Yay! There's a really good post mortem of it in Game Developer Mag (to those who are subscribers).

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - latest screenshots
Marek replied to Intrepid Homoludens's topic in Video Gaming
I prefer to look at the new interior shots instead of the lame lizard man. Look at all those objects on the table! Oh how I long to throw them all on the floor. -
I was MEANT to make an ass of myself playing EyeToy, don't you get it? That whole scene was scripted in advance.

Okay, so PA rules. But their website is horrible. Why does their upload script break all the time? They should have someone re-code their entire site, write a better search engine, and maybe even give the site a new design. I'm sure they can find a really good web designer willing to do it for cheap, given the extremely large following they have. That's all.

If it's from the new album I haven't actually heard the song.

What makes panting sounds specifically homoerotic? You're offending my heterosexual sensibilities.

Once I had to reinstall some computers at a company and so I named all the computers after game characters. Y'know, good names. Like Razputin, and... Glottis. Then the regular guy came back the new computers got names that sounded more like fighter pilot call signs. "Hey, dump those files on Delta Black Eagle" doesn't sound that cool though.

Oh c'mon, an Escape from Monkey Island beer mat! Drink away your pain after playing the game... in style!

I'm not touching WOW because it has the potential to destroy my productivity not just for a few days (e.g. HL2) but for months and possibly years. So I've convinced myself WOW is shit.

They could call it The Sims Online!

Yes, the jokes are super annoying.

Ah well, if it's creation we're talking about, I think the difference is what you just wrote, but moreso the fact that you don't need the latest version of ProTools to make good and/or marketable music, or the largest supercomputer ever to make a succesful movie. To give an extreme example, The Blair Witch Project outsold slews of CGI-heavy films. The music industry is not driven by having the latest hardware either (pop music is mostly driven by marketing, and the 'underground' is driven by quality and/or hip-ness). I have yet to read the article in question though

How so? It's not like I have to get a new CD player every 3 years to continue listening to music. VHS has been around a loooooong time before gradually being replaced by DVD, and it still isn't dead. Film hasn't changed in decades in ways that movie-goers would care greatly about. (Though digital cinemas are changing that.) Maybe the guy put it pretty strongly but I think it's a fair point. The platforms for music and film are a lot more stable.

I've already donated a heap of money but this is a really cool idea. Maybe I'll bid a few times to drive the prize up.
