  1. Day of the Tentacle Special Edition

That's info from the Double Fine forums, and it is legit. As I understand it, they don't yet know what they are going to use. If Double Fine doesn't like what Singapore did with the backgrounds, they're throwing it out. Same goes for animation. If they find themselves able to finish what LA Singapore begun - and rumor has it that they were VERY far along - we may get an actual Special Edition. ...yes, "Special Edition" mostl likely by the definition of LucasArts as reiterated by Jake. : ( But all is not lost before we actually see those creations. Damn, I wish DF gave us a look into their cards just now.
  2. Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita

Got through the second year just now without any major bugs. Was expecting more, I've heard a lot of reports about crashes. Up to now, none on my PC.
  3. Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita

I can't say anything about the pipe puzzle. The pipe puzzle is the only thing I still remember from 14 years ago (apart from the soundtrack, which I listened to every year). And when I got Grim Fandango to run afterwards, that was about as far as I got before reproducible crashes or ridiculous controls killed off my interest. What comes now, I only remember faintly, and knowledge of the puzzles is wiped out almost completely. I'll tell you in a week how difficult they really are.
  4. Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita

Yeah, bandcamp very welcome, I'm buying. I guess Disney wouldn't like it though - Tim has stated that merchandise is a problem rights-wise, and the soundtrack certainly counts as such. It's not that much has changed though. I rather guess they have about three new minutes Melbourne orchestra total and some very few "hey that's different" additional instrument audio tracks played by Peter himself (which is, granted, a plus ).
  5. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I checked some of those accounts and found most of my sample still up and running. Association with gamergate is the norm on these accounts. The accounts weren't created with the sole purpose of and immediately before harrassing Sarkeesian - some have been around for a long time. The harrassment is entirely coincidental. This_is_gamergate. I tried to find out whether the Lizzy doxx was made by a new or an old 8chan account; not surprisingly, I found squat. The reaxxion article in particular equaled "gamers" with "gamergaters" and then claimed that joystiq had failed to cater to "their target group". They're kids and imbecile grown-ups with delusions of power and vicious plans to oppress game journalism in favor of the cult's diffuse and shifting ideology. A victory cry over factually reduced diversity in game journalism, that is as telling about gamergate as it gets.
  6. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Ugh... gamergate garbage outlets are already celebrating joystiq's demise as a huge victory (I won't link to articles as usual). Make sure to post here when the former staff (not the site itself) make Kickstarters, open patreon accounts or whatever. For these guys, there should always be a target audience, and it isn't the gamergate cult.
  7. Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita

THIS is the way it's meant to be played.
  8. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Nope, in my country, a finance minister has to properly escape a huge money laundering scandal unscathed first.
  9. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

The whole Curator system actually struck me as THE conflation of press and publisher that shouldn't have happened last year, an actual epic industry ethics issue that consequently was ignored by the entirety of gamergate. No idea what Valve's doing with that stuff nowadays. Steam's not my publisher, at all.

She was 100% prepared for that, and she fielded this marvellously. I've distanced myself quite a bit from Alexander since she heralded an 'abandonware' hence piracy site on twitter, but I know that right now, her voice is a very important one. I'm surprised that gaters still attempt this argument though; a review without opininon, without subjectivity, without passion, without ideology, with just the bare marketing facts – that's decidedly not what anyone wants. Gaters accept opinions on matters of graphics, performance, or gameplay; but not on narrative, where it is most important. A games critique you'd find in a very similar way about comics, books, movies, or TV series becomes an injection of ideology in the gater world. As far as I know, El Totalbisquito himself has argued against that crappy idea (he is, after all, opinionated). The gamergate ideology is alterable and elusive, just as most conspiracy theories. Imbecile arguments stand at the beginning and are then refined over time to sound just a little less imbecile, so that the opposite side is kept busy disproving the old bullshit disguised as new bullshit. You'd think that an argument as visibly idiotic as this one would quickly change in the cult's doctrine so that their declared political enemy can't verbally obliterate them quite as obviously any more. But maybe this element of utter conspiracy is too ingrained in gamergate core values. Hopefully, this revealing archaism is gamergate's doom. B-b-but what if Curator demands that I go there *sob*
  11. Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita

No, I don't usually play games on ultra hard, particularly not for "achievements".

The gamergate cult is, in its diverse PR, not overtly fascist. However, it slides into fascist territory quite easily – with its hilariously traditional male role models (e.g. reaxxion's "masculinity score" in game reviews), in its methods to slander and harrass the opposition, and of course especially in the proposed "winning conditions" regarding literal oppression and control of the press. Naturally, these ideals appeal to nazis and other supremacist isms, and we would find them on gamergate's side. Nazis are painting gamergate as nazist just as misogynists are painting gamergate as misogynist. Gamergate is taking in what strengthens gamergate, because the mindless consumer movement is drunk with power, and not interested in ideology. No prominent gamergate figurehead raises the finger, because pointing at problematic parts of the cult means weakening the movement (gamergaters may never signal disaccord with anything gamergate). And as a result all these people are part of gamergate. Nazis included for mere want of power. For example, Auernheimer is a self proclaimed nazi, and he easily gets injected into gamergate culture by proven video game hater Milo Yiannopoulos: It really doesn't matter to them. They're just taking it in, all in, the male supremacists, the racists, the de facto corrupt journalists, the harrassers. No coherent ideology means that practically any ideology is welcome. That is gamergate's appeal, that's what makes gamergate strong.
  13. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Gamergate, PEGIDA etc. are movements supporting the ludicrous idea that a culture's strength is born out of a rejection of the foreign instead of an embrace. History has always proven otherwise. I don't have more to say at the moment. : (
  14. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Hey, at least no one screams "fake", "professional victim" and "she brought it upon herself" this time. Isn't THAT something.
  15. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Sickening proceedings again. Gamergate figurehead – naturally, 'cause female – lizzyf620 (recently featured in a reaxxion interview) was doxxed, and quite impressively so. The data was posted by a /baphomet/ community member on that forum. And Lizzy's out of the whole gamergate issue, protesting the innocence of both sides. For /baphomet/, the guy naturally wasn't "one of them", and lizzy wasn't "a lolcow worthy of raiding". The revolution devours its children, chewing on their bones and spitting them in a dumpster. Okay, moving on. All the best to Lizzy, of course.
  16. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I don't think there actually is any kind of effect feministfrequency has on the sales of those games. The gaters would rather buy twice the amount of games while especially the most avid Sarkeesian fans understand that it's OK to buy and enjoy a video game which contains misogynist tropes. And sure enough, "the Badger" is well aware how the gater backlash to TvW videos works in favor of the AAA industry: Gamergate threatens journalists, who become more dependant on publisher money as a result. And gamergate threatens indie developers with diversity on their flags, who are a political enemy to gamergate's ample ultra conservative forces. Sarkeesian takes a look at AAA games mostly, and gamergate is a big fucking present to AAA developers.
  17. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

They ask you log into to their comment section with a Steam account. Let's just say that's where I draw the line on journalistic integrity. That last part with the rolling in the grass... that may be figuratively true. Me neither, until a few weeks ago. I think Sterling didn't even make a fuzz. But it was pretty clear that he criticised the Escapist for its gamergate stance. And of course he's doing VERY well on Patreon.
  18. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Juicy. It's the future of games journalism.
  19. Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita

Essentially, what Tim and Cie. should have done 18 years ago anyway.
  20. GOG added six new LucasArts games today (20 JAN)

I saw that. And am hopeful. Then again, LucasArts has so many Star Wars games in its basement that they could release six every week for months.
  21. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I usually stay away from Breitbart, but Spiers has linked to a recent article. Yannopoulos is now giving Auernheimer a platform for trolling. The gamergate cult is on the ultra right side of politics anyway, but they will have to be very careful not to slip even further here. What will not happen is that gamergaters renounce Lord Milo, but at least some statements to the effect that convicted harrassers with palm sized swastikas tattoed on their chest do not reflect their 'movement', those are definitely due.
  22. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Change of topic. Silverstring media, at the center of some of gamergate's wildest conspiracy theories, speaks out against the cult. http://www.gameranx.com/features/id/26194/article/game-developer-interviews-about-gamergate-silverstring-media/
  23. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

My critique of the game mechanics particularly of Telltale's recent games would be much the same! But the fact that I find those mechanics to be not satisfying, not engaging, not challenging doesn't make this media "not-a-game". Imagine the most stupid and luck based of card games – you throw one of your cards in the middle of the table every other minute, and at one point you're done. Not satisfying, not engaging, not challenging. Still undoubtedly "a game". Also, what children count as "game" would be ruled out by gamergate cultists in digital form, particularly all varieties of the "pretend" (hence "roleplay") game. All games, all, all games...
  24. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

No, that's not what we'd call interactive entertainment.
  25. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

And any game from "No Goblin" is of course going to fail the test...
