Kotaku.com has some fun coverage. Joystiq.com has a couple of nice posts too. I don't bother reading any game previews because they're all written under extreme deadlines.

This reminds me. Jake, Alex and I were once talking about an RPG we wanted to make based on the life on a game journalist. It had like, turn-based random interview encounters with game designers, each with unique rhetorical abilities. Jaffe would drop the f-bombs, Molyneux had the hype multiplier, etc. It's too bad we didn't even make a design doc.

It's good (though you are not the first to have that idea).

The trailer is a pretty sad parody of this one. :/

The tilt thing is going to be really cool in a couple of games but in the grand scheme of things it's not going to help Sony. In fact it only helps Nintendo. The tilt thing is tacked on. It apparently won't be universally supported in all the games. Plus the controller still looks exactly like a PS2 dualshock so it's going to be hard to communicate its additional functionality to the mainstream. The thing that will sell the Wii is the unique shape of the controller and the fact that you can slash it as a sword, use it as a tennis racket, and so on. You can't slash a DualShock like a sword. Nintendo's controller remains an incredibly strong unique selling point. Taking into account the price tag, the contrast becomes even starker. After Sony's underwhelming conference I would say: - Nintendo's position is strengthened - Microsoft's position is unchanged as their online/multiplayer spearhead appears unthreatened by Sony Some might say that Microsoft is now in a poor position as they're the only ones without a motion sensitive controller, but that is not the correct analysis. Sony is currently the weakest of the three, particularly if Microsoft demonstrates many new Live features and Arcade games today.

I haven't seen the footage yet but oh man, this controller is a gift to Nintendo. It only helps to validate their approach, and it doesn't much benefit Sony as a tilt sensor is fairly limited in its functionality.

That's from a press release, so it's not an actual quote. It's something that is agreed upon as "the quote".

There's a blonde and a brunette at the same spot near the south hall entrance every year. I predict they will return. There we go, second hit on google for "e3 booth babes". They're pretty much an institution. No E3 without them!

It's at the end of this week's 1UP show. http://1upshow.1up.com It still looks unbelievable.

The youtube and 1up videos are different. Both are awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_g8vCqvIuec&search=White%20House%20Correspondents%20Dinner I saw the sketch with the two bushes on TV this morning (from the corner of my eye at least) and was like WTF is this doing on the news, and then I found out where it's actually from, and then I saw the whole Colbert thing. Pwn. :colbert: :colbert:

Are you familiar with these guys and their "debate" style? Stewart gave them plenty of chances to defend themselves (but they used those chances to attack). Don't feel sorry for them.
-
Ah yes another classic. Some say that appearance contributed to Crossfire's cancellation. Not sure if that's true (I doubt it, though awesome if it is), but holy crap Jon Stewart sure as hell knew how to mop the floor with those guys.

Oh and to answer this question, we definitely won't be providing coverage similar to last year's because only Doug and Jake are there this time, instead of like 10 people. Who knows, there may be a little coverage, but keep your expectations low.

The only regret I have about not going to E3 is not being able to try the Wii. Other than that I look forward to experiencing E3 from the comfort of my home this year. It's a lot cheaper, easier and you can actually process a lot more information than when you're on the show floor. Last year's E3 was a blast but that was more despite E3 than because of it. The money I save is almost enough to buy all three next-gen consoles! P.S. Will any websites broadcast Nintendo's conference live?

Evan knows that review was off the mark though he will never ever publically admit it. We joke about it all the time in the AG staff.

It's a pollstravaganza!

Ummm, no, they wouldn't have.

Okay that youtube clip is about half of it. A full version is floating around on bittorrent. It's fucking incredible and it includes Bush / audience reaction shots.

This thread made me watch season 4 for the first time. I kinda liked Roswell That Ends Well, and really liked Love and Rocket, Godfellas and Where No Fan Has Gone Before. The other ones ranged from utterly crap to merely watchable. I guess I'm not a big fan of the Parody Planet X or Theme Planet Y episodes that could just as well have worked on The Simpsons. Such episodes are only saved by the prescence of Zoidberg who is consistently bizarre and hilarious.

A collegue of mine had hagelslag with jalapeños today. It doesn't combine very well...
