Dietrich is part of this sinister story. Adama will be back though, warts and all.
-
Oh. OH. I read that as pocketbook. ¬¬ Wow now it makes no sense at all.
-
It will be back, when I get bored with this one. Which will be... soon.
-
Looks like they will indeed reveal a smaller version than the one shown now: I knew it.
-
Are you good at illustrating? Thumb is kinda looking for artists. :buyme:
-
I also recommend getting Grickle by Graham Annable. It's not as varied as Hickee for obvious reasons, but it's super funny and has lots of surreal humor.
-
Been looking forward to it quite a while and I'm sure I'll buy it when it comes out. It seems like a killer app of the same caliber as Mario Kart DS. There was a press event for the game today with some new info. I love this bit: Nice!

Today I was looking for new DS games. The store had several rows fronted by Battles of Prince of Persia and King Kong. I couldn't help but move those to the back of the row, giving full frontal exposure to Meteos, Advance Wars DS, and a copy of Electroplankton. It's something I do almost always. Are there other compulsive store shelf rearrangers out there?

Someone get Gondry on the phone.

We're on a couple of mailinglists where you get stuff sent to you, but in most cases you have to specifically request a review copy. A lot of our reviews are based on copies we already own though (mainly because we don't bother enough). Nintendo is probably the most conservative publisher when it comes to sending out review materials. I only got them to send a review copy once for some freelance work, and then I had to actually mail it back when I was done with it.

Haha oh man. Well done.Where is Molyneux though? Someone should cut this one out but keep the hand. Both would be of great use for certain posts.

Abandon thread! Women and children first!

We're getting two things confused now. Some posts are talking about the catharsis when completing something inside the game itself... the reward for sitting through something. Other posts appears to be talking about real life rewards from playing video games, such as knowledge gained or whatever. I'm losing track of this. Maybe it was a bad idea to try to interpret Gondry's quote too much, as he might not know much about games at all.
-
Yeah I posted that quote. I do not understand why video games are (still) seen as providing instant gratification. It's a medium that more often than not requires a longterm investment from the player. Yes, games provide an instant response to input. You press left and the guy goes left. But the actual rewards usually don't come immediately at all. You could even argue that games are all about delayed rewards. It goes back to having to beat an X number of levels or get an X amount of coins, and all the way to forming strategies and prioritizing missions and sub missions in more complex games. Playing games is not like eating icecream. It can take a lot of effort to squeeze out the reward. I don't know if games make you more creative though. I guess some do. I'm a big fan of Gondry so I know where the guy is coming from with the creativity thing and from his perspective I think he's right, but his rationale behind it is completely wrong.

[wiki]Stephen Colbert[/wiki] of [wiki]The Colbert Report[/wiki], which is a spinoff from [wiki]The Daily Show With Jon Stewart[/wiki]. You can watch them here and here, though beware of the last couple of Colbert Report clips for they are not up to their usual standard.

You don't rearrange online stores with your l33t h4x03 sk1llz?

Yes there'll be a poll, but we need some candidates first!

I like those bullets. You're very organized! I've been playing lots of World of Warcraft. But... I can control it. I've also picked up Simcity 4 again for no reason other than that a own a Mac now and it's one of the few other Mac games I like. I keep starting new cities promising myself to make them beautiful but then I get lazy and use a boring grid layout anyway. I dissapoint myself. My DS has been taking a break for a while. I guess I'll maybe play Sonic Rush and Feel the Magic on it soon though. *glances at Ben*

Now there's an element to Grand Theft Auto that has been sorely underrepresented in the media.

N0wak, it's been a huge trend in PC strategy gaming to streamline the crap out of everything so that it's more accessible and fun for everyone. Developers seem nearly obsessed with it. I wonder what your frame of reference is. Maybe you need to catch up on some of the more recent PC titles? I agree with you on the DS having awesome strategy games though. Also I agree that Civ 4 is not that sexy. I don't know what they've done, but graphically it looks a lot more like any RTS out there. Some of the new gameplay sounds interesting (civics and religion), and as a Civ addict I will almost certainly give it a try, but I am a bit scared that they're actually taking the streamlining thing too far with Civ 4. The approach may have worked to produce a very accessible family-friendly game with Sid Meier's Pirates!, but I'm not sure Civ is the kind of game that needs to be further distilled or broken down at this point. Well, who knows what I'm talking about. For the record, I thought Civ 3 was totally awesome and well-balanced, even though it seems to be the least popular Civ with everyone else.

"Fox Interactive" (the games company) doesn't exist anymore. "Fox Interactive Media" is a newer division created for all their web stuff. Also yes they license out a lot of their properties for use in games. See main page news item for a quick rundown.

Super Monkey Ball DS has been confirmed in Famitsu! Hurray! Coming out this year still in Japan! DS rules! Also confirmed, a Spyro the Dragon light RPG, which ... has nice 2d graphics so it's nice. "
