  1. Invest in neighbouring countries. The "refugee crisis", illegal immigration in the US (and other places) is because people want to leave bad places and go to better places. More often than not, these bad places are bad because of the good places. The US sustains Mexico's drug economy, the war on drugs hasn't done anything to change that. The Syrian refugee crisis happened because of war whose roots could be, convincingly, have roots in destabilization and strife in the region caused by western powers meddling in it. but whatever, the point is, if countries helped each out each other in meaningful ways and the developed nations helped the under-developed ones (and no, IMF/World Bank is not the answer) then there would be less reasons for people to risk their lives, the well-being of the families, and give up ever seeing their homelands again just to get a chance at a better life or to support their families financially from abroad. And stop fighting wars and de-stabilizing already fragile regions too.
  2. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

I have been summoned to provide the next Cook Club theme~ The next theme will be Eat Your Name: each letter of your name (first or last or middle or username or nickname or short version of your name) shares the first letter of an ingredient. make something of that. So for example, Jake could be: jalapenos, allspice, kale, edam cheese. and the dish has to include those 4 things, but can also include other ingredients.
  3. I have no skills but if this is an entry-level position i will take it!
  4. The Next President

It was a little disappointing - Trump didn't seem as brash and crazy and I guess I was looking forward to the crazy. Hillary did a great job and the more I see her the more confidence I have in her.
  5. International Politics

I feel that it's been like this since the Cold War, more or less.
  6. The Next President

I have always been taught and read that it is intentionally vague because the Constitution was meant to be a living document hat could be changed with time as society and the people under it changed. The founders were smart and if anything got overestimated, it was the people of the future. The Constitution was also written at a time when the US was supposed to be weaker federally and executive-ally (?) and the states were supposed to have more - at least as I understand it but its been a while - which changed after the Civil War.
  7. Far Cry 2

Finally finished the game after playing it on and off for a better part of a year, and having fun doing sidemissions. Good experience, decided to throw myself straight into Far Cry 3 which, while entertaining and takes a fair bit from Far Cry 2, is an interesting contrast. Anyway, reading Cigol's comment above - I didn't use vehicles that much in Far Cry 2. I tried to stay off the road as best as I could - not because it was tedious (it wasn't usually) to go through the checkpoints, but to conserve ammo. Shortcuts in the jungle were usually faster too, and I did use the bus system a lot as well to get around quickly. Spent a fair bit on the rivers as well, since those battles were faster than the checkpoints (and used less ammo) so I didn't get too frustrated with respawning enemies. Don't think the lack of NPCs made it feel "empty" either and your buddies are some of my favorite NPCs. Liked the twist at the end too. Anyway, I thought it was great, although when I first started I could only play for 30-45 minutes at a time because I was stressing myself out. Played it on the hard difficulty with music off so no cues for upcoming fights - added a lot to the tension. The story was good too. Sometimes I wish the stealth aspects were better, but in Far Cry 3 I can literally just walk behind people and no one will see me, which is too much.
  8. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

loosely based on http://www.budgetbytes.com/2016/03/thai-curry-vegetable-soup/ but added meat and some other mods posted it in slack a week ago, forgot to put it here.

declan, I have to ask you if the William Pugh interview felt as awkward towards the end as it sounded. I can't decide if it just went off-rails or if it was partly planned from the beginning.
  10. Pokemon GO

this is exactly why i am liking it right now. I know how shallow it is, but its not my goto mobile game and i never thought it would be. first of all, you can't really play while on toilet. But its fun to whip out while walking around the city just to check stuff out, and the pokestops are everywhere and I find it fascinating that i'm discovering things in my neighborhood i haven't noticed in 5+ years. Granted, I live in an old ass city with a lot of old ass stuff so that might be why.
  11. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

I always used to consider steampunk to be a version of cyberpunk without a move to digital technology. i.e. it is still relatively high-tech but everything is done in elaborate mechanical contraptions instead of slick digital gadgets.
  13. This game has slowly been eating away at my hearthstone time. I find it more fun and crazy in a good way. My name on there should be the same as the one here if anyone is interested. I do wish the lore was presented differently though. I remember being excited for it before it was released in the game and now that it is being released, walls of text with voiceover is not doing it for me.

  15. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

nice jambalaya thing! and it's close to sausage so i am counting it. eventhough it's a free period. Paella/Jamablaya-like things is one of my go-tos.
  16. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

Behold, Sucks2Bme's sausage rolls! Ingredients: 1 beef hotdog (cooked) Mashed Potatoes Shrimp Salad Tortilla Shrimp Salad Includes: Shrimp a little bit of Mayo a little bit of yellow mustard finely chopped yellow onion finely chopped radishes dill Came out pretty good but I am shit at rolling tortillas and the ones i got were a bit too small. Originally, you are supposed to use Swedish flatbread, but I am not going out to IKEA any time soon. Also, i got the shrimp frozen and they weren't the best quality. Not bad, but some of the shrimpy flavour had been lost. Anyway, still good, would have been better with actual tunnbröd though. There are two pictures, one pre-rolled and one of post-roll. Also, I apologize for the crap pictures, I am in the middle of moving house and everything here is an absolute mess.
  17. Freelancing Thumbs - We write right, alright?

I'm stuck on this month's blogs of the round table. I keep telling myself I will do them every month but it usually is once every three :/

I was so "bleh" on Crate and Crowbar but its really grown on me. (also, Pip has joined, which is great, and she makes it weird - to steal from pete holmes - which is kind of funny) still listen to daft souls even though i agree with a lot of the thoughts on matt lees etc. Tuesdays are slow for podcasts for me. I still like Start Up but for completely different reasons. I enjoyed the twitch episode arc, probably because "hey games!" but i agree that the first season was the best (so far) and i really miss that style/behind the scenes look. never liked Mystery Show because of same reasons as Griddlelol mentioned, although I liked the premise. never cared for video games hotdog though

what did Matt Lees do now? i have been enjoying the Fizzle Show, and recommend it to any entrepreneurs out there going at it alone with their online business.
  20. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

i guess it's my turn to pick. Fancy Dags, meat (or vegetarian alternative) in a tube. Sausages and/or hot dogs. << obligatory sex joke >> Here are some ideas! http://www.foodbeast.com/news/hotdog-style/ sausage stroganoff: https://cdn1.cdnme.se/4398607/7-3/img_8042_54244a6cddf2b37dbc84fbd1.jpg currywurst: http://www.marions-kochbuch.de/dru-pic/0386.jpg etc. and "breakfast sausage" is gross, people, keep that in mind.
  21. Banner Saga 2 - Now with Dysentery!

I am pretty sure it will come to consoles in the future! Also, I heard that Stoic said the third installment will go crazy with the story. Additionally, they said the wait between 2 and 3 won't be as long as between 1 and 2!!
  22. Banner Saga 2 - Now with Dysentery!

That's what I did. Rushed through a hard playthrough of BS1 to refresh myself (but had to switch it to easy since my rushing and lack of renown meant I was not leveled enough for the final boss fight on hard) BS2 allowed me to choose which of the two playthroughs I wanted to import, and I chose my first one. Beat BS2 in about a week. It is really good. Improved the combat while still keeping the feel (which some people dont like but I love) the story progresses nicely. Added a few utility classes which was interesting, and a complete new species of creatures that you join and fight against. I found the choices to be harder to make, there were a lot more tense moments rather than the slow slog towards death in the first one. One of the new main characters is totally badass and I really liked his part of the story. The ending wasn't as good as the ending of the first one since it is a cliffhanger setting up for the third installment. I can't wait to finish it. Planning on doing a second run through when they release the cards though. Definitely recommended for anyone who liked the first one. If you missed the first one, you can jump in with the second one but I feel some of the feeling will be lost on you. The meeting with Tryggvi at the very beginning is also fun if you weren't part of the kickstarter.

  24. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

Gonna post my burger here before I start working on a packed lunch. I used sclpls's recipe but substituted BBQ sauce for Sriracha wish I used better meat but that's what happens when you go shopping on a Sunday and all the butchers are closed. That also meant I had to use massive bready burger buns. Still came out good though! Came out good, a lil spicy which was perfect.
