  1. How about starting every sentence with a baboo? Your baboos are pretty distinctive.
  2. Idle Thumbs is everywhere

  3. Hahaha. This is 100% incredible.
  4. WTFFF!!!!

    Would.
  5. Actually, come to think of it, I'm not entirely positive he talked about it on a podcast. Maybe it was a forum post or something. Anyway my post is useless so ignore me.
  6. I believe Chris has an opinion on this game. Oh shit. I wanna have one of those prints.
  7. Warren Spector's Disney project concept art

Not licensed as Junction Point Studios is owned by Disney. But yeah I imagine there's some politics involved in taking such well-known Disney characters into a different direction.
  8. Those shareholder meetings sound funny and depressing at the same time. Video game industry.
  9. Awesome MI2 2D/3D Projection thingie

Whoa that is a cool video. We briefly investigated this technique for the fantastic/innovative/sexy yet tragically cancelled game we were working on at NCsoft. Our goal was to use this as a way to quickly and cheaply convert concept art to semi-3D scenes. If I recall correctly the idea was dropped due to the poor flexibility it gives. Pan the camera just a bit too far and you start seeing the seams... As cool as this looks though I'd really like an MI2 special edition to just have higher res scanned backgrounds plx.
  10. BTW I also love the Civ 4 talk and cathedral talk and all that. It's really interesting and I like hearing Nick's thoughts on strategy games as well. Good stuff.
  11. Oh man, now I'm sad. I was going to send in a .wav of my full repertoire of Arnold Schwarzenegger quotes, but instead you found a horrible impression from years ago. I've really come a long way since, you know.
  12. Bumping an old thread to say that I played the Idle Thumbs level with fellow (ex)-Thumber Alex Ashby this weekend (yes, months and months after it was made) and we loved it. Awesome work, Kaboomzzzz!
  13. Another great podcast! Woo. I gotta say though, if "Fidelity" were the name of a game, it'd be the new Far Cry 2. I think there's a little gratuitous fidelity going on? Fidelity. Fidelity? Fidelity.
  14. Tales of Monkey Island

EMI was a nice/good game that would have probably been received a lot better had it not been the sequel to three other MI games. There's a lot of problems with EMI but the main one is this: while the first three games were comedies, they were also cool little pirate adventure stories. Ghost pirates, mysterious islands, treasure, curses, that sort of thing. EMI instead is mostly about other things: corporations, tourism, marriage jokes, gubernatorial elections, pop culture references, giant robots (wtf?), etc. And it's also a lot about parodying Monkey Island itself. As I remember many scenes in EMI were just screaming "MONKEY ISLAND AMIRITE?!?". So instead of a humorously told piratey story with some fun character dynamics it kind of turned into ... I don't know what it turned into. I think when people say EMI doesn't have the same "charm" or whatever, it's half related to the art direction, and half related to what I just wrote. Basically, I could have just said that I agree with Kingzjester.
  15. Activision sues to stop release of Brutal Legend

I'm pretty sure Psychonauts wasn't self-funded. It was paid for by Microsoft and then, presumably, Majesco. You're thinking of the gap between the two publishers during which, according to Tim Schafer, personal money was used to keep the company afloat. No, that doesn't make sense. If a developer misses a milestone, you can make it a big problem for the developer, but you're not going to walk out on millions of investment just because a milestone was missed. It seems the milestone issue is raised only to claim that Double Fine didn't meet its contractual obligations and was therefore in breach. Anyway, I guess either Double Fine did something really stupid and risky, or Activision is being a mega asshole.
  16. Where did you read that?
  17. Happy Birthday, Yufster!

HEY EVERYBODY! Today is Yufster's birthday (a.k.a. Rusalka)! :partyhat: :molyneuxcrown: :molyneuxcrown: :molyneuxcrown: And of course:

  20. Queensday gone wrong

BTW I absolutely hate the opportunistic politicians (PVV party etc.) who immediately questioned the security around the event. I mean, the car drove through two barriers. Shots were apparently fired on the car. And after the crash happened the site was immediately zerged by 40 police officers. Yes, there was enough security.
  21. Queensday gone wrong

Followed the news from here in the UK. Saw some of the video footage from after the crash. Really horrific. Just the thought of that car driving into a crowd of people Carmageddon-style and people flying through the air... fuck. That's properly fucked up. Apparently the suspect lost his job and was going to be evicted soon, which I guess drove him mental. I still read a bunch of those typical "oh he's such a nice gentleman, just a quiet man in a normal town" statements from neighbors though. Really makes you wonder what was going through his mind.
  22. Life

My life is currently a combination of: :tmeh:  The executive summary:
  23. I think that's how I always thought it was pronounced. Hooray for me. Just to be sure though, the end bit... it's pronounced "vitch" right? Not "vick"?
