I love hearing people talk about the Scholastic Book Club, because that's a huge childhood memory of mine and I'm a bit younger and also Australian. Getting your parents to buy you look-and-find books from a magazine is a global phenomenon, apparently.

Well, "ethics" is just an anagram of "cis het."

#4 sounds like something out of but I'm not sure if that's right, or if it is right which track it would be.

I think the numbers indicate what year the games are from, and the asterisks mean that there are that many additional games from the same year? So there are three games from 2014 in there, if that's correct.

Oh yeah, you're absolutely right. I love that soundtrack, too.

Ooh, I think #15 is

Quick amendment to number 9.

I'm only confident about two of these, 3 and 9. 12, 14 and 20 sound really familiar too. Everything else, no idea.

On dad jokes and dadly behaviour, my dad absolutely loves asking wait staff about misspelled or badly formatted items on a restaurant menu. He doesn't point out the error but he makes sure to ask about the food and call it by its misspelled named. Like, "What's in the lamp stew?" or "What's the Mildred curry like?" He also does this thing where, when he orders, he sorta hunches down in his chair like a little boy.

That's a great piece, Henroid.

I'm sorta with Gav on the fight club idea. I mean, violence doesn't solve anything, but the last few weeks have been so frustrating and draining and I'm not even in the industry. I'm just watching this shit happen. Give me one of the anonymous eggs on Twitter, and we can punch on. I might end up with a 12 year old boy, or I might end up with a 700-ton MMA fighting killbot. I'm willing to spin that wheel.

I'd guess they think that "there isn't a police report, because there was no harassment."

Come gather round children, it's high time ye learns; 'Bout a hero named "gamer" and a devil named "journs."

Sounds more sarcastic than anything.

I was thinking that they might not want to have to hold L3 to have their character lay in the mud so a woman can walk across their back. To keep her shoes clean.

One thing I see crop up quite often when Tropes vs. Women comes up is the idea that Anita Sarkeesian is out to "ruin video games" or "destroy" them or "attack the medium." What I don't understand about this idea (because it never gets elaborated on by the people who make the claim) is why? Or, what would happen if she did? Let's say Anita successfully destroys video games, and you wake up the next day and go to the store and pick up the new Assassin's Creed. What are people worried that game is going to look like? What do these people think the industry would even look like, post-Sarkeesian-destruction?

Idle Thumbs 173: Ridonkulous Rift
Jordan A replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Not really a joke, but I chuckled when they were describing how the Oculus Rift works and it turns out "your neck is your neck." And I'm like "whoa, it is." -
I don't think it affects the ending you got but it felt more in-character, in the moment.

It's not explicit, because there's no Y button "..." option, but you can remain silent there by letting the timer run out and Clem will do both things you wanted.

Do they consider there to be a difference between a Polygon "staffer" and a Polygon "contributor?"
