  1. Hey guys the HAGELSLAG was mine! Eh? EH?
  2. By the way, this is from the original draft of the miniseries script. The Cylons were created by Man. They were the product of a desire to make life easier on the planet Kobol. At first, they were simple robots. Toys. Conversation pieces at parties for the rich and trendy. The Cylons became more advanced. Began to work the mines. Do the hard and dangerous work Man no longer wished to do. And when the people of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol decided to war against each other, the Cylons began to do their fighting and killing for them too. The Cylons were the greatest soldiers the planet had ever seen. Smart. Fast. Deadly. They made decisions without waiting for orders. And then the day came when the Cylons decided to kill their masters. When I first read that I was glad the VO intro got cut, but I loved the line "conversation pieces at parties for the rich and trendy". It gives some idea of what Caprica might be about, especially considering Adama's father was a lawyer.
  3. More details here: http://www.gateworld.net/galactica/index.shtml It's in very early development so word is that if it gets picked up it won't air until BSG is in season 4 or maybe even 5. It sounds like an awesome idea for a series, as long as they steer clear of involving BSG characters (or their ancestors) outside of the Adama family.
  4. Bananas, proof that god exists

Kingz, your new signature is incredible.
  5. Bone Part Dos

I'm pretty impressed by how the quality has improved (based on what I have seen so far). The scenes are a lot more interesting and dynamic than the screenshots lead you to believe. The production values might not be at a big-budget level, but they're made so much better by the camera movement and interactivity. I agree with Thrik that it's still not a "brilliant" game, but it's well above the average quality in the adventure genre. If the next game is a similar step up in quality, I might just become a genuine Telltale follower (instead of supporting them mainly because I like their vision and their shared LucasArts legacy). I have a feeling that Bone Act 3 or Sam & Max Act 1 (whichever comes first) will be Telltale's tipping point.
  6. half-life

I only really noticed HL2's AI when I played it on hard. I was surprised when I fled to a tunnel away from a particular combat scene and the guys actually kept chasing me through them.
  7. Headsmiley poll, round four!

I doubt it can actually be done.
  8. Headsmiley poll, round three!

    I miss the hands.
  9. Highway 17

Maybe it's not somuch that those people don't appreciate the story, but that they're uncomfortable liking something that is critically acclaimed and liked by many other people. I mean, does it make you hardcorererer if you're above "mainstream pap" like Half-Life 2? I have no idea what goes on in their heads. Let's kill them all.
  10. Headsmiley poll, round three!

After what must have been thousands of Waluigi injokes at E3 and GDC I think Jake is right. I am, apparently, "Walex". Or Alex is "Wamarek". We haven't figured that out yet.
  11. Highway 17

It has recently become cool to say that Half-Life 2 was overhyped and actually average. I'm so happy this forum isn't going along with that. Whenever I think back to any of the scenes you describe I'm reminded how great Half-Life 2 is. It is hands down The Greatest FPS Ever Made. No other FPS comes even close. I will always remember the excitement and the emotions I experienced when I first played it. Half-Life 2 is everything (and more) that I dreamed of as a kid when I was still playing Wolfenstein 3D. It is the dream game that I wished would some day be created, and it was. Let us never take this level of excellence for granted.
  12. Headsmiley poll, round three!

Why did so few of you vote for the scary painting guy? Isn't that the best smiley ever to express surprise?
  13. Futurama

I love the episode on the robot planet. "LET THE HUNT BEGIIIIIIN!" (Mac bootup chime) Probably the best joke of Futurama.
  14. Headsmiley poll, round four!

I have only seen season 1 and 2 of Futurama so the hilarity of the hyposlug sadly escaped me.
  15. Dreamfall gone gold

Whoa it was weird reading that back. It's funny and sad that purely as a result of being an AG preview, 90% of it dealt with concerns over action elements.P.S. If there's no tears running down character's eyes or no hairs moving, I totally want my money back.
  16. Headsmiley poll, round four!

I could!!! What is hypnotoad anyway?
  17. half-life

You can just get HL: Source. It's exactly the same game except slightly nicer looking. I only played the Blue Shift expansion and enjoyed it a lot. You pass through a lot of locations also seen in the original game, except you see it from another character's perspective.
  18. Headsmiley poll, round one!

Best five will gloriously proceed to the next round! The losers will hang their heads in shame, proving this is possible without a body.
  19. Great Gaming Quotes

"Conditions could hardly be more ideal." ... in Half-Life 2.
  20. Make a new heads smiley and win fa-bu-lous prizes the love of the forum. We've got these so far, and they're a colorful bunch, but it feels like we could still do better. So cut out a face, shrink it down to about 50 pixels wide, make sure the background is transparent, and post it here! We'll run a poll to decide the best heads, which will become permanent smileys.
  21. Magazines

Like, the ones they print on paper. I'm subscribed to: Wired I love it I love it I love it. Its techno utopianism can occasionally go a little overboard, but I take it for granted. Its focus on how technology relates to and affects people is pretty awesome, and I really admire their writing style. EDGE I have a 2 year subscription that will run out in probably half a year. I'm not sure if I'll extend. It's a good mag, and its features and interviews are a large part of the reason I subscribed, but lately some of the websites have gotten better at those things too. Outside of its unique features (i.e. previews, reviews) EDGE feels pretty cold. I've been thinking of subscribing to something of more general interest in place of EDGE, like maybe National Geographic, but that mag only has one or two articles I'm interested in per issue. What do you guys read?
  22. Whoa. Wait. I just realized that it'll be possible to strafe and shoot blindly to the side. That's a small thing that could be really big, maybe.
  23. Dreamfall gone gold

... in America. It did fine in Europe. About half a million copies total I'm told.
