  1. Happy Birthday Alex!!!!

Happy birthday dude! I wish I was there with you guys in the Idle Thumbs House. I'll drop by soon!
  2. Full time gamesite writing gig

Oh man, awesome. It's nice to know there's other Dutch editors/webmasters working on international English game websites. Seems like a rare thing. It's hard not to feel inferior to a guy with gold in his last name though. Like, bronze-string? Gold? GET IT? LOLZROFL.
  3. Full time gamesite writing gig

Thanks. I think one or two of our US staffers might apply. I like ShackNews but I'm glad they're planning to expand beyond link-and-quote news (and the occasional hard to spot article). I look forward to seeing what they have in store. Regarding the final bonus bullet point, is Maarten Goldstein Dutch?
  4. Smilies that I hate

I think some of the Thumbs staffers still use that as it's a very accurate rendition of Dan Gershman of Mixnmojo.
  5. Smilies that I hate

We could just cut out this guy.
  6. Smilies that I hate

Dopefish Lives!™ Though we could downsize him a little so that it fits with the heads and doesn't look as huge, even though he's huge in Commander Keen. I don't often use the Dopefish because it's so enormous.
  7. Awesome Ed Fries video interview

Awesome! I changed the width to 50px and put it in.
  8. Awesome Ed Fries video interview

Ed Fries is totally a nice guy and a real straight talker. He's highly respected amongst developers, though he's also often criticised over some of the seemingly random project approvals / dev acquisitions that were made in the early days of Xbox. Still, it's too bad we'll never know how Psychonauts, Phantom Dust, Oddworld Stranger and a bunch of other projects had done if they'd been kept at MS. P.S. Those smileys should totally be added.
  9. Gitaroo Man devs working on DS game!

    Videos here: http://touch-ds.jp/mfs/ouendan/movie.html
  10. The most awesome Old Timey thing ever

    Would make an excellent poster.
  11. Tell Us About Yourself

Welcome! We should have some articles about the NFT thing soon.
  12. Got any recommended URLs? I'm just looking for a site that covers news on upcoming movies and maybe does some reviews, but without any of that stuck-up "I'm a film critic" attitude OR the kind of retardedness you generally find on Aintitcool. Does anyone know?
  13. Good blogs/sites about movies?

I just noticed it was ajax on that site. I love ajax.
  14. Good blogs/sites about movies?

Whoah I really like how you can add films to your personal page by clicking a JavaScript/DHTML thingie that doesn't refresh the page. I might actually use that site now, thanks. (Jake: we should steal this for Idle Thumbs).
  15. Good blogs/sites about movies?

I am indeed Dutch. (What gave it away?!?) Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.
  16. GameSpy has the first preview. Looks nice.
  17. Tell Us About Yourself

It's sad how TeleFragged managed to piss over so many young webmasters' dreams. I'm glad they're sort of small-time now. It makes the internet a slightly less wretched place.
  18. Good blogs/sites about movies?

    I'll have a look.
  19. San Andreas (PC)

    (endgame spoiler)
  20. Total Annihilation's spiritual successor

To be honest I don't know what caused me to say "looks nice". It doesn't look nice at all in terms of artistic direction, and the story seems very boring. But I liked TA a lot despite some flaws, and I'm hoping this game will have good gameplay too.
  21. Tell Us About Yourself

It's rather hilarious that you worked with Spaff way back on Converted2 and found Idle Thumbs through UK Resistance. Well done! And welcome.
  22. Apparently it's being made by the Vib Ribbon / Paparappa the Rapper people. It looks really insane and involves dentistry.
  23. London

Anyone hurt? Spaff, Ben and Nick alive?
  24. Check this out. Basically they lured a bunch of people to the studio saying they'd discuss a whole range of games related topics, but it turned out to be a sensationalist program just about video game violence. One game journalist from Ziff Davis / 1up did the right thing and walked off the set.
