I was helping a friend who has the stuttering problem, so I defragged his HD with Windows' own defrag tool. Guess what it said at the end? The following files have not been defragmented: Size: 1.01 GB Filename: \Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\source materials.gcf That was the file it was all about.

I really agree with you. It's hard to say why I didn't like the later stuff though.

It was shit. It didn't introduce anything new. I also disliked the story and atmosphere (though I only played probably the first 4 levels of each side). Suddenly the game was full of things like Mechwarriors and James Earl Jones commanding GDI troops from a space station orbiting the planet. The cutscenes in C&C had a certain charm to them, but in Tiberian Sun it constantly feels like they tried too hard and that you're playing one of those shitty CD-i games.

Yeah that soundtrack was pretty much a work of genius. I would venture to say the gameplay wouldn't be the same without it. I was extremely fond of the C&C Thang, Mechanical Man and Just Do It because at the time it was still rare to have vocal samples in the soundtrack.
