Finally got chance to blast through The Walking Dead season one and 400 Days over the last two weekends - Steam says I've put in about 12 hours and I'd say that was about the right length of time to spend on this journey. Some of the you-must-shoot-things-or-retry sections annoyed me the most, but then I stopped trying to get the reticule so exact and relaxed a bit (and realised a you-can't-fail setup probably wouldn't be right for these parts of the game). I'm trying to convince my girlfriend and her friend to play it as they like the TV show. I'll probably fail but if not it would be interesting to see how they take to the control scheme - maybe they'll do better because they don't have the way 'normal' shooters control burned in to their brain? But yeah, it was a faithful and really enjoyable Walking Dead experience - no easy ways out. Episode two managed to get me on edge pretty early on as something just said.. .. about the St. John family as soon as I saw them. Off to listen to Tone Control episode one again now I've actually played through the game.

I can confirm that XCOM just became one of my favourite games - generating a random abduction event in the city where I live (Leeds, UK) and letting me catch my first live alien there.

Had a reasonably terrible run today (as they've all been lately), but there's a lot of money to be had in today's random roll.

Usually I race through Trials to the credits to get everything unlocked, then comes the pain of a million retries. Zero faulting everything that isn't an extreme, getting platinums on everything that isn't extreme and then - the extremes.

Sounds good, I definitely want to play some more. I'll keep my eye out for a cheap code for Brave New World (there's one on Amazon UK that is pennies) - I actually got the base game for free from someone over on Eurogamer, super good.

It's my first since 1 or 2 (and the old Colonization) - should I get some expansions on top of the vanilla game?

I just popped Civ 5 on to finally check it out after listening to the cast, now it's 6 hours later somehow.

Picked up Philip Connors' Fire Season off the back of this announcement, it was excellent. Picked up Norman Maclean's Young Men and Fire off the back of Fire Season, I think that's going to be excellent too. Pretty excited about this video game.
