My third creature so far: Thanks for that tip Cigol! You can also try holding down Control when placing limbs (you can place limbs on top of limbs). Also try the Tab button for advanced rotation tools on things such as eyes.

Yeah they actually had a whole sub-team work on various filter/review systems.

Yeah Brighton is great. If you or anyone on the forums are in Brighton at any point and want to get a beer let me know (send me a PM or something).

I've been busy finding a hideout and unlocking missions in Brighton.
-
I've seen it on DVD but I imagine BluRay is actually worth it, yes.

Happy birthday! And good luck at your new job also!

Spaff is visiting me in Holland next week so it would be fun to play something good together. Any recommendations you guys might have? I enjoyed Assault Heroes and Guitar Hero II co-op. Haven't tried much else.

Just got to the part where and it genuinely affected me for a bit. This story is actually good.

Sadly Brian Crecente does see his site as some kind of cradle of game journalism. Did you know he was once a crime reporter? A CRIME REPORTER. And that apparently gives him an infinite stack of Get Out of Jail Free cards for all the crap 'journalism' Kotaku does. Just joining in on the crankyness. I'm quite a social person you see.

I've been playing GTA4 at a leisurely pace for the past 10 days or so, playing it every now and then on Spaff's Xbox (my own Xbox is still broken and even if it wasn't I'm living in a hotel for the moment). Normally I would have played it intensively and tried to complete it asap but playing a few hours at a time is actually much nicer and allows you to absorb the game a bit better. Anyway, GTA4 is a technical marvel and very impressive from an "omg graphics" and "omg assets" perspective, but I especially like how the core of the game is somehow a lot tighter now. It's like a more distilled version of the formula. I'm also really enjoying the story so far, which is the most human of any GTA to date. I love that Nico Bellic has a past, and also has a goal (besides pursuing the American Dream). They've subtly added a bit of dramatic realism in many ways... I mean, even the new wanted system, the lack of jetpacks et al, and the removal of AmmuNation in favor of obscure underground shops, kind of help the story indirectly. The missions kind of stayed at the same level of quality and are a bit uninteresting sometimes, though maybe I've just played too much iterations of GTA. I love some of the little ideas sprinkled around some of the missions though, like throwing a brick into a store window, or threatening a guy with a gun / shooting his knee instead of killing him. Good stuff.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUSALKA. Hey, maybe I should come to Brighton like tomorrow and like tell you that in person.

Double Fine were awarded for Best New Studio and Best Writing by their peers at the Game Developers Choice Awards last week. You probably knew this already, but I wanted to make a thread for it anyway. They got a roaring applause. I think apart from Chris Hecker's ode to video games, or Darwinia's team dropping the f-bomb on publishers, Double Fine got the biggest applause of the whole awards ceremony. Double Fine are clearly loved by many people in the industry. It was awesome. Congrats to Tim Schafer and his team. They totally deserve it. Oh, and there were also other winners.

Lately I've been enjoying The Raconteurs - Consolers Of The Lonely. Really good. I've been rebuilding my iTunes library which I lost in the tragic stepping-onto-laptop incident of December 2007. Stuff I've just recovered and am re-enjoying: * Art Brut - Bang Bang Rock & Roll. Nice simple rock album with a sense of humor. Fun lyrics. * Nouvelle Vague - Bande A Part. Cover band does various 80ies songs in bossa nova / loungey style. Not for everyone,y. * OK Go - Oh No. Has some good stuff. * LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver. Very nice.

I did some game design consulting for Papermint. I remember that exchange, I just didn't remember it right before I went to Vienna. Oh well, maybe next time.
-
Haha well to each his own.
-
Dude! I was in Vienna like 2 weeks ago (I was working at Avaloop for a week). We could have totally met up. Fail.
-
Um yeah you shouldn't watch anything with rifftrax/mst3k you actually intended seeing.
-
Hahahah, nice!

I saw Transformers last week, which was exactly as shit as I expected it to be. Normally I wouldn't be able to stand more than 10 minutes of this crap, but fortunately I was watching it with Rifftrax on, which made it totally hilarious and awesome. Then I saw Cloverfield with Rifftrax, which was also great. It's always great when these guys pick something to be a running joke for the entire movie and in this case they really pick Hud constantly going "dude, dude.... dude, bro! bro, hey man, dude", which eventually becomes quite rofl-worthy. I'm now watching Jurassic Park with Rifftrax, which has Weird Al Yankovich as a guest riffer, and so far it's incredible. "Assume the winded fanboy position!" In conclusion: Rifftrax.

Good luck man! It's a good environment for making games at the moment, especially web games. Doesn't mean it'll be easy, but you picked a good time to do this. Hope it will work out for you!
