Chris, just accept it. This ain't no passing craze. We all know you are a sensitive soul, though you seem thick skinned. Yeah, accept the puns, that's my problem-free philosophy. I mean, after reading these puns, I've got no worries for the rest of my day! Stop hogging the fun away! -
DJ airhorn sounds kill me. I wish it would become the new rimshot. It's also the perfect punch-line for "sick burn" jokes.

Idle Thumbs 159: Wilson's Ghoulish Countenance

Jesus Christ, the fucking Noah's Ark game part was fucking destroying me. Thanks for that. Also, belated podblast nitpick: It's pronounced "kah-kah-wah-tess", Sean! Your Spanish on that episode had me go over it millions of times to understand what you were saying, and Spanish is my second language! Seriously, that was some Gringo-ass Spanish right there. And it's pronounced "dool-say", not "doll-che"! This ain't Italian, yo. But hey, you did say "miel" correctly. -
Hey so uh, I got this game. When do you guys happen to play? Also, been wondering if the Idle Thumbs server is still up. If you wanna play, just add me on Steam! I'm a newb to it, btw.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))
Stuart replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
This game ain't that bad. I hated my time in the forest, but after that, it's the best shit. Foggy forest is probably the best part so far for me, imo. The atmosphere and sound design is exceptional, got some Silent Hill flashbacks.- 1284 replies

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)
Stuart replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Idle Banter
Hey, you ever think "How can white people make their rap even more white." Wellp... -
I have not! But I heard plenty of good things. I started two weeks of free Hulu Plus when the Thumbs mentioned it and if I find it there, I'l definitely see it. I'm gunna go through the Criterion collection as well. That reminds me, Hulu Plus has the bullshit Raymond Burr version of the original Godzilla movie. And not the original classic! What a travesty, I say.

Yo! Thanks for linking that, I love Independent Lens. I'll be watching this tomorrow. Today, I watched Guillermo del Toro's first feature length film, "Cronos", and "Buena Vista Social Club", a documentary about forgotten Cuban musicians from the 40s and 50s and the album they created in 1998 that lead them to do a final concert in New York and Amsterdam in 1999. "Cronos" is classic del Toro, mixing heavy religious allusions and imagery, Mexican folklore, and other mythological ideas to create a clever and deeply personal spin on vampire stories. Beneath the horror film aesthetic and look is a simple film about an old man and his granddaughter coping with the idea of never seeing each other again. If you're looking for a subtle film, you won't find that here (the main character's name is " Jesùs Gris", literally translated to "Grey Jesus", and he basically "resurrects" from his old self to a newer self), but that's the point: much like "Pan's Labarynth" and "The Devil's Backbone", it's a dark fairytale that uses all of these religious motifs to create context and texture to an otherwise very simple story. "Buena Vista Social Club" is a fantastic movie if you want to hear good Cuban and Latin Jazz music, and hear the stories of forgotten artists and their rise to stardom in their youth. The thing that made me most happy about the film is that it's a testament to these people's absolute genius and passion. A well deserved last hurrah to these great people. This is my favorite song in the whole film and album. Also, they perfectly translated every song to English subtitles in the movie, so extra bonus there.

Finished this game! Overall impression is that I loved it, but I wish the game gave you a better sense of direction. Spent too much of my time not knowing how to progress the main path after being burned out on exploring side stuff. Those moments felt like dead air, and it ended up nearly boring me if I didn't have a couple of forum peeps and friends giving me tips on where to go next. Other than that, great game. Also, Artorias is best fight. I know the boss is bullshit, but its theme ain't.

David Lynch's Josh Brolin's Campo Santo's Fire Watch With Me: A Motion Picture Event

So, Sean posted some pics from the Yosemite trip at the Campo Santo blog! Best/worst/gross pic of them all. -
Yeah I agree, just was an excuse to write dumb bullshit. Puffins.

Gross. I'm gunna give you a solid two count so you can explain why that font isn't super good, or really crisp. Artisanal fonts are a hard thing to come by these days, but I feel your take on this certain situation is problematic. Explain yourself, or else, I'll consider dunking your ass like Obama, or refer to you as a shitty wizard. IT'S...time for you to create a bespoke reflection on your opinion. That tremendous font doesn't deserve that kind of critique. Worst.

Holy crap, this was amazing. There's one particular moment that just had me floored with how visually ambitious it was, and how it took the game's simple mechanics and elevated it by imbuing it with beauty and heartfelt meaning. Also, Kentucky Route Zero has officially become the only video game ever made that has created a character who I relate to 100% in all ways. Never in my life would I expect this kind of thing from a video game, knowing how trite or cliched they are when it comes to narrative and characters, but this game has created a character who might as well be me or someone in my family. That in and of itself is praiseworthy, not because it struck a personal chord with me, but because its characters are so human and broad that one character HAPPENED to strike a personal chord within some random Latin American kid. All in all, an absolutely amazing episode, perhaps the best and most daring one so far. PLAY IT NOW ASAP. (Hint: That character is Marquez, if you didn't figure it out.)

Am I insane in saying that Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong is really awesome? Specially the three hour extended version with the triceratops and swamp monster scene?
