Same as Rodi for me. Well, I spent an afternoon doing that already, but then I made a huge mistake and accidentally deleted half my new Excel rows, so I need to do it again. I could outsource that shit but I guess it's not really enough work to make that worth it.

From what I can tell those guys have had a pretty long and horrible journey trying to get any publisher support for Metronome. The originality and lack of track record probably made it very difficult to get any funding. They made have gotten close though. In 2007 I was pitching a project to a certain company, and the company rep randomly told us on his cig break that they were going to sign City of Metronome. It made me very excited. It was also a bit weird because this company wasn't really a widely known name in game publishing, so it seemed like a cool coincide to hear they'd picked up Metronome. They were also very enthusiastic about investing in our project but then they never got back and it all fizzled out, so I'm assuming the same happened to them. Anyway, I'm glad that a Rag Doll Kung Fu sequel has been outsourced to Tarsier. They seem like cool guys and I hope they'll succeed.

Yeah, it seems to be going well! I'm happy for them. They deserve to succeed.

Since he's a frequent and outspoken err, speaker, at conferences I can definitely imagine him being a little frustrated with how the internet can distort his opinions. His hour long MIGS talk for instance was pretty deep and interesting whereas, as I recall, the two paragraph (or whatever) Kotaku write-up of it made it sound reaaally... different.

Some people argue that short-selling is good, because short-sellers help keep an eye on companies for any bad stuff. But I don't know, short-selling always seemed completely absurd and cynical to me, like strapping little financial bombs to the legs of a company.

Yeah no it's NOT a documentary at all clearly, but it does offer some kind of (entertaining but not completely unrealistic) view of what it would take to be a stock trader... like, it's not a complete fluff show like Big Brother where people just dick around... but also not a pulitzer prize winning expose on the inner workings of stock trading. I hope that was clear.

That post sounds terribly depressing and I choose to ignore it. Well, okay, I'm not really ignoring these kinds of opinions/predictions (in fact I've been following the blog of at least one epic doomsayer for two years), but I think it's a bad idea to let it personally influence you too much. Whenever there's a crisis there's always people who stay blindly optimistic, and people who say the sky is falling. The truth is usually in the middle. I admit there's a distinct sense of fin de siècle in the air though, and probably rightfully so. I'm trying to be mentally prepared for anything, but I'm fundamentally positive. If there's a bubble that needs to burst, it needs to burst. Sometimes really bad shit can have a positive outcome when it becomes a catalyst for much-needed change. Does that make any sense? I don't know what else to say (nor do I truly understand everything of the post you linked to, to be honest).

My favorite bit is when she talks about a hippo who is allergic to magic. If I get to work on an MMO or RPG again I'm going to find a way to get magic allergy in there. If your character class has it, drinking a health potion will actually give you a massive debuff.

I sort of enjoy BSG still but I also don't care anymore. At the start of the episode I had actually forgotten what Apollo's role was. Still the president? A president? Pilot? Lawyer? What? I also kinda forgot who the four cylons were, believe it or not. Things move around too much. Also too many SUPER DRAMATIC THINGS happen each episode that it makes them all seem less significant as a result. I was like "oh. they killed off another character. right..." But whatever. It's fine I guess, but this series definitely needs to conclude.

Oh weird. I clicked the PDA link and then pasted the URL here. I guess it doesn't remember it. Anyway, I intended to link to the PDA version.

Idle Thumbs UK 2: Conversation Killer

Yeah I failed to play more EVE due to having to wrap some stuff up now that I have a new job in the pipeline. I'll probably log in again this week though. I heard about the contribution that small vessels can make in large battles. They actually call them tacklers don't they? It sounds cool. I've been told several times that the real fun doesn't start until about 6 months in though, when you really have a deep understanding of the world and things start to really matter to you. -

Hey Kingz! Zivanadivniodncviic! Okay, half the forum is probably wondering what's going on here. Kingzjester: forum veteran, also wrote and did art for Idle Thumbs, in fact the logo was drawn by him. Nice to see you posting again. -

Oops, the RSS feed may be borked until Jake can take a look at it. Until then only the direct link will work. -

Man, in the intros it always seems like I'm laughing about nothing, which is weird. It's probably because they're not the first takes, or because someone is making faces at me in the background or whatever. Nothing like a podcast to make you super self-conscious. -
Hahaha oh man I remember Jake joking about that in like... February last year. I didn't know he actually went on to register it!

BTW I completely shat my pants when I listened to the original of ELO "Here Is The News" as the first 20 seconds or so of that song are also a highly emblematic theme used in a bunch of TV bumpers/leaders of a Dutch broadcaster when I was younger. It was utterly bizarre to hear that bit followed by a beat kicking in and hearing an entire song attached. This is how I remember that shit: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=N5IY7TvdTXs&feature=related And there was a mexican version as well apparently: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nXD3g_9tyxI&feature=related
