Sony continues to simply rock, PS3 delayed again in Europe?
Marek replied to Kolzig's topic in Video Gaming
World War II (the most boring and overused game setting) combined with Alien Invasion (the second most boring and overused game setting) equals... I don't know, conceptual diarrhea? It's hard for me to think of a AAA game with a core premise more offputting to me than Resistance. -
The way I understand it they're just tackling certain issues and once they're solved certain games become BC. It isn't like they're saying "let's do Barbie's Horse Adventure before we start work on any of the good games". It's "problem X with emulation is now solved, so Barbie's Horse Adventure will work".So it's doubtful they specifically spent time getting "Fistful of boomstick" (what?) to work.

Apparently the sales of Viva Pinata isn't so hot, which I hope doesn't send Microsoft the message that only FPSes and RPGs work on this platform. If you're going to introduce something new, it will take a while for it to catch on...

G Money is great. I'm sending everyone an awesome Adama. Not sure who watches BSG here so I'll just spam you all with it.

Well, there's even two of them (don't forget the yardsale one!).

Sorry to burst your bubble ysbreker but companies frequently deny things that are in fact a reality. From the mumblings and rumblings I've heard, it's definitely Q4 2007 for PS3 in Europe (unless miracles start happening). -
The Fallout MMO has been mentioned before. I'll be really surprised if it materializes. I'll be double surprised if it somehow does materialize (by forces unknown) and not end up being horrible. Interplay is near-bankrupt and doesn't really exist anymore as a real company. The Fallout MMO is kind of the last thread it's hanging by. More of a money trap than a real game you should get excited about at this point.

(This thread split off from this one.) The reason thumb doesn't get updated much these days is that everyone got cool industry jobs. It's pretty absurd how fast that went. but also for thumb.

Heh to be honest my perception of Scandinavian weather is based strongly on what contacts from Finland and Norway told me, such as having to dig their way out of their house in the winter. I have to say Malmo in late summer (my only visit to the region so far) was really nice. The people I'm talking about probably live near spitsbergen or something.

Nintendo banked £30m last week, Wii fastest selling console ever

Yes, because then: - I would have easily understood that you didn't get the reference, and weren't randomly repeating someone's words - I could have replied that the first Donkey Game took place on a scaffolding -

A post doesn't have to be a New York Times feature article. I myself frequently post things that are very poorly thought out. What annoys me are the short one or two sentence posts that do not communicate anything. E.g. if you don't understand why Donkey Kong was brought up in that thread, post "what do you mean with Donkey Kong?" and not a super ambiguous post that simply repeats a line from someone else. It doesn't take a genius writer to make that kind of change. Elmuerte, the only thing I'm asking of you is to try a bit harder. -

No it isn't. "Chart history" is a frequently used combination of words.Sometimes I wonder how many seconds on average you spend writing your posts. Such as in the other thread where you posted "Like Donkey Kong?" and all I'm thinking is... uh, didn't we already cover that? Or your reply saying "what destruction?" in Rodi's wall painting thread. Or in the innovation in the game industry thread where you wrote "People should stop comparing games with movies. It's bad for the computer games business" without any kind of supporting arguments. When someone asks for them, you say that you mind doing that, as if you're doing people a big favor by explaining what you mean. I hope you'll contribute some more interesting posts around here because it's been annoying me a lot. Some random/funny banter is definitely welcomed here, but your posts actually rarely add value to threads and often border on trolling. So please stop it. -
Donkey Kong but with weed and whores! Rly.

Regarding America, what loonyboi said. Although, on the other hand, I wouldn't consider working and living there now because of the current political climate. You might think that's crazy too, and you'd be at least partially right since in your day-to-day life you would rarely notice the politics, but out of principle I couldn't be part of a country that's diametrically opposed to what I think is good for the world. (Read: I think the US is a war mongering and torturing police state. ) To be honest I can't think of any ideal places to go for a game industry job. The scandinavian countries are amazingly cool, but too cold. UK is nice, but too rainy. I like France, but it's too Frenchy. So I think I'll stay in Holland for the time being, despite its game industry still being under a lot of scaffolding.

I've been really getting into Entourage lately. It's nice that there's a series about Hollywood stardom and hot chicks that doesn't suck enormous ass. Ari is hilarious.

Yeah this is definitely not a kids game in terms of mechanics. You have to manage a lot of complex things at the same time. I disagree with the apparent general sentiment on forums that it would be unsuitable for kids though. I mean, yeah, don't give this to a 4 year old kid. But kids who are a bit older will figure this game out. It might take them three times as long, but they can do it. When I was really young I figured out really complex games (that weren't even in my own language) purely by trial and error. And I was not a particularly "smart kid". I've been playing pinata for a couple of days now. At one point I had so many animals that there were fights constantly, so I sold everything except the whirlms and started over. Now I'm trying to get the master breeder awards for all the animals.

That must mean you have absolutely no idea what kind of show BSG is...

RDM uses a different episode count than the rest of the world. The season opener was in fact a double episode. So some call the last episode #10, others #11, and everyone is confused.
-
There's still an episode next week that promises to be just that.

Wait. They scan forums for opinions? :shifty:

Gears and Pinata. Haven't really gotten into Gears yet, I'm still in Act 1. Pinata is a blast.

I bought a 360! My gamertag is Gwarek.

Hay ne1 playing browsar gaems? By which I mean games that are played in the browser (minus casual puzzle/word games that you can download from portals). I'm talking about things like ARGs or Browser RPGs. Earlier this year I played Kingdom of Loathing for two months, which is hilarious and very well designed (structurally it's a bit of a mess, but there's a lot of creative and fun ideas in it). Another really cool web game is Urban Dead. I also played this Maffia RPG for a while, which is shit in many ways, but our company did contract work on it in 2005 so I kinda had to play it. It's ridiculously popular for what it is. Most of these games are kinda like text adventures or MUDs disguised as websites. Has the intersphereblogotubeweb produced any other games worth trying? (RuneScape is disqualified... just because.)
