  1. Shadowrun Returns

So far I've just been accepting every mission as soon as its available. I'm hoping they don't disappear if I take too long to get to them.
  2. Destiny

Bounties are the easiest way to get rep, other than just playing a ton of it. The bounties on some days are better than others, but three days of handing in bounties should be enough to get you up a full level.
  3. Life

Ugh, I know the feeling, I'm looking for one myself. It doesn't help that university terms are about to start so there are students everywhere snapping up all the cheap central flats.
  4. Shadowrun Returns

I've only been in the Matrix once so far in Hong Kong, and I'm not sure how to feel about it yet. I appreciate giving it more depth but the weird stealth stuff doesn't seem like the right direction. Personally I didn't have a problem with how it worked before, I had fun with missions where I was jacked in trying to reach an objective and the rest of my team was fighting on the outside. It's such a hard thing to design for since it's so binary, no other class can fill that role but that's the only thing that deckers do. Either they implement decking into every encounter and make non-deckers feel like they're missing out, or they make it optional and make deckers feel useless. I don't know how they'd solve that. e: I will say though, that I love all the companions as much as Is0bel. I can't decide who my favourite is.
  5. Shadowrun Returns

The one thing that annoys me about these campaigns is that ever since Dead Man's Switch, they've given you a Decker as one of the main characters, and I always play a Decker. I can't see any reason to have two on a run, so it means I always have to leave behind a character. I didn't mind not taking the guy in Dragonfall, but Is0bel is an awesome character and it sucks that I don't have her with me on missions.

I don't think rocket launchers in PvP even use level advantage, I think they all just blow you up. In any case it's not a great choice for PvP, there are better rocket launchers and better exotics.
  8. Destiny

Yeah, I'm as confused as ever about how weapons are going to work in TK. I can't say I'm going to miss Gjallarhorn though; its only purpose has been to skip bossfights and buy your way into shitty LFG parties. I mean even in terms of exotics it was pretty crap, the only thing that made it special was that it was a rocket launcher that did more damage than other rocket launchers. That's not a very imaginative perk compared to the other exotics. A game like this only suffers when people hang onto one specific weapon over all others.
  9. Now that I've finally seen what happens in MGS4 and have a vague understanding of the Peace Walker stuff (which I didn't watch all the way through), I'm actually really excited by all the MGS5 trailers. I think I get it now!
  10. I don't think there exists a better 3-second summary of the Jeff Gerstmann/Kane and Lynch thing. I've really enjoyed watching Metal Gear Scanlon, but does anyone else think MGS4 was kind of crap? The story was goddamn nonsense (I'm as confused as Dan and Drew as to what the hell Naomi was doing) and the gameplay was a big mess of systems that were mostly bypassed because it was so easy to play through as a shooter.
  11. Since weird Sonic games were discussed this week I think it's a good time to remind everybody of the Hedgehog Game. To play the Hedgehog Game, just put your first name into google images followed by "the hedgehog" and see what comes up! For example, here's Nick the Hedgehog! And here's Danielle! And Jake! And Chris! After 20 years of fan characters this works with absolutely any name.

We make fun of them for losing their balance, but they're always learning. Always improving.
  15. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I've only ever heard someone complain about "SJWs" out loud in that video where Jeff Gerstmann talks to a GGer. It's a really bizarre thing to hear out loud, especially because the concept of "social justice" is one that's been coming up in Scottish politics. Our First Minister used the term alot before the election in reference to things like poverty, welfare and social services. Every time I heard it I thought "Great, I'm going to have to have a conversation with someone whose only understanding of 'social justice' comes from reddit." For the life of me I can't remember where, but I heard a really pertinent point about how these demeaning names always seem to be coined by one side. Gamergater's aren't called anything stupid like "Woman Hater Paladins", they're called by the name they gave themselves. But part of the way GG operates is making up these classifications for people they disagree with. It's a quick and clumsy way to shove people into categories, and it makes talking to someone who thinks using those categories really frustrating because they're not thinking about individual circumstance, they're comparing everything to their checklist.

Anita Sarkeesian is at the centre of the galaxy in No Man's Sky. Those who reach her are invited to join the Feminist Cabal.

I'm in a real shitty mood tonight. I was supposed to hear back about my job interview this week, but it looks like I won't hear back until Monday at least. Maybe I'm just overthinking it but I don't think I've got the job. And since my lease runs out this month and I'm unemployed, I'm going to have to move back in with my mum, and there are so many reasons I don't want to do that. For one thing I'm 25 and I can't stand living with other people. Now I'm going to have to move back to the countryside where there's nothing to do and I have no friends, and no local job opportunities. And I'm moving away from a girl I just met that for once I had a real connection with. But most of all I just feel like a fucking failure because after all this time I apparently can't exist on my own and I don't know how I'm going to crawl out of this hole.
  18. Destiny

Did someone say... Vault of Glass? By the way Xur is selling Bones of Eao this week and if you're a Hunter you should definitely get them. They're very situational, but when you use them right you can do some really cool stuff.
  19. Destiny

Nothing matters! This is a video game, get the loot if you want to get it, just do what you enjoy doing. It's all going to be meaningless after a major game update, and it's all meaningless anyway because they're fake video game guns, and when you stop playing the game then none of it will have any effect on your life. Just have fun! e: To be clear, I'm talking about the discussion that comes up when an expansion in any online game is looming. "Is it worth it to play if everything is going to be worthless in the next update?" I think the answer is yes, if you enjoy playing already then you should keep playing. If you don't have any need for progression, then just play what you enjoy playing and ignore the rest. I think that's true whether or not there's an expansion on the horizon.
  20. Destiny

Exotics will still carry over, and legendaries will still work in regular Crucible. As for everything else, all that you really "need" to do is the stuff you haven't already done. If you want to beat Skolas, hard mode raids or Trials of Osiris, those are what you should go after.
  21. Destiny

I would imagine that any "meta" stuff like levels and equipment are available to you, but gameplay content like story missions and strikes are locked out. That's how it works in HoW at least; You can go to the Reef and buy gear without the DLC, but you can't do Prison of Elders or Trials of Osiris.
  22. Destiny

There's apparently a ton of info in the digital edition of the magazine, but I'm just going by the summaries people are posting online. It all sounds really, really cool.
  23. Favorite Level in a video game

That was definitely a fun fight. Especially because I was a Hunter and it was my only chance to really tank something, or be useful in any way other than just blasting stuff. If we're talking about WoW though, I want to bring up Ulduar. Hands down it's one of the best raids they've ever done. It was the biggest raid in the game at that point (and maybe even still the biggest). The boss mechanics were all really fun and unique, it was full of optional bosses, and the hard mode versions of each fight were actually part of the world instead of just being a toggle in the UI. It was the kind of scale and depth that all the raids should've had. Trials of the Crusader was a huge letdown after Ulduar.

Oh wow, congrats! Sounds like you're on a tight schedule, hope it all goes well!
