Oh for fuck's sake. I just spent far, far too much money at the drugstore. All I really wanted was some simple hairgel and instead I left with the most expensive hairgel available plus two other items worth 20 euros in total. Three reasons: The girl at the drugstore was really hot. She knew how to sell. I got candy! Apparently this gel is fucking amazing and I'll never want another brand ever. She spent several minutes explaining the differences between each product, as if I was buying a new TV or something. Now I'm broke. How am I going to eat? Okay, I'm not broke. But still! 20 euros! So wrong.

Battlestar Galactica season2 - anyone watching?
Marek replied to Marek's topic in Movies & Television
I never closely followed Babylon 5 (simply because it wasn't aired at convenient/consistent times over here) but from what I saw I would agree that DS9 shared elements with it. Not sure if it can be called a copy, though, as DS9 was developed a year before Babylon 5. I think "Babylon 5 vs. DS9" is more something that took place in usenet threads than something that was ever a real issue. Hot Dog is one of the new pilots trained by Starbuck. He's now sort of the third guy after Apollo and Starbuck I think. He doesn't get many lines, but I like how he's consistently been there for a while. -

If Ron Moore's work on Deep Space Nine is anything to go by, we can expect all those storylines to further intertwine and get a lot more complex as the series goes on. BSG also seems to take the same approach as DS9 to recurring characters / guest stars. I really really like that these characters keep making appearances, like Hotdog, Cally, Zarek, that female brunette pilot (erm, Racetrack?), the third guy in command below Tigh, the priest, the cigarette smoking doctor, Tigh's wife, etc. etc. That doctor guy got only like 10 lines so far but he's already such a great character, holy crap. And when I saw that third guy in command when Tigh had to take over I was like "wait who is this guy?", but I was extremely pleased to find out he's actually all over the miniseries if you pay attention. -

I wonder if it was done intentionally. They might have wanted to further broaden the audience at the beginning of the season before going deeper into the story. I dunno. -
I think outside of internet forums I actually talk about girls too much... I'm sure I'm very annoying to some people. Ahh... P.S. Hairgel tested ... it actually is really really good.

Did you guys catch the last episode Resistance? Seems like BSG's return to form... -
Let's not confuse a great saleswoman with a booth babe. I bought lots of crap due to pursuasive recommendations and a very enthusiastic presentation. Booth babes are horrible.

I thought it was the soccer team.

Eh? What are you talking about? Pretty much all coffeeshops also actually sell coffee (and other non-alcoholic beverages).

Well, she no longer lives in a windmill. P.S. I wasn't actually actively interested in the drugstore girl, she was merely hot.

Weird yesterday I saw the globe version and now the other one. I didn't know what Jake was smoking when he said purple gnome hat house but now I understand.

Oh man. I've got to share this is a letter I got forwarded from the MMO game I'm working on. The game has a chat system with a bunch of regular smileys, including the clowny face one. Now check this out:

You have my vote, sir. Fun fact: my Threadless password didn't work, so I requested a reminder... and it turns out my password had been changed to literally "********"

Obviously it's very politically insensitive. It's the irony that makes it especially funny to me.

I was speaking weirdly metaphorical. What I meant was ... which spelling of the word video games video games do you prefer? But we can talk about having to take only one game to an island too.

When I got the original press release I was intrigued, but when I saw the screenshots I didn't really care for it anymore.

Technically the manufacturing company is the one that presses the contents of a game onto CDs or DVDs.
