Idle Thumbs 10: The Ballad of John Riccitiello
Chris replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I would feel like an idiot if so, but I don't know how. I was being honest when I said I tried every single button the controller. I can't imagine how you'd skip it, unless there's actually an option to just turn off character interaction, which would be weird. -
But the stuff that does sell is often worthless crap, and yet people still like it.

I still have one on them, because I use it as my philosophical ethic.

Main site isn't updated yet but you can get a direct link from the RSS. -
Nice marmot

There you go

Yep, my bad. I realized that right after I finished the 40-minute process of FTPing the episode to the server, and at 4am the last thing I wanted to do was start it over.
-
I'm trying to figure out how to handle that. It's such an irregular collection and there are a bunch of people. Hang tight for a bit--we'll work it out this week.
-
On balance, I would say more lucky than cursed.
-
I've explained why it has this effect on me! http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/11/12/ridley-scott-passes-go-collects-200-to-direct-monopoly/

Technically Stranger's Wrath was EA Partners, but it was an earlier incarnation of the program and before it had as defined a structure and goal as it does now.
-
God I hate that first picture so much. I've seen it before. Where does it even come from? I wish it would go away.
-
I'm sure that's not uncommon. It's quite easy to live in the United States and be well over a thousand miles away from the ocean in most directions.
-
Hopefully the same stuff they do with the rest of EA Partners' lineup, which has been awesome with only very few exceptions.

"So we've got this elegant name, 'Clue,' what do you think?" "No, that's boring! We need a compound word, one that leverages the synergies of our game! Let's combine that word with the name of a different game! If it doesn't imply something already existent and comforting, it might frighten people off. Cluedo. It's like Clue, but it's also like Ludo. Get it? Cluedo." "Okay, I guess."
-
Oh, I see. "Clue" is a better name.
-
I know what it is, I just don't know what the word itself means. People always get really protective about saying "Cluedo" rather than "Clue," but I know what the word "clue" means and I have no idea what a "cluedo" is.
-
what the hell does that mean
-
It's a fair point, and Passage is indeed awesome. There is sort of a weird gulf though between games like Passage, and the full-scale game industry--less of a continuum like you see in other forms. But yeah I was probably a bit hasty in my diatribe. And thanks!

That is an unbelievably poor submission form. "From", "Subject", "Vote"? What the hell? Why don't they just have a box for "Game name"?
-
It took me about a dozen replies before I actually understood what was being initially described
-
I'm really pretty sure this would do it too.

It really is frightening right now. I'm astonished by how many industry layoff stories I've had to write recently; I've started avoiding them recently, trying to stealthily offload them onto other staff members, because it's gotten so depressing.
