time. In retrospect that was an ill-advised move. We'll be more careful going forward.

Those are all my games.

Hey folks--if iTunes is your podcast tracker of choice, please add our feed now using the newly-created proper iTunes link: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=293436552 Even if you previously tracked it manually with iTunes just by adding the RSS feed directly, you should still do this! Thanks! Woo! Internet!

Yeah, we're going to try to keep improving the recording and audio quality. We're all new to this type of thing.

I signed up when it first went up (before GTA4 was released) and it took a little bit of time for it to sync up my accounts--that may still be the case.

That comment thread might have inspired some musical ramblings that, if all goes well, might be manifested in the next episode.

Jenova Chen was also one of Spore's designers.

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to present, the father of New Games Journalism

This is a remarkably accurate recollection of the periods in question. -
Indeed you are going blind.

The difference is, and this is just an unfortunate reality, your average citizen, even a cultured one (perhaps especially a cultured one), hasn't the slightest clue what games are "of any stature." They're also extremely unlikely to be familiar with any good (or bad) game journalism outlets -- plus, the people with whom those outlets hold some cachet don't need to see them advertised, they already read them. I'm sure if publications like the New York Times (or whatever) start giving Fallout 3 rave reviews, Bethesda will be more than happy to trumpet that, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if that happened.

I imagine if that kind of thing really was totally ineffective, movie studios would have stopped doing it decades ago.

They don't work for me either. The latest post buttons just take me to the first post in the thread.

I have no idea what you're talking about

What's probably the last update just went up folks. If you have any affection for this weird-ass splash page, get your looks in now before it goes away forever.

Hmm... It works fine on my home and work computers, both of which have Firefox 3.03. (I also tested on IE and Chrome.) It is a mystery.
