  1. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

    1) from my recollection, only one boss is parry-able. 2) I believe the 33 is the bleed build-up. Every time you hit him, you add 33 bleed to your enemy. So if you hit a guy 3 times they have 99 bleed, assuming they don't have any bleed resistance. when a hit exceeds their bleed threshold, it applies a damage bonus equivalent to something (I think counter? I can't remember). I think in general the bleed threshold is a %, so you add 33% per hit, minus their bleed resistance. After the bonus attack, the enemie's bleed resistance decreases back to 0. It works the same way as poison build-up. I hope that helps, but I'm probably wrong.
  2. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

If you lose stamina, I believe you just get a traditional hit stun. I also think it has to do with poise. I can never remember what that does though. What's probably causing you damage is other stat affects that the attack has, like fire or magic. Probably. To be honest, It's been a while since I played dark souls, and might be getting confused with DaS2.
  3. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I have nothing to back this up, but I believe the reinforced club does less damage but does bleed damage as well? I don't quite remember why I chose the club over the reinforced club. I do think there's something primal and quite brutal about the club, which I enjoy a lot. Edit: Looked it up, and whilst the reinforced club does more damage, it has worse scaling of C to B, instead of A, so it's better for SL1 runs, as the scaling isn't important when you can't level up :/
  4. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

But you're missing out the fun of kicking that one hollow in New Anor Londo into the sea! Also a really great weapon for STR builds is the club. Fast and with an A for STR scaling. Also the club's really good for SL1 runs, as it's one of the few weapons that you can actually equip.

Define a few? There is one particular part at around episode 4 or 5 which is particularly enjoyable. I also liked the whole 'Humanity is totally fucked' angle. It also felt kinda fresh and new on an otherwise dull zombie-theme. Idk, each to his own I guess. I read the manga before the anime was cool, so wasn't exposed to all the hype, so I guess my view of AoT will be different from yours, as I was not expecting anything, as opposed to you expecting something, if that makes sense.

This game looks awesome! I'd be totally up for a beta (if you're still giving them out)

Guh Funimation... I have watched two new shows this season that I'm pleasantly suprised with. The first was Captain Earth which was cheezy mech shit with gallons of predictable with a side-order of foreshadowing, but still quite enjoyable. It reminded me of what I liked about Evangelion, which was the bits when people complained about how much money it costs to run these damn mechs, and the dick-head dad having to keep appealing to SEELE for more money. Sadly that wasn't in there, but I always think about it when the obligatory mech-suit comes into play, which in this show was brilliantly constructed via three giant satellites piecing the mech as the main protagonist flies through them. It also has that hilarious meme whereby the MC has never ridden the damn thing, but somehow knows exactly how to pilot it and to start the ignition. I also watched One Week Friend which was again, kinda obvious as to the plot due to the title and the synopsis, but I guess that's what to expect out of a first episode. It's about a guy trying to befriend a lass who completely forgets all her 'good' memories after exactly a week, like her friends. It was sweet and I liked the setting and characters. I hope the plot is as predictable and sweet as I'm foreshadowing it to be. Either way I'm suckered in. I just watched it too! It was alright! Although I did find it weird how different the MC's clothes were to everyone else. I thought that was kinda the point, as she was from a distant land, but then when it flashbacks to the elder and her sisters, they are also wearing the same era garb! It confused me. Nether-the-less, I enjoyed it and will probably watch the second episode.
  9. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Oh is that what it is? Yeah, I think that's what I'm talking about. My bad, I retract that statement.

There was another layer of depth in Double Dash as well, as each character had a unique special weapon, so your character choice was even more important. My favourite combo was Toadette and Baby Bowser. They are both light class, and Bowser's Giant Shell was a great way to keep the rest of the pack at bay when you're in pole position, and was a pretty frequent item at pole position too. Toadette had the golden mushroom, which was a great way to get to the front. Also heavier classes could push the lighter classes aside, another thing that has become moot thanks to what looks like the spin attack from F-Zero.

I hope crunchy. But either way Horrible Subs will JoJo is amazing. The first season is the first two arcs, but as the first two arcs all pretty much unconnected to the third, you could jump into the second season no problem. But the first season is amazing, and with the best ending song ever:

JoJo Stardust Crusaders and Haikyuu!! are two anime that i was looking forward to, and not only is it on crunchyroll for the UK, they're both pretty good. I also checked out Baby Steps and it was a bit shit, as well as Abarenbou Kishi! Which wasn't so bad. Mekaku City Actors, Ping Pong, Atelier Escha and Sidonia no Kishi are other anime that I'm looking forward to. Ping Pong is the one I'm most looking forward to. That anime will be ballin'.

I'm simultaneously excited and apprehensive of MK8. I'm loving the tracks and the hover cart, and the new weapons look super fun too, but I feel it's got too many characters now. It's saturating the characters to a point where it doesn't make any difference which ones you choose. On top of which, they are really scraping the barrel for characters too. The Koopa Jrs? Really? Metal Mario? Idk, It's just that looking at the racing, all the characters look like they are going at the same speed, and the characters are merely just an aesthetic choice. replace them with a car brand and it's just another racing game. But with powerups. I know my point is made a bit moot by the way Mario just overtakes Bowser at the finish line, but it could just be a bad choice of kart for bowser. Now I'm just over-analysing a fucking trailer. Also why the bikes? It's just another thing that isn't needed. I wish they would drop them. I have never lost a race and thought 'darn if only I was on a bike'. It's just another aesthetic that adds nothing to the game. I miss Double Dash's set-up. The cart and character combo was the best. I'll stop moaning now. Either way I've already pre-ordered this game with the stupid blue shell fig and T-shirt like the die-hard Nintendo fan-boy I am.

  16. I just killed the Song Demon! What a fucking horrible level, but the boss was great. Me and my missus both reacted with the same disgust when it opened it's mouth, but after 4 or so attempts, it was pretty easy to work out what to do and when to attack and stuff. Great fight! Now onto more horrible places! T_T

Gah! Sorry! I didn't know whether you had been to uni or not! I sounded like an ass ._. tbh, not much has changed. Just replace Akira & Ghost in the Shell with Attack on Titan and Black Butler. XD

You're not ignorant! I should have explained this better instead of just assuming everyone knows exactly what I'm thinking all the time. Which I do a lot. I was on the committee for an anime society at University. Leeds University to be specific. It was fun. I was the Web Monkey for 2 years and then went on to be the Secretary for my last one. I'd strongly recommend to search for any anime societies in your area/university. But maybe Leeds' Anime Society was particularly excellent. Which I hear it is compared to Cambridge's. I feel this statement is true for any medium, not just anime specific. I feel that when you get into anime, you certainly feel all these things on pretty much any anime show you start watching. I think this is because for a western person watching anime for the first time, the whole vocabulary and memes and styles that are used in anime are so different from western cartoons, that it feels like all these things, but so much more exaggerated than normal. As you start internalizing this stuff though, you see that it's no different from the next anime that's based in an MMO world. Yeah. I see your point. Although I do think K-On! Is quite funny though. That's why I liked the show. I don't mind a show being pointless if it at least makes me laugh. I feel anime is still a growing medium, and the moe blob/ero stuff is a necessary evil. Also, 2 other good harem animes are Boku wa Tomadatchi ga Sukunai and The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat. I know the second one sounds awful, but it's actually really superb and sweet.

Gonormongous - I don't understand why you kept on watching chu2koi2 when you stated previously that it was terrible. I quite liked the first season, and I watched the first episode of the second season and then stopped, as for me the writing was on the wall that this was a bad thing. I guess the important thing is the sales chart. If it flops, hopefully they'll drop it. Which I doubt as people eat this shit up like it's going out of fashion. However, I wouldn't say it's the worst show ever. It certainly isn't anything incredible, sure, and for all it's worth it is just moe-blobs being moe-blobs. I think we discussed earlier the adaptation of the light novel? Which I believe you read? I'd always assumed that it'll play it safe so that it doesn't step on the potential toes of the next light novel. I'm not defending the atrocity that you sat through, I'm just saying there's worse out there. I'd prefer people to associate anime to this vacuous shit instead of whatever hentai clips people have found on their garden variety porn sites. (As a person who's been on an anime committee for 3 years running, you have no idea how many people say 'oh anime? Is that like Bible Black?') Certainly fan service on the level of Manken-ki and Queen's Blade is a much worse thing that is ruining anime's image. Especially given that these shows have guaranteed good DVD sales because they can remove the censors, so these kinda shows will always be present. This image of anime worsens when you factor in shows like Kiss x Sis. *shudder* But the future looks bright. At least the next season does. I'm so excited about Ping Pong, mainly because Masaki Yuusa is directing it, and boy does it look incredible. I'm so into sports anime right now. And JoJo's 2nd season too? This is going to be awesome.
  20. This might be too late, but if you keep talking to the merchant in the Iron Keep, he'll give you the covetous gold serpent ring. It increases your item drop rate. I also wonder if it's similar to dark souls in that being human also increases your drop rate. Finally, check out the king's passage for invaders. People drop loads of invasion signs because Hope this helps!

Which one? I'm assuming the second JoJo, Joseph? He does grow, especially in the 3rd arc onwards. He's the longest-living JoJo, and seeing him in arc 4 was heart-breaking. But I totally understand what you mean. Naruto and Bleach are the worst for that. I would arge in One Piece's favour, but I'm pretty sure nobody here cares, and Luffy's growth happens about about 550-odd episodes in. :/
  22. anime

I totally understand that burnout. It's why I like JoJo so much. Each arc is just a completely different set of characters and places, and in some cases completely different genres. Like the change from Hamon to Stands, and then the insane jump to horse racing. Some shonen is really good though. I love the imagination that's in One Piece. Sure some arcs can really drag out, but damn it I am so attached to the strawhats. I have weeped a tear at a fair few points in that anime/manga like no other anime can. More than Clannad ever did (Although I hear the real tear jerker is After Story). On that note Hunter x Hunter is getting darn good again. I'm liking this arc. Sorry

There are 637 episodes of one piece, and 800 episodes of Doctor Who. Now I'm not saying you're wrong, but bear in mind that Doctor Who is a BBC production, so will run for the whole 30 mins, as the BBC doesn't have mid-show ads, whilst One Piece is around 20-mins. You will spend more time watching all of Doctor Who than you would One Piece. Even If the production of Doctor Who slows down, it will still take over 3 years for One Piece to catch up to Doctor Who, at a rate of one episode per week. And on top of that, you'll have to put up with Steven Moffat's awful writing.
  24. anime

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to watch every episode of Doctor Who ever made, as the first episodes were recorded over due to the BBC not having any reels. I believe there are about 4 or 5 episodes from the early seasons which have been found in various archives. Just read the manga. It's faster, although you do miss the best fillers. Like the chopper man episode.
  25. anime

There's nothing wrong with ongoing shonen shows! One Piece is my favourite anime, and even though I've stopped watching it weekly, and just read the manga, I still occasionally load up the most recent episode to see how far they got. Likewise JoJo is a manga that's been going on for 25 years, and the anime is fantastic! And season 2 starts soon! Too soon! I am so excited. I liked Toriko, but my friend had a big problem with it. His argument is 'So there are these super rare animals. Instead of looking after them and making sure that they don't go extinct, they just kill them and eat them. Good job protecting the ecosystem bud' I totally understand. Yakitate japan made me feel the same way ._.
