  1. Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)

Agreed. Somewhere in my brainspace there was a notion that Samus was the strongest female video game character, and totally bucks the trend of over-sexualised anime-proportioned women in video games. I was saddened by the zero-suit samus in Brawl. Now she has high-heels. ugh. why. I wonder if Bayonetta would make an appearance? To me they look like they have the same body shape. It would just require a new character model.
  2. Far Cry 4: A grenade rolls down everest

Everyone's already said this, but it looks like Ubi's got another yearly franchise in their hands. Yay. I'm guessing this is going to be exactly the same as Far Cry 3. Even the box art looks the same. Oh man I don't care. AAA Games depress me.
  3. That was an insane story Bjorn. My recent bell bro stories are less interesting, just that I killed Chuck Norris, but Thundercunt killed me shortly afterwards. I also invaded a fella, only for mace windu to join me too. He had a hood on and a katana which had some hex magic on it, to make it look like a lightsaber. Custom names are the best thing on the PC version. Quick question about company of champions - I devoted about 6 awestones that i've collected last night. I looked at my tablet and there was a 0 next to my name. Is the number my devotion level or number of Awestones?
  4. anime

You also got Wario Ware: Twisted, as the mercury in the cartridge was considered too dangerous for the U.K. I picked it up when I went to Australia. They eventually released it over here, but they didn't use mercury, so you didn't get that satisfying click when you tilted. Also with Mushishi, do you need to watch the whole of the first season before this season? I've watched like half of it. Man the latest Ping Pong episode was a blast. The winter montage was fantastic, and it really highlighted how much characters have changed over the last 6 episodes. Also my missus told me that the reason why everyone is bald in that school is to show their true devotion to the sport. Apparantly it's a very old tradition to shave their heads to show their devotion. You might already know this, but I thought it was interesting.
  5. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

How was the Bee & Puppycat? I've got bravest warriors and Adventure time comics, but they're starting to be a bit lame. How does B&P hold up? I read Chew vol 1, which was fantastic. I got the first volume from the humble comic bundle. Now reading Saga which is great too. I've also started reading Dead Body Road, which is getting better and better every issue. The art is phenomenal. I also have 6 issues of Black Science to read, but i'm missing issue 2! Gah! Comics are so annoying in the UK.
  6. Idle Thumbs 158: P is for Podcast

Yeah, it's part of the EU CE. It's a physical cap, not an in-game item. I think the main thing to take away from this graph is that different areas expect and want different things from their CE's. How they worked this out I don't know. Dark Souls 2 had 2 different CE's too, With a replica set of weapons and shields for japan, and a figurine for the rest of the world. I don't feel cheapened by my Dark souls 2 experience coz I didn't get the replica weapons. Although the figurine was sweeeeet. Finally, This isn't the first time Ubi's done shit like this. I'm pretty sure it's the same for every AC game since revelations. Check out that game's crazy graph: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin's_Creed:_Revelations#Retail_editions
  7. SUPERHOT

Superhot has been funded in a day. Awesome. The $200,000 tier is for a replay mode, where you can view your run in real time. This will be fucking awesome.
  8. SUPERHOT

Amazing. Although I don't think that Explosions are a good idea. Their logic is that it's cool, which it will be, but I think there's a problem in that you can't dodge explosions like you can bullets. Also they are less predictable. I'm not sold. Still backed the fuck out of this coz fuck yes super hot. It looks so sweet.
  9. I had 2 fun PvP experiences recently in my PC run. Seems like I'm getting invaded more in my PC run than I did on the PS3. Maybe being in the Company of Champions increases the summon chance? I have also noticed that the lag is worse on the PC. Anyone else get that? Any ways: I got invaded in the Huntsman's Copse. Wandering on high alert, I noticed a pot that I was pretty sure wasn't there. (this was on the patch of ground next to the stairs which goes into the room full of enemies) I smacked it, and it started moving. The guy must have realised the jig was up, and legged it, back to the start. He got to near the bonfire, uncloaked, rolled, and quickly dispatched me in my confusion. It was all over too quick and I was stun locked. Do you see the health bar of enemies when they're using Chameleon? In the Lost Bastille, I got invaded by a hex fella. I was in that pit where the dogs were, and managed to kill them and the crossbow guy before the invasion happened. Now, I had entered through the door, not the window. The invader entered through the window, and did something I did not know about. He hit the wooden barrel that was next to the crossbow fella. Boom. I didn't die, but was amused. The rest of the fight wasn't much to write home about. I died. There was much lag.
  10. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Damn I loved Pinobee on the GBA. Can't remember a thing about it, just that it was a thing I played. I am forced to quit Card Wars for the Android, as although it is a loving rendition of Adventure Time's Game with the same name as featured in the similarly titled episode, it crashes on loadup. Which is a shame, as I was enjoying it a lot. Flooping the pig was a joy just to say 'I flooped the pig' at BMO. Also the card game didn't totally suck. Sadly I didn't get into it much, but it felt like there was depth there. Maybe. Micro transactions in a game I paid for was lame though. Wasn't a fan of that.
  11. Nintendo 3DS

Sorry, i got that the wrong way round: R/B then B/W. I didn't like G/S because the legendary dogs pissed me off, and continue to do so every game since then.
  12. anime

Funny. I watched the first episode of this very anime the other day. Pros: It's done by madhouse, so very pretty and well animated. It's not actually about a guy who get's sucked into a video game, just a guy who gets sucked into a world where games are played to decide anything. World is fairly interesting. It's not about him wanting to return to earth. Cons: Main guy has creepy lolicon affection for his much younger sister. Is a harem anime. Tropes-ahoy ecchi level: 4/10 pantsu All in all, for a first episode, it's not bad. It treads the same neet-in-room to fantasy world that you've seen a million times before, slaps you with some lore then he potters about with his sister and meets some main characters, all of which are girls. I am willing to watch another episode, as it has potential, but I'm sceptical of that potential. It's better than SAO (which is shit anyways), much better than Ixion Saga (which is so much worse than SAO), but not as good as the Greed Island arc in Hunter x Hunter. Edit: Whoo 200 posts! The most posts I've ever done in a forum :3

SR3 is much better if you haven't played it already. I personally didn't like SR4, as it was all too dark and gave me a headache. for a VR world, they could have turned the lights on. I did love the in-head radio though. That was the best, as it meant I could listen to the songs when walking about too.
  14. Cartoons!

I watched the first episode of Rick and Morty and it wasn't my thing. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Just meh. I smiled at bits, maybe a chuckle at a few jokes. The art style didn't bother me as much as the constant burping and the fairly predictable jokes. The intro was cool though. Adventure Time is still better. Which reminds me that the Masaki Yuasa episode has been aired already. Shoot. Need to get onto that.
  15. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

I don't have much to say in this argument that hasn't already been said, but I felt that Nintendo has made an effort to reach out to the 'hardcore' market by buying Platinum games and publishing Bayonetta 2 after Sega stupidly dropped them in favour of more Sonic games. Which I always think is a weird move, as a Nintendo 10 or 15 years ago would never touch an IP like Bayonetta.
  16. Idle Thumbs 157: Molymoto

Damn you for posting this first. As a rebuttal, I'd like to quickly state that this isn't true, and that Studio Ghibli has publicly come out and denied such theory: Source: http://www.tofugu.com/2013/08/15/conspiracy-theory-totoro/ (the last paragraph. It's a translation from their japanese website)
  17. Idle Thumbs 157: Molymoto

I have yet to listen to this podcast, but seeing Dark souls 2 in the list of discussed games makes me giddy with excitement.
  18. Nintendo 3DS

B/W is the best series, closely followed by R/B. Ruby and Sapphire was so awful though. It wasn't just the world, but also the team rocket story is so stupid. worst of the series in my eyes.
  19. So the fellas who made Towns has officially stopped fixing and updating the game: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/05/07/towns-called-malice-development-of-city-builder-ends/ I never played it, but it seems bad business sense to just stop working on an unfinished game. I wonder if their next game (if they make a next game) will be a success. Apparently there was talk of a Towns 2!
  20. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

A tip to make Dark Souls 2 harder (and therefore better): From the off, choose the depraved class, then join the company of champions. Depraved class gives you no equipment bar the clothes you start off in, and the company of champions increases attack and HP of enemies by 20%, essentially NG+ without completing the game once. this is what I did on my PC run of Dark Souls 2 and I'm enjoying it more than I did on my ps3 run. Also I think I've accepted and internalised the differences from 1 and 2, and therefore enjoying it a lot more. Also the whole knowing where to go and what to do is immensely satisfying for me. And the load times are lighting fast on the PC (my main irk of the ps3 version being the loading times taking an age)
  21. General Video Game Deals Thread

Guess I'll give it a miss then. Thanks for the heads up. Nidhogg didn't recognise my 360 HORI game stick, so I highly doubt it'll recognise the SNES USB. It works great with a 360 controller, however. I guess you could try and run xpadder to get the SNES USB to work.
  22. General Video Game Deals Thread

Has anyone played towerfall? I'd like to give it a go, but from the sounds of things it's local coop and I don't have mates. Is there a single player mode?
  23. I'm pretty sure Freezepop is somehow related to Harmonix. I think a member works there, so it's not out of the question. Same with Anarchy Club.
  24. As long as they keep on making games, I don't think it'll change anything drastically. In other news, It seems that NOLF has gotten out of legal dispute hell and will have a re-release. Finally I'll be able to play it. Also Harmonix has started a kickstarter for a re-release of Amplitude for the PS3/4. In 18 days they have to raise $775,000. I love harmonix more than any thing, but this is an absurd amount, for a small game that got good reviews but not much sales. To top it off, their backer reward tiers are silly. $125 for a t-shirt? come on. Also no PC? why? And their reasoning behind the kickstarter is annoyingly ambiguous. Idk, it all seems like too much.
  25. HOTS... no the other HOTS. The Lords Management one damn it!

Sorry to be a noob-baby gamer but what is HOTS? I have worked out it is a Lord's management game, but that's about it. :S
