THAT'S A DAY AFTER MY BIRTHDAY. We lucky, yo. It's like Spider-Man 2 all over again.
  2. Cool stuff Chuck, thanks for sharing.
  3. Silicon Valley

I'm worried that Judge will somehow glorify Silicon Valley assholes. I'm sure he won't, but I still have that worry. I'll watch that pilot tomorrow, and I shall see for myself.
  4. New people: Read this, say hi.

    Goddammit. I mean...welcome, I don't know you.
  5. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

That made me want to punch my monitor. In good humor, of course.
  6. I Had A Random Thought...

How bout just reminding ya to not read the comments section.
  7. That was kinda dark, tbh.
  8. True, but the point here was to refute your assertion that oppression is fought through ignoring and just taking it in. No matter the level of oppression it is, it's best to stand up for what is right, as trite and cliche as that may sound. I'd rather speak up against someone saying bullshit rather than hear him blather over it over and over. No one wins against malice if they close their mouths and think everyone will be fine, if I ignore it, the oppressors won't say that crap anymore. That's elementary school logic there. Like, literally, not figuratively . Kids are told that by ignoring the bullies, they'd stop it. Of course, they rarely ever stop being bullies, and when they do, it's because they found another morsel to chew on. And a calling a derogatory word "a bad word" is also literal elementary school thinking. "Fuck" is a bad word". "Asshole" and "shit" are bad words. " "Slut", "whore", "bitch, or, if you wanna be really derogatory, "n***er" are words that have oppressive, demeaning definitions and history behind them, and must be used under specific and well-thought contexts. If you're making a film about racism, or sexism, or have characters that are that way specifically, it makes sense to use those words, but in order to use them in off handed ways, or to use them at the expense of a joke towards oppressed people, that's just fucking heavy handed, lazy, gross, and 100% unnecessary.
  9. These people would've liked to have a word with you on those statements. And that'd be just the tip of the iceberg!
  10. Interesting you say that! Bullock apparently argued against the producers so that she didn't have to be in underwear, but she and Cuaron had to concede to them because, well, they're the movie's producers. So perhaps it was a gross studio thing? I unno', but I doubt Cuaron and his son's intentions were to exploit their character. What's even more interesting is, despite that, they kinda didn't actually end up being male gazey and gross about it? It just happens to be a thing. I can't really remember any shot where they close in on her butt or whatever, other than circumstantial moments where the camera was focusing on the fire that was going on in that ship (spoilers?). And they even seemed to make use of her more revealing look to emphasize the theme of rebirth and fertile innocence. I mean, she enters the ship, goes into a fetal position, and a rope or something just happens to float in a way that it looks like an umbilical chord. Not at all subtle, but the intention of having the character to be titillating was lost from the moment she takes off the suit. It reminded me a lot of the scen The mainsplaining was pretty stupid and useless, probably my least favorite scene. But I'm pretty sure it's not Cuaron saying "A man's gotta explain this to tha lady!". but perhaps more in line with his somewhat naive love for magical realism. He probably expected it to be cute and hopeful, like most of his magical realist scenes happen to be like (the ending of Children of Men, most of A Little Princess, the narration in Y Tu Mama Tambien). It's still inexcusable, I agree. I don't follow you on the physics stuff though. They took a lot of liberties obviously, but I don't see that as being meant to make her seem useless or clumsy. I mean, she gets out of every situation by herself nearly unscathed, and even risks her life once on her own volition. You know what I mean. That part? Yeah that one, it was kinda silly, but holy shit that was cool. Anyway, I really don't see the problem there at all, to the point that I have no counterargument (even though I'm not arguing against your opinion, just trying to give a bit of context to things). I just don't see it. Gravity is definitely not the most progressive film out there, but I don't feel its right to demonize and categorize it as oppressive, specially when many female critics (not all of them) have come to admire the character. I dunno', that's my two cents. I agree with you 100% that art that is oppressive is bullshit and lame, obviously. It's even worse for me, as a Latino, who has to endure the many bullshit stuff that colors my culture and race as being sombrero wearing taco eaters, specially in comedy. What a load of shit.
  11. Counter-Strike Idle Terrorism.

Ya know, this suddenly reminded me of this event I used to organize and host in the previous (and first) gaming community I took part of. I may bring it back for this forum... What kind of event? Well, take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pSF9s173c8 Very stupid. We played basically played janky, yet hilarious game modes on CS:S, Garry's Mod, HL2: Deathmatch, and TF2, as well as janky and silly Source multiplayer source mods. The whole point and theme of the event was "LET'S PLAY JANKY GAMES, LAUGH, AND SHOOT THE SHIT." And boy, did we laugh and shoot the shit, for 3 entire months until I had to stop hosting it because school. Good times, though. There is a server on CS:S that has 150 community made gamemodes, where we played most of the time during this event. I haven't checked if it's still up, but if it isn't, the world has truly lost a true gem in video games. If it is, hmm...
  12. Feminism

No one has reclaimed "nigger", unless, well, you're talking about racist people, so you're heavily misinformed there. "Nigga" on the other hand is something the Black community appropriated and transformed in meaning. On the whole "slut" thing, I feel that word has too much negative history for it to be reclaimed as a positive thing. Stick with non-gendered insults, or at least justify that your character is a sexist asshole well enough that they will use it during dialogue.
  13. Good. *opens door* There's the door! Cya!
  14. Wow, you're so problematic! Thanks Obama! Also: All of the results seem to perfectly represent the actual people. "A Kind Joker" had me rolling.
  15. I wish Danielle took Nick's position when he's not on. Alternating between her and Nick would be great, or have them both on! Even better.
  16. You have to be fucking kidding me. Weren't you also complaining about the same thing about the last time Danielle was on? Give it up dude, the kind of shit you're saying doesn't bode well in this community or the people who run this site.
  17. Kim & Clint Hocking their Swiftboat down the Amazon

What in the fuck. Portal gun rolling down a hill in the Amazon game? Systemic portal solving.
  18. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Oh my god, I beat Olmec for the first time today. It was so surreal. I had begun the temple world with just two health, no shotgun, and jetpack on my back. I managed to dodge and swerve every trap in there. I was always so close to almost dying. I managed to kill both Anubis bosses WITHOUT PASTE. I had to literally plant the bomb down, grab it, and throw it, and I couldn't fucking believe I managed to do it. Killing the second Anubis was so surreal, I was swerving by gold tiki traps, and lured him into getting stabbed by a gold tiki trap. Then came fighting Olmec. Oh boy. I did what I've learned from Chris' streams and began looting the area. Then, I did something very stupid, but something that made this fucking achievement more awesome. I just started planting bombs willy-nilly, to the point that I had just two bombs left. I managed to lure Olmec to fall into the gap I made...but THERE WERE TO LOOSE BLOCKS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GAP. I was stunned, and with two bombs and two health, I was ready to accept my fate and just kill myself...but I didn't. A fucking surge of adrenaline went through my mind, and I fucking swerved down on to the loose block on the right. I planted the bomb perfectly on it and instantly zoomed off. Olmec was literally fucking INCHES away of squishing me. Just as I grabbed a hold of the rope I had left on the right of the gap, Olmec slammed down behind me, triggering the bomb and plunging him to his doom. The Aftermath: I was stunned as to what I did. I couldn't believe it. I then remembered I had grabbed the ahnk. But considering my low health, and my lone bomb, I decided to leave Hell for another run and ran to the exit. And I fucking did it. After 1636 deaths, I did it. Now that I finally (technically) finished the game, I feel I can now truly express my thoughts on the game: Simply amazing, perhaps one of the best games I've ever played and will continue playing. I can't think of any other game that has helped create such an amazing, triumphant, and suspenseful moment. A moment I shall never forget.
  19. Half-Life 3
