  1. Destiny

I had a very similar experience. If you want to make it into a gif, use http://www.imgur.com/vidgif . If it doesn't accept the youtube URL, put a bunch of spaces on the end and it'll eventually work.
  2. Destiny

Man, doing the raid blind is really fun! Today we've made it through the Glyph and the Warpriest, figuring out the strategy as we go. Golgoroth is really kicking our arses though. I think we've figured out the mechanics well enough but we don't have a strategy around them that works.
  3. Half-Life 3

Valve just posted a file called hl3.txt onto the Dota 2 git repository. Here's a link and Here's a pastebin copy. I'm normally the last person to pay any attention to Half Life 3 theories but this text file makes alot of references to friendly NPCs, citizens, dialogue and linear levels. Of course this could just be an old file from Half-Life 2 that slipped into the new revision of the source engine. But if it isn't? Holy crap!
  4. Destiny

If you want to get really referential, Crota Today.
  5. New people: Read this, say hi.

I'd really feel alot better if Chris would say "I am not a robot."
  6. Danieelllleeeee I'm definitely going to miss her on IT, but it'll be great to get a new podcast! I'm also secretly happy she's moving to NY because it means I don't have to stay up so late to watch her stream games.
  7. Consider Phlebas

The Bridge is absolutely brilliant. That was the book he wrote right before he started publishing SF, and it shows since there are a few elements that end up in The Culture. I really do need to get back to reading his stuff; other than The Bridge I've only read The Wasp Factory and The Crow Road. Excession was my favourite Culture novel. It's a bit weird because I didn't really like any of the human characters that much, but I love everything involving Minds and that was enough that I could ignore the other parts. I tried to get through the later Culture books but I gave up halfway through The Hydrogen Sonata. The later books in the series get so long, and comparatively little actually happens in them.
  8. PL4YST4TION 4

PS4 has communities and groups now! I'm not sure how they work, but one of these would be a good way to find other Thumbs without filling up your friends list.
  9. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I mean he showed up in that Anita Sarkeesian documentary, I recall alot of people thinking that his opinions on the whole thing would somehow carry more weight.
  10. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

So is this now another Jack Thompson thing where a longtime Video game community punchline is now Gamergate's best friend?
  11. I think calling out a writer for making you want to read their work is like saying "those game developers just want to make money!"
  12. How cool would it be if there was a Video game about clowns and your save file was represented as an egg with your character's makeup painted on? And you loaded your game by picking the egg of the character you wanted to play?
  13. Somebody used my email address to sign up for a service that lets you send money to your loved ones in prison. They obviously don't verify email addresses when you sign up with them, and their customer support is terrible, so I'm stuck with receipts for whenever some guy sends money to people in Folsom. I've got alot of information about this guy that I really shouldn't have.
  14. Destiny

Crossroads is The Longest Yard from Quake 3. They remade The Longest Yard in Destiny.
  15. I was a little bummed out to find out that playing as a female character in MGS5 is an intentional part of the game and not a glitch or something, because my ideal version of the game would be playing as a lady doing a gravelly Keifer Sutherland impersonation. For some reason I was going to skip MGS5 until I heard all about it all over the internet. Hearing Nick's story about the helicopter music sealed it for me;
  16. Destiny

There are some important things in the recent weekly update for people to know: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=13453 Patch 2.0 is out on tuesday and it's going to change a bunch of things, mostly for the better. The one negative is that the Prowling Wolves public events are going away, so if you've missed any of these Grimoire cards then this is your last chance to get them! Also if you haven't done your Triumphs yet then the deadline has been extended to the 14th, so you get one more week to finish them. What I'm most excited about is that the new Crucible maps are going to be available one week early! All the new maps and two of the modes are going to be playable from the 8th to the 14th for everybody (even if you haven't bought the expansion), and I'm so fucking excited to play them.
  17. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

You're right about how awful the Brotherhood in New Vegas is, but that's intentional. They've always been focused on hoarding technology and keeping it from the masses, but in Fallout 1 that approach made alot of sense since every settlement was a corrupt shantytown usually run by some sort of mafia. In New Vegas they've doubled down on their isolationism and hoarding of technology because they're becoming irrelevant. There are actual governments and organised societies who are using technology to reestablish civilisation, and what's more they're able to match the Brotherhood in military strength. By the time you meet them in the Mojave they've run off to their little bunker to moan about how the NCR stole their power plant. What bothers people about the FO3 Brotherhood is that all that ideology was dropped in favour of "We're super nice and we're going to help everyone". A faction of good guys with cool laser guns who always save the day makes sense in GI Joe but it feels silly in Fallout where everybody normally has self-interest at heart.
  18. ...What day was it yesterday? I haven't heard the resolution to that robot caller story that was hinted at this week. My mind is racing with theories!
  19. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I realised today that my two favourite games so far this year are Life is Strange and Until Dawn, which are both story-driven games with branching narratives and thirsty teens. I've been trying to think of other games that fit that description and I haven't come up with anything so far. Am I missing any obvious ones?
  20. Life

I started work today! For the first time ever I'm being paid a full-time wage, and I get to identify bugs that I don't have to then personally fix. So all in all I'm satisfied!
  21. Destiny

For that round I used stealth to wait for him, then blasted him with a shotgun. It's even easier with two hunters on him. You can also use a Titan with Saint-14 to blind him with a bubble as he reaches the checkpoint. Did my third Skolas run tonight, the hardest time I've had with it. I was going through with two friends who needed the triumph so I was happy to help, even if it took over three hours. We ended up doing the right side strategy, with two people behind the barricades and me on the bottom hiding by the sword captain doors. I think that's how I'd do it next time, it seems simpler than rotating between different points. Funny story, after two and a half hours taking down Skolas, we finally get back to the airlock and my friend goes "It'd have been easier if I had maxed weapons!" I inspect her, she's got 331s.
  22. Destiny

What do you even do with the Gjallarhorn? I've never used it on Skolas and I didn't have a problem with him. How long does it take you using it?
  23. The UBERMOSH quick look is brilliant. I love how exasperated Vinny gets over new slang. Also I ended up buying that game and it's really fun. At that price it's definitely worth checking out.
  24. The entirety of Spitting Image is on Youtube, if you care to relive mid-80's British political satire.
  25. Destiny

Bungie put out a wee trailer for the twitch stream tomorrow, mostly it's notable because we finally get to hear Nolan North!
