Yup retweeted that one a few times yesterday. It's pretty close to perfect.

The thumbs got me to watch Twin Peaks so I figured this was appropriate.

Dude clearly had it coming. He CHOSE to associate with those puppies and he knew what that meant. Puppygate. It's actually about puppy journalism.

I made the really poor decision of speaking up in the comments of a KotakuInAction thread. I'm going to document some of the stranger things I've heard back. - Apparently the writer who gave Bayonetta 2 a 7.5 is a subscriber of SuicideGirls and is, therefore, not allowed to notice objectification in media. - If LGBT people also find a woman attractive then she isn't appealing to the "male gaze". - This isn't about Zoe Quinn, it's about who she decided to have sex with - There's no proof that any of the abuse has come from GGers. more to come as it streams into my inbox.

Damn it, but computers have become really complicated

I was on the team that helped design that unified inbox thing. You're welcome I guess. I'm glad somebody likes it. -
There are lots of great shows that don't exclusively sexualize high school girls. I'm sure you knew that though
-
That's a shame, I hadn't heard of any attempts at moving to a different tag. I'm convinced that the bulk of GGers don't believe that the issue has anything to do with gender or hate but they've been lead to villify innocent people by those that do.
-
There have been repeated calls for moderate gamergate folks to adopt a new tag to discuss journalistic ethics and they've fallen on deaf ears. Maybe the best thing to do would be to start it ourselves. Personally I don't really believe the ethical problems are bad enough to warrant it but I'm sure there are people who are worried about ethics who don't want to associate with GG that could start this. The new tag could start from a position of wanting to disassociate, condemning shitty behaviour, and approaching topics of ethics evenhandedly. This could give the moderates somewhere to jump to and actively oppose the extremists.

Nichijou is just the Japenese term for "daily life". Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou means "Daily Lives of High School Boys". I was very confused the first time somebody asked me if I'd seen Nichijou and we ended up talking about two entirely different shows. Personally I prefer the High School Boys show, especially the Literary Girl segments.

I was thinking this the other day when I was reading some post or another thanking female developers for their bravery and encouraging more to become role models. I mean I'm sure it was well intentioned but all I could think was "Not every woman has to be a role model, some of them just want to do their part and not butt heads, it's unfair to ask somebody to be a symbol if they aren't comfortable with it." I'm probably overthinking things but yeah, it seems like female ANYTHING in this industry aren't just allowed to be that thing, they also have to be a spokesperson for their gender. Probably another barrier to entry honestly.

The fake Leigh tweet would be laughable if I didn't know so many people would believe it.
-
Any chance you have a link to that tumblr? I'm curious what they think harassment means.
-
This is one of the most laughable things I've seen, especially since it seems to be inexorably linked with that disgusting Mark Cernovich character.
-
I understand that, what I'm wondering is have there been any publicized occurrences of GamerGate participants being attacked through the same techniques that have become associated with their own methods. IE doxxing, death threats, campaigns of abuse, etc. I'm not aware of any and I'm pretty doubtful of their existence, but I want to be able to say with confidence one way or the other.
-
So there's something that's really been bothering me a lot in the last few days. A bunch of apparently "neutral" parties have been saying "Well both sides have been extreme so lets just find a middle ground." I have literally seen nothing objectionable from anti-GG parties. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, just that I haven't seen it. I'm curious if any of you have seen anything that might qualify. Obviously it must not be very common so comparing the two is ridiculous, but do they have anything they can point to apart from the imagined issues with journalistic integrity?

Ugh, there was an outcast mission hidden underneath another icon. Finished now.
-
I've been running around saving unmarked slaves for quite a while and I haven't seen a new marked mission that whole time.
-
Has anyone had a problem with the outcast missions? My completion screen says I'm at 15/24 but I can't find any more. Other than that I've got 100% so it's kind of annoying.

Twin Peaks Rewatch 2: Traces to Nowhere
Cyborg771 replied to Jake's topic in Twin Peaks Rewatch Episodes
Chris and Jake, have you guys considered doing 2 episodes a week? I want to keep up with your pace but this seems like the kind of show that would benefit from, if not a straight up binge watch, at least an accelerated schedule. Just curious. -
Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)

I'm pretty sure the Mii transfer thing worked. I remember my girlfriend at the time bringing her Mii over to my machine. -
It's on page 197, the Emma Watson video.
-
I think it's that they don't think specific examples are harmful, which isn't necessarily what she's saying.
-
That was my response. I'm having a bit of a back and forth with here and her friends right now. They have the very valid point that a man who fights for women's rights because of the very few problems the patriarchy causes men is a shitty ally and I can't disagree with that. I rebutted by saying that as long as the end result is a greater understanding then the initial reason for looking into it isn't the most important.

A friend on Facebook was disappointed that Watson's argument essentially boiled down to "misogyny hurts men too" thing, which while true isn't really the core injustice of the whole thing. The fact that women are raped and beaten on a global scale isn't enough to call men to action, but the fact that it might in some way inconvenience them is? I think it's a valid point. I really should watch the whole video through myself once I have the time though.
