  1. if computer games were real...

Wait, isn't that the exact same brothel where Shigsy hung out in Consolevania?
  2. if computer games were real...

No way, meerkats are way funnier than a tenniscourt. It's a fact of life.
  3. pretty html flower things...

JA+ has flies hovering around it. Nice.
  4. Big Easy

Hey even fucking Afghanistan offered to donate money. A couple of days ago Holland sent a frigate, two helicopters and F16s from Aruba to help out. It blows my mind that such a thing could ever happen.
  5. Big Easy

http://www.godlikeproductions.com/scans/ MTP.AaronBroussardX.wmv fucking broke my heart.
  6. Further 360 hilarity ensues...

No it's just a page in the interface. Like, a tab.
  7. Hey, this is quite good. I definitely third this recommendation - go play it.
  8. George Bush Doesn't Care about Black People

Yeah he has the eloquence of a peanut, but at least he's got some balls. A peanut with balls, if you will.
  9. George Bush Doesn't Care about Black People

I don't know who Kanye West is, but in book he pretty much rules now.
  10. Seen any good movies lately?

Thumbs up to Marc Caro then! I really like the atmosphere of his / Jeunet's movies. Some of it is down to the wacky fairytale stuff they throw at you, and some of it is down to really subtle things such as how they went about the color correction. Will remember those recommendations.
  11. Seen any good movies lately?

Wait, DVDs are still PAL/NTSC? I thought they tackled that problem with DVDs by somehow outputting the video at different resolutions. Hmmm.
  12. Big Easy

I hope Americans realize it's the government's responsibility to prevent these kinds of situations. All this crazyness could have been prevented by, first of all, fighting poverty and keeping guns away from people, actually making sure the levees are properly maintained, not sending 2/3 of your National Guardsmen to Iraq and generally by responding adequately when shit hits the fan. The government did none of these things. You can't blame the people for flipping out, especially poor people on drugs with guns.
  13. Seen any good movies lately?

Yeah I saw both those before and loved them. I still have to see Delicatessen sometime. I saw the first 10 minutes once but then someone called and I forgot to see the rest of the film.
  14. Game Boy Micro? Why?

One big screen can't be folded up. How do you propose they keep it small?
  15. Seen any good movies lately?

Last week I discovered an alternative video rental store a minute walk away from my house (fucking woot!). I rented: Kops - Just what I expected: some mindless fun. Entertaining, but nothing special. Cidade de Deus - One of those films where multiple stories of crime intertwine blah blah but it's actually really good. Amélie - HOLY CRAP. Glorious! This film makes me sing. Why did I not see it before? I have to own it now.

New Orleans isn't exactly yuppietown, right? Lots of gangs, poverty, guns, etc. Couple that with a really desperate situation and you easily have anarchy. The mayor pointed out in that radio interview that a lot of the shooting probably started with drug addicts not getting their fix and flipping out. I agree that a lot of people are being morons over there but let's not forget they were already in a shit place to begin with. (Which is clearly why Bush didn't give funding for maintaining the levees etc. They don't give a shit about the poor.)
  17. Big Easy

Yeah it's pretty fucking crazy out there. What the fuck. Seriously, what is going on? And why isn't there a huge fuckoff army there right now to sort things out? Are they all in Iraq or something?
  18. A thousand words.

    A hundred words. Max.
  19. Games you ignore (licenses, kid's games).

In a pleasant, gentle kind of way though, right?
  20. Game Boy Micro? Why?

    Yeah, get Minish Cap.
  21. Game Boy Micro? Why?

Except I'm not sure if that would be the right way to go. Well, maybe in 5 years or something. But as awesome as the PSP is in its capabilities, it's also severely handicapped by them in terms of price, battery life, etc. A really expensive and energy-draining GB with GameCube-like power would make no sense given Nintendo's target audience. It would also make the games for that platform significantly more expensive to make, while one of the reasons devs like the GBA is that you can have a good-selling product with minimal dev costs. This is all just stupid speculation of course.
  22. PSP in Europe

That's funny. Apparently the screen protectors go bad really fast. I've not used any and the screen itself is still fine. There's hardly any scratches on it, and the ones that are there you can't see without tilting your head.
  23. Game Boy Micro? Why?

Erm the Micro is a perfectly fine move. For some people nothing beats being able to take that thing anywhere, all the time. You can put it in the pockets of your jeans if you want to, no coat required. Also, it's perfect for kids. A collegue of mine once asked to recommend a system for a 4 year old (I think) and I just couldn't recommend a DS or, heaven forbid, a PSP. I told her to get an SP, and today I might have told her to wait for the Micro. The DS plays GBA games, true, but it's not nearly as portable as the Micro. The two are different enough to make sense. A possible future GBA2 would confuse the fuck out of me though. At least, if it's anything more than just a screen resolution and memory upgrade or something.
  24. The positive thread

This forum might have gotten (or always been) a bit too cynical and too negative, maybe even stubbornly nostalgic. I thought it would be nice to have a purely positive thread. Seen anything cool? Played any good games? Has anything got you excited right now? Tell us about it. Anything you're enthusiastic about goes. (I apologize for blatantly nicking this idea from another forum. ) Myself, I just started playing City of Heroes, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Its appearances are pretty bland, and I suspect it gets less exciting in the longer term, but for the moment it's really fun to play. The character creation process is awesome, and I really like the in-game community. Although you can play solo, I've much prefered playing in groups (unlike other MMOs). It's very easy to team up and share missions, and it requires little time commitment, so you can go in and out of teams pretty easily. Most people don't waste time with chat, they just play the game, which I think is really cool. Also I have a new fridge. Unlike my last one it doesn't have a fake wood finish, so that's a win.
