  1. Just a heads up, we're about to get hit by an apparently pretty severe storm over the weekend. I'm hopeful that I'll be fine, but that may impact my ability to play on Sunday.

  2. Whoops. Didn't see that. OK, J.C., time to drop your Saturday plans.

I'd love to, but not likely. If things fall through I can probably sign on, but I wouldn't count on it.

  3. Saturdays are usually no good for me. If Sundays are workable for people that's when I'm most likely to be able to play. If not I'll catch raid action whenever else people are running them.

  4. Bought The Collection on Sunday after some talking into it by some friends. Hadn't played since vanilla Destiny, and damn it's much better now. Not 40 yet, but maybe in a week or two I'll be able to play with some of you!

  5. I would be super down with playing. Not sure how regularly I could commit to a campaign or anything, but shorter run stuff would be great.

I don't have the most experience, only really having played D&D 4e in a poorly run game that constantly got derailed by the group's LARP drama/talk.

  6. I keep meaning to listen to Next Picture Show, as I loved the Dissolve Podcast, but now it seems to be very movie specific and I'd rather listen to episodes about ones I've seen.

  7. Software: GameMaker!

Diversifier: Crowd-Sourced, maybe also Shallow Copy if I can get ideas for how to make it work

Genre: Scrolling shooter (Think 1942, or Gradius; haven't decided if I'll do top or side!)

This is my first time making a game, aside from tinkering with RPG Maker more than a decade ago (oh god).

    What I'm thinking so far:

    • Player character will be a swimmer or diver, or something else reliant on air. (underwater is easiest in my mind for reasons)
    • You will have a breath bar that will be depleting as time goes by.
    • Collect air bubbles to replenish air. Maybe not have too many, or have them appear from certain enemies (think Space Invaders UFOs)

Undecided so far on what enemies would be, but that's where the fun is!

    I'm open to suggestions!

  8. The jam diversifiers list is now on the front page!

The diversifiers are an optional challenge for the jam. Choose as many (or as few) as you like and incorporate them into your game.

Uniquely Systemic - Procedurally generate something in your game that’s not commonly procedural. A character’s personality, the game’s secret language, a control scheme, the procedurally generated sky's the limit.

Crowd-sourced - Make a game using input from other people. Let the community decide on creative decisions, or take on lots of mini-contributions which will be used in the game (e.g. sound recordings or photos).

Shallow Copy - Choose a genre/style to be inspired by, but specifically don’t use certain mechanics or other elements common to it.

Designer Notes - Include a director’s commentary in your game.

Tone Control - The audio in your game is reactive and directly manipulated by the player’s inputs and actions.

Uncle Who Works at Nintendo - Your game has a bizarre cheat code or secret that no-one will believe is real, but it definitely is; my uncle who works at Nintendo told me about it.

Ombudsman - During the jam, produce and distribute a newsletter tangentially related to your game.

Focused Palette - Make a game using as few colours as possible.

Dead to Language - Incorporate words or language as a core mechanic in your game.

Oh heck yes. I'm having a hard time with some ideas so I'll definitely use some of these!

  9. My fiancée and I just wrapped that over the weekend. It was pretty bad. I Want To Believe was really bad (what's going on with Mulder's hair in it?!). It barely even felt like X Files, aside from the agents being in it.

I don't remember what it was about, but I was very surprised that the second last episode was what it was.

It was the Brady Bunch house one! It was silly in the best ways, but a weird one to have before the series finale.

  10. The thing is, you're only ever blindsided by a Mimic once. Every time after that, it's part of the range of experience for which you steel yourself when opening a chest.

    Or, look for their tells!

Mimics can be seen breathing, and their chain points forward, whereas normal chests' curl back

  11. Hatoful boyfriend is one of 2 games that made me cry. plz everyone play it, and play all the paths you can, and don't be afraid to look up the ones that you don't know how to unlock on your own, because the best stuff only unlocks after you do that.

It's also currently on sale on PS4.
