  1. Idle Food - Cooking!

I love my cast iron skillet, we got a set of pans when got married but still prefer the cast when possible. Just gets hotter faster and more evenly. I also like the idea of the same pan for 100 years (did I mention it's got a giant ! On the back, woot.com branding), can't wait to explain that to grandkids
  2. Idle Food - Cooking!

Home made pasta sauce tonight, I should have taken an after photo. It was head of garlic, shallots, 3lbs of tomatoes and spices. Combined with spicy sausage and pasta It was pretty spicy in the end and bowl cleaning good

whew, im glad we arent the only ones. My wife and i have a paris trip on the docket for spring 2015, so i have no suggestions now, but perhaps can necro this topic in a year there is a shared google doc we are filling in with places to see/eat/whatever with ranking codes. eventually it'll get filtered by districts and ranking...then plugged into a loose itinerary to work from with accompanying custom google map
  4. Sports

3 games ahead is a good place to be. Chicago is hanging tight 4-4.5 gb from detroit, not too bad for end of may, but their offense is abysmal some days side note, one of the best playoff hockey games of the year just ended, going to #6
  5. Thumb Fortress 2

I've never MvM but have tf still holding space, if I'm on and need a filler please drop an invite - steam id: undermind9
  6. Transistor

Oh ya I had to use turn a bit differently, but I eventually put the guy down. Was just curious if everyone else had the same issue. I also don't get how it ties into the story just yet... But perhaps I'll finish it this week and join the story spoiler discussion
  7. DOTA 2

It's a major pain in the ass as a melee, but ranged should be able to pick him apart, counter helix pops a lot but still needs to take creep hits. *of course it's sometimes easier said than done. I've had to sac towers early and make a stand at the second tier from early game. Best can hope is to get the t1 deny and screw up their equilibrium the rest of the game While on topic I saw some one the other day with 2 stout shields, I thought that had been patched out. Used to be standard Hon build
  8. Recently completed video games

I played it on pc with a controller a made the qte events much simpler. I tried it again later on a keyboard and we ragey too
  9. DOTA 2

Had a wombo combo team the other night; centaur, tide, disruptor, puck. I was ck for pushing and clean up. 4 blinks and the damage to the group was incredible. Was a great time (for us)
  10. Transistor

Regarding lmb and rmb movement - Day 1 wasd didn't move red, then after the day 1 or 2 update seems to be default on. That helped me feel less Diablo about the action. I also discovered by holding TAB a spot light isolates on red and she does some humming, I hope that this evolves into a different action with progression. Additionally regarding a boss fight -

Ya, certainly half assing something isn't conducsive to proper home ownership. This situation wasn't a crap job, our professional installers couldn't determine a proper course of action and poor communication by the field techs and their management put my wife over the edge. I liked renting, but when you're done with a place and all have to show is a missing security deposit it really ruins morale

i started with a fan on the bare concrete, it helped...but rain all week i think raised the humidity of the air...and perhaps its just a weird water table issue right there...so im bound to be anxious until i just rip up the room and re-ceramic it myself at least it'll be consistently making me nervous, but i do feel like an edgar allen poe character staring at these "wood" planks and getting on my knees to check if they are swelling or uneven. if i hear beating i'll report back

Toilet adjacent anxiety <2wks ago I had my first level floors ripped up and replaced with all hardwood laminate (the click-lock stuff). anyways looks great except in the bathroom next to the sewer pipe was an abundance of moisture, whereas the relative humidity of the floor measured ~x2.5-3 more than the rest of the slab. After several difficult conversations with the installers, their managers, and my wife it was decided to override the manufacturers warranty and install anyways. The alternative is to wait for the humidity to go down or call a plumber, neither of which have any guarantees of repair or timeframe Long story short - installed, voided the warranty for that room because it was higher than mfg's tolerances, but its installed and my wife and i are talking again =D But now im paranoid that the floor is already starting to buckle and swell from water. I am imagining humidity seeping through the face of the floor when i see moisture footprints. If this toilet ever clogs and overflows i'll certainly go into full panic
  14. Show me your desk/gaming space

i work in signs, so its less back and forth than some other trades. but certainly understand the advantage. also im distracted by shineys...like forum updates, slick deals, woot offs, etc.
  15. Show me your desk/gaming space

ugh, looks like a wire cluster fck with the big chair out of the way. he end goal is to build a desk in here to wrap 2 walls & become a hobby & computer room. but then id have to develop another solitary hobby outside of computers side note - i seem to be in the minority, i love my dual monitors at home but don't like it at work. instead i keep a relatively small single screen, i spend most of my day in drawing programs with mostly white backgrounds and i find it to be distracting with two & very large

I'm 11yrs Taco Bell free this summer. i can still taste it when i reflect. every day is recovering.
  17. Transistor

after the first boss. as you work through the levels there will be back doors into an aside zone where you can do trials, practice, or just let the playlist (tracks unlocked by completing trials) on the comment of real time use the dash is invaluable at collecting the little EVE guys that want to respawn (cells? look like a wallE character). as more functions are available you can add perks to the dash so it does damage, less Turn time, etc. I'm rounding 2.5hrs and the intricacies of power ups & spell combos is getting really exciting. I also like the limiters (essentially shrines from bastion), adds some interest to the engagements...but so far the XP bonus has been marginal
  18. Transistor

i didnt like it last night, but today i got a few more moves & am enjoying much more. also the "practice" zone cleared up some of the question marks for some of the functions in my mind also i accidentally figured out that in "turn" you can rt-click drag to "aim" / get a line on the action's vector & range...this really helped me aim some of the penetrating shots & less likely to get swarmed by groups
  19. Sports

I've got a shared MLB account that is great when the wife doesn't want to endure another baseball game. It would be invaluable if I was out of market On the hockey front pretty exciting how the series have panned out. Should be a very exciting Stanley Cup regardless if Chicago makes it in. Lots of speed on all 4 teams left
  20. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

Anecdotally I love couch multi player on pc, the rare occasion people come over I strongly encourage them to try nidhogg, risk of rain, and whatever else is in my steam library for 2 people. But on topic I think ouya was and is asinine, there is one in a locked case at my target that looks like it's never moved (not even to fish out the wii-u's behind it)

finally went back and 100% achiveo'd Bastion this score attack for "hard bargin" was my 5th playthrough i think, the whole thing is still great. pike & mortar all day i think im going to hit the "order" button now for Transistor.

Free cell is my at work past time. Some stupid amount of games played, unfortunately only a 60% win rate when I would close/forfeit when people walk by... Now just minimize It helps me clear my head during strange or difficult problems to solve. and a single game can be clicked through in under 3 minutes.
