  1. This feels like a really insincere way of dealing with the situation. They're basically saying "Oh, we looked at the rulebook, and the specific implementation of our API that they're using is actually against the terms of service!" They're not actually admitting that they didn't consider the ethical ramifications of this system or that they ignored all the shitty things going on with it, they've just found an obscure rule about "Using the OpenID API and making the same web calls as Steam users". Now that Valve has transformed from Video game developer to Libertarian nightmare factory, they apparently have given up on taking responsibility for any of their services.
  2. Quadrilateral Cowboy: Dad Baud

God damn, that's a good thread title.
  3. Destiny

If you want to do all of these, look up how to get all the Calcified Fragments. Some of them are tied to bosses that rotate weekly so you need to plan ahead to get all of them.
  4. Pokemon GO

There's a gym near where I live that's located on a boat. I tried to get to it today. From where I was standing, it was barely out of reach. The only way through that fence is to go into the museum and pay for a tour of the boat. I am really considering finally going to see that stupid boat if it means I can take that gym.
  5. Destiny

I've already finished mine! The cool part is that by doing them all, you can buy a special tshirt with your username on it.
  6. If you play Asemblance (And you should) it's worth going for other endings beyond the first one. They're not really "alternate" endings since each one requires playing a bit further in, and some of them require you having seen other endings before you can reach them. I don't think there's any major revelations to those endings since the game is very cryptic, but it's a short enough game that you should attempt to see at least three of them.

They're the members of the opposition that "shadow" the government cabinet ministers. i.e. the government (the largest party) has a Minister for Education, so the opposition (the second-largest party) has a Shadow Minister for Education.

https://twitter.com/IHarrisonSP/status/746803408657612800 A poll from the Sunday Post puts support for Scottish independence at 59%. If you exclude people who answered Don't Know, the result is 65/35 in favour of independence. There are some big caveats to this: This is only one poll, directly after the EU referendum result when people are still angry. But if these results hold up in future polls, this is a HUGE swing. Before the first independence referendum, polling never went higher than 51%.
  10. Shadowrun Returns

A new Shadowrun Returns campaign came out today! These games always seem to get passed over, and that seems like a shame because I really love them. They're solid RPGs with a great setting, well-told stories and interesting character progression. I had a fantastic time with the base campaign and Dragonfall was even better, so I'm really looking forward to getting into Hong Kong tonight. If you haven't played it before then Dragonfall is generally considered better than the original, but I enjoyed them both and they're separate stories that can be played in any order. Just be sure to avoid Shadowrun Chronicles; it's a weird repackaging of a failed attempt to make a Shadowrun MMO and it's run by a different developer than Shadowrun Returns.

The EU gives us things like employment rights and civil rights that aren't afforded to us by the current government. The EU gives us access to trade and free movement across Europe, meaning we can choose to live and work in any other EU country without having to apply for immigration status. These are good things. The leave campaign promised that we'd save money by not being in the EU (technically true, if you ignore all the money they give us back), and that life would be infinitely better once we stopped all the immigrants coming over (absolutely bullshit). They got very little traction with the first point, but the second was championed by alot of shitty racist people as the solution to all our problems. I'm in a strange position with this outcome. I voted for remain and I think that leaving is going to be horrible. But this has brought Scottish Independence back to the table and I fully support that. We've been telling everyone the UK is a shitty union for years! I'm glad it's finally clear to people that a country with 5 million people gets no say against a country of 50 million. This whole situation is a goddamn mess but if we can become independent from the UK then at least something good can come from it.

Looks like it's time to bring back this thread!
  13. I lived with someone who got a loot crate every month. Our flat filled up with useless junk and he couldn't pay bills on time because all his money went towards a monthly subscription of inflatable superhero merchandise and retro video game tshirts. I'm with SgtWhistlebotom; a box of expensive crap showing up at your house every month sounds like a horrible nightmare.

"Prey Too" should be the name of this game.
  16. TITANFLAPS 2

There's a singleplayer trailer up for Titanfall 2 now. Looks like your mech is a talking robot buddy?

  19. Destiny

https://www.destinythegame.com/uk/en/rise-of-iron New zone, raid, gear etc. Enemies are Fallen splicers. $30, don't know yet what the UK price will be but I assume £30. And not only is it not on PC, it's also not on 360 or PS3! They mentioned some sort of upgrade path, I assume that means they'll sell a console bundle with the game. It also sounds like there won't be a physical version this time.

  21. Destiny

New expansion is getting announced tomorrow! And since this is the season of E3 leaks, an Xbox store page went up early http://store.xbox.com/en-SG/Xbox-One/DLC/Destiny-Rise-of-Iron/cd6303f6-a44c-402d-be0d-e5adfa0ccde2#gameDetailsSection
  22. I might just be a grumpy online gamer, but I get really annoyed when I join a game and someone says "HEY LETS ALL PLAY THE SAME HERO" because I know that 90% of people who suggest that aren't good enough to actually play that character well and just think five Hanzos would be really funny.
  23. World of Blanks is released! https://vasari.itch.io/world-of-blanks World of Blanks is a 2D sidescrolling shooter where bullets are incapable of killing people. Shooting people makes them bounce around the room, so to progress through the level you need to physics enemies out of your way so that they don't knock you out of a window or something. Currently, the player can move and shoot, the enemies will shoot back, and everyone bounces around appropriately. I'm starting to look at AI pathfinding right now. It's a complicated job that I could get stuck into for days, but I'd rather not take too long on it and get some other features implemented. I'm planning on adding multiple weapon types which push enemies in different ways, multiple enemy types which push you in different ways, and possibly a multiplayer mode where you push each other. Forums user Knight is creating the audio, but we have no artist! If you want to create art for this project please let me know here or in Slack! I have no artistic ability and without help the game will always be made of coloured blocks.
