I also just got my 5th edition starter book in, i opted for the easier book first since the group interested has never played a pen and paper rpg and a $12 investment with starter tools seems safer if after the first night there is a mutiny.

Finished Fez to 64 cubes, i'vent anything new to add to the discussion really. It is a super game, I have no idea why I didn't play it sooner, and the first time rotating a room is a really great feelings Going through it was really rather astonishing the amount of polish and forethought that went into some of the puzzle work. I can now throw out all these scraps of notebook paper, ambitiously I wasnt going to look anything up One thing i was thinking about a lot going through this - Are kids talking about this game (or ones like it) at recess? This game seems like it would be perfect for schoolyard discussions. "Know the telescope room - Guess what!" Or, more likely, are they just jumping into "Let's Plays" or a game's wiki to get past difficult or annoying sequences? When i was in elementary school it was common to talk about weird tricks or secrets (like which bushes had 100 rupees in zelda) or who had finally beat XYZ game. As kids got older it was harder to find those people to talk about (puberty does that), but i remember writing out a build order for a reaver rush w/dropships in SC and trading with someone else for their seemingly killer zerg strategy as late as grade 8.

Wake Me Up Before You IndieGoGo: A Crowdfunding Thread
undermind9 replied to tegan's topic in Idle Banter
i cant tell if the scale here is even that much smaller. there was a point in the video where the XL Robot did a "laser slice" of seemingly a floating city block. Then the plate started to separate, could just treat that as one "platform" of the overall "world" as you put it i hope this gets funded for a neat concept, but i will not be contributing just yet -

uber is at it again. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/659943965/human-resources-an-apocalyptic-rts-game The video and concept looks great (much like PA). But seemingly the community consensus is that they didnt fully finish the first product and 1.4mil is a lot of dollars for another RTS that could come out partially finished again This game would be great with a half-dozen or so old-gods/apocalypse factions and 1.4 for the initial two...and not a planned third till tier-4 stretch goal. -
...does that projectile come out it's "nose" too?

Playing Through Mario 64 1st Time, Difficult or Just Me?
undermind9 replied to skadann's topic in Video Gaming
can i ask what platforms all playing on? i know its been released a couple different ways in the eshops i would probably find the camera infuriating w/o the C-Button configuration and Z-Button trigger of the n64 controller -
i can see the advantage of diddy, although i also prefer dixie ive only been played through island 1 & 2 but diddy's float is much more consistent and predictable (like princess in smb2, etc) whereas dixie has a drop then rise which can be tricky when jumping between hazards i generally find cranky to be annoying with the pogo bounce, but i dont think ive been in a rough enough situation yet to require it

this was last years' pumpkin attempt. it was done all with a dremmel tool and scraping the inside thinner in some spots to get better light through. i regret knocking it out on the right, made it rather unstable especially after the cats got curious. (anyone unfamiliar, its Omniknight from Dota2)

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
undermind9 replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
i was playing with my wife...i was drudging through she was enjoying the story some and then glitched through the stairs in one of those XL sequences/cases and had to restart at the very beginning of the case. i turned it off, quietly explained to her that it was awful and no fun for me anymore. i havent turn it on since and no intention to -
i bit on DK:TF online store sale and played the first island last night. the controls took a few tries to get going, i had in mind the SNES DKC roll->into run and roll/cartwheel off a ledge to get a slightly dropped long jump. Except in here there is a run button and separated roll button, anyways i ended up running directly into some baddies so far it feels great, looks great, and really excited to play through. The collectibles & effort to 100% each level seems daunting, i think i'm going to finish game first before coming back to find them all. Regarding Hyrule Warriors - they updated the wii-u kiosk at target this last week so i'm excited to try that as well. I only use the demo machine when kids aren't near by. I feel somehow they get first dibs on the controller because their parents dragged them to the store against their will, whereas I am actually shopping for groceries, clothing, etc.

I played it at one of those demo kiosks and thought was great and returns to donkey Kong country of SNES. Apparently can be controlled with wiimote, nunchuck and pro (which I've yet to get).

Additionally DK Tropical Freeze and pikmin 3 are on sale this week on eshop. I'm tempted by the DK since I don't imagine even black Friday going much cheaper

Anyone have experience with external hard drives on wii-u? Nintendo says powered disk hard drives and doesn't recommend USB flash or even ssd due to read/write limitations Across the internet people swear their flash drives work fine. Just looking for thumb experience on the matter

washing machines are usually pretty easy if the plumbing is already in place. Usually the pipes are already roughed in and the washing machine just needs to connect with a flexible PVC to the hot & cold (dont mix them up...), then power is simple as plug in ive got to change my lock/latch assembly on front loading washing machine sometime this next week. i think it'll be pretty easy except taking the rubber liner off the front. Seeing that it is the only thing holding gallons of water from leaking i have some uneasiness about putting it back in place

wallet keys right pocket phone & leatherman left pocket these new fangled screens never scratch with the metal tool in the same pocket & i get a nice "worn" look to the edges of the bezels. i drive my phones till they no longer function so im not worried about sell-value with some scratches I'll put a notepad or something flexible & temporary in the back pocket only in rare instances. the idea of someone who sits on their wallet is bizarre and very uncomfortable

theres a lot of neat adds / reworks to hero skills, aghanim's additions, CD/dmg rebalances etc but most important are clearly the terrain chainges. The Rosh pit being balanced to not favor the dire as much is fine - but will greatly affect ward placement and river jumping blink setups, also selling items in the pit to SS Additionally the juke/gank access lane from radiant top -> secret shop is crazy. And the criss-cross cut throughs they are adding to the bottom radiant trees is pretty great. Certainly trying to mirror a little better the dire side (dis)advantage with those gank spots i suspect that riki is going to make a major jump in popularity, sniper will drop out entirely w/o mini-stun, and in general push-strats will start to fall off w/the multi-glyph change. This could be the patch of Tree & Chen!

The ALL NEW Monday Night Multi-Thumbs RANDOMIZER
undermind9 replied to Lu 's topic in Multiplayer Networking
holy smokes! Dare I take a half day to join in... This is one of my top multiplayer games...then it just died. Reliable developer servers went down and the P2P lag fest began. there have been some unsuccessful attempts to reboot using steam-groups, at most 5 people show up to play *To any NA players i would be happy to join up Monday evening and continue the Multi-Thumbs train in the western-hemisphere
