Overwatch - That time Blizzard made a non-Diablocraft game.
noiseredux replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
is anyone still playing Overwatch? I played the beta, pre-ordered and then bailed soon after. But I'm playing it now and really really loving it. I'm not good yet. But I'd love to talk strategy and maybe play some rounds with anyone interested in helping me out. -
Marvel Netflix shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, etc.)
noiseredux replied to SecretAsianMan's topic in Movies & Television
I'm excited for Defenders too. I think it could be unique. Jessica Jones was my favorite. I don't know how to word this... I think Daredevil was probably the "best" show, but I enjoyed JJ the most. DD just has some great stuff with Kingpin, Elektra, Punisher. It's a great show. But JJ really grabbed me. Luke Cage I felt like was too long. I feel like there were episodes I loved, and then ones I didn't. The acid bath one comes to mind. I'm no doctor, but that one felt really baffling to me. Then again, these are comic book shows, so whatever. I did enjoy it overall. I'm not excited about Iron Fist. I wasn't before the reviews rolled in. But I'm sure I'll watch it just because. But I am excited for Defenders. -
Idle Thumbs 299.5: Reader Mail Spectacular
noiseredux replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
seriously. I'd love a weekly/biweekly/monthly show that's just a Bagblast about games. Meaning, you guys don't have to play games to be prepared. Just let us write in questions/comments about games to give you guys something to talk about. Food for thought? No pressure! -
^I think I got a beta key for that from Nvidia somehow. I don't really know anything about the Ghost Recon games, though so I didn't even read the email haha.

well, I didn't own a console when the game was actually released. And I figured I'd be holding out for an inevitable PC release. But I now have an Xbox One in my possession (sitting under the TV, but streaming games to my PC...), so now I'm kind of using it to supplement my PC gaming with stuff I didn't have access to otherwise. So I'm kind of sort of interested in FFXV now.

this actually looks/sounds pretty damn interesting. And free. I like free.

oh dude, now I feel awful. I sold my spare Wii earlier this year for like $30. :\ I'd have been happier knowing it went to your cause. I'm actually surprised that they're going for so much right now. I feel like for a while there they were tough to give away.

I saw that announcement... but does it really effect us Rift owners? I'm not being condescending or anything - I'm genuinely asking. I mean, it's still a huge VR format right? Just because the company took a hit I don't know if that means that developers will shy away from the install base. (Or am I being optimistically naive?)

Idle Thumbs 299: Somebody, Somewhere, Somehow, Something
noiseredux replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
This. In the past a lot of my favorite talk has just been about whatever happened to be exciting whoever that week. A good example is when Chris would talk about Fallout Shelter. I always got the impression that that just happened to be what he was playing, so that's what got talked about. And for the record, I was always fine with hearing the same game discussed on multiple episodes. I don't know, it's more organic. Whatever is on your mind - that's what you'll have the best thoughts regarding. So bring it on even if that's more Hitman, Dark Souls, Mario Run or Jurassic Park, or some show you guys are watching, or Jurassic Park, or a new album, or whatever. -
well at least it's a good time to be GPU shopping. The GTX 1000 series and AMD's new 400 cards are all big bangs for your buck.
-
Are all you guys who are having graphics woes running AMD GPU's? I'm just wondering because my GTX 970 is no longer cutting edge, but I was actually all woahs and wows about how fantastic this game looks and the fact that I've not seen a moment of slowdown or anything. (Although I do have a G-Sync monitor so there's that too). @ostrich: Wow, you really plowed through this one! Guess you weren't as big a baby as you thought haha. I need to get back into this. I got so busy after my initial time with it. I'm hoping to play some tonight. @Bjorn: That's such an awesome way to play. Buddy system!

yeah supposed one year VR exclusive... VR platform exclusivity - JUST what VR needs to catch on with the masses! Ugh. My guess is we'll see some unofficial mod before a year from now. Maybe it already exists, I haven't looked into it. If VR worked right away then I'd have tried it. But honestly, it'll probably be too scary for me in VR anyway haha.

Idle Thumbs 298: For You, Not Them
noiseredux replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Chris, I 100% get everything you're saying. And ultimately - why would you want non-job stuff to feel job-like? I completely feel that. I mean I'm bummed as a listener. You guys are definitely my favorite show. But I also don't want you to burn yourself out more. I mean, if you keep the show and talk about Whatever, then I'll listen. If you talk about video games when you happen to play them, I'll still listen. So... bummed, but supportive? -
great analogy. And I kind of do the same. This game really is amazing because - as you described - it's scary, but you want to keep checking it out. It's struck a fantastic balance of fun and omg-please-no! And I feel myself getting braver with it... but still get startled haha. Assuming you've wandered into the shack now, have you found the first VHS? This whole gameplay device is awesome. And I really want to praise the visuals of this game. I'm still rocking a 970 which isn't cutting edge anymore, but this game looks insanely good.
-
that's awesome. What a badass game to bond over haha.
-
wow, that's awesome Bjorn. How old is she out of curiosity? You mentioned RE5 co-op, and that one always seems to get shit on (mostly for being the numbered one after RE4). But I actually think it's a pretty great co-op experience. It's actually the only RE game I was ever able to convince my wife to play for any extended stretch of time. And actually, I still need to go back and play that expansion that took place in the old mansion.
-
after the first hour of playing, I feel like being a baby who plays baby games is a totally valid life choice. This game is pretty creepy. When I first even got to the little shack house I stood outside for a while just thinking "there's no way I'd go inside this place in real life."

I started playing this game called Herobound over the weekend. It's basically a VR 3D-Zeldalike.

There's lots of games to be played on those other OS tablets, but I'm always interested in games that work well on a Windows tablet. Point and click adventure stuff is obvious - but what other games seem to work specifically well?
-
I feel like I do this every six months or so... I start to think that a Windows tablet makes sense in my head as this ultimate portable gaming device. And then I hit a point where I realize that there's so much more stuff made w/ tablets in mind for Android/iOS and I should just stick with portable gaming that way. :\

oh I just found this thread. Long time listener. My wife and I use "sly boots" often in conversation with strangers. I like games. I'm not sure what else to say. Hello!
