Venomancer's captain is Chris Thursten (PC Gamer) who does the Crate and Crowbar (generally PC) gaming podcast with Tom Francis (Gunpoint's creator), Graham Smith (Rock Paper Shotgun), Tom Senior (PC Gamer) and Marsh Davies (freelance artist?). I think Thumbs folk would like it!

As someone on level 2129 2134 of Desert Golfing, did Chris get round to mentioning why he deleted it?

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

I got my first ad in Instagram the other day, it has begun! Well, it was an image in my timeline from the Instagram account that explained I'd be seeing ads in the future and I could hide them as they came up (pretty much like Twitter sponsored tweets I guess). -
<3 (especially to (Metal Gear) Scanlon) (and Grayson)

Obviously don't want to spoil Desert Golfing if you have an intention of playing it, but if you have played the first 400 levels or so then this sight was probably a great moment for you as it was for me.

David Lynch's Josh Brolin's Campo Santo's Fire Watch With Me: A Motion Picture Event

Interesting problem - I wonder if you can prompt the player to let them know they don't have to answer when they first get the chance, then prompt them if they didn't answer that the game can give them more time in the future if needed, and that there's a setting if they decide they need more time in the future but not at the moment? Obviously very easy for me to propose a solution without all the fun of designing and coding it to play nice with everything else! -

So far, I totally want this game. -
Spent three hours in a helicopter doing some vaguely gut wrenching moves and puked all over my Thumbs shirt - it's still super good.

As a larger gentleman, I have to say my AA XL Thumbs' shirt is a lovely fit. I'm sat in it right now, smiling.

This is really good. It reminds me of The (animated) Ricky Gervais Show, which cuts between them sat at a table and visions of whatever rambling Karl Pilkington is in the middle of.

Enjoying my current Far Cry 2 playthrough very much - 50% complete with 24 hours played. Current weapons of choice are the Uzi, AS50 and mortar. Send in some mortar rounds, hit some explosive things and people with the AS50, and then cruise in with the Uzi and grenades. I use a bit of paper with mortar 'notch' markers on to measure how far targets are on the map for the initial pounding - I'm thinking about getting a nice bit of transparent plastic and making a totally sweet mortar calibration circle. Video games!

I think I was actually confusing Elite with Ghost Warrior, stupid sniper games. Elite is much better and definitely, at one point, had a kill Hitler mission. I think I shot him in the knee.

Not a great game from what I remember - but I can confirm this works for the price of nothing, which you can't really complain about.

You could create a List, Add parts of the string to the List, then use ToArray on the List(?). -
I thought I'd gone mad and imagined this article about Ubisoft's overarching editorial team, but obviously not as I found it eventually, which goes a long way to explaining why Ubiquitous Software's current games are like they are - open world, open world, open world.

I think 1000(!) people wanted one of the 250 that were made, so they picked a quarter at random. -

Well, this is pretty great.. http://www.camposanto.com/quarterlyreview/volume-1/issue-2/index.html -
Recursion does seem to be a strong intention of Supergiant.. you either start it or you quit the game. The presentation of the thing was great, as expected, but I don't feel I either got very good at the combat or really understood what was going on.

Idle Thumbs 158: P is for Podcast
monkehhh replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
The "about" page in You Have to Win the Game's menu is great, it explains how the creator (and his brother, the guy who made Eldritch) got in to computer and / or video games. -
The presentation is really nice and the idea is interesting, but I'm not fully taken with the gameplay yet (think I'm up to level 7). The opening levels seem good, but I'm wondering how crazy it will get (hopefully very) and how long it will last - not that the asking price is very much for something that looks so lovely.

I guess Steam doesn't do automatic conversion if a developer just puts a dollar price on a game, so they have to come up with a price in pounds - or if it does then it marks it up a bit. Humble's default price for Steam games in pounds is usually favourable as it seems to do the conversion closer to the exchange rate - which maybe automatic. Totally guessing here, obviously!
