  1. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

You can speed it up. Also Mington, Double Dash is the best. Best levels, best roster, and the two player element to the karts meant that it had some hidden depth to the tactics of the game. The unique specials for each character is something that I missed sorely. What I do like about Mario Kart 8 is that you get a stamp for every time you come first overall in a cup per character, which means I've obsessively won a cup with every character. Roselina is my favorite so far. I'm doing much better with the heavy classes than I used to, as I always favored the light classes.
  2. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I got ZombiiU and it's good fun. Played like an hour or 2 of the singleplayer and got bored, but it's pretty neat. The Multiplayer is great fun though. It's local 1v1 capture the flag. The player with the pad has a tower defense esq thing where they place zombies to capture and defend the flag. The player with the controller plays an FPS on the screen where he also has to capture the flags. It's pretty great fun. Also my three choices are Sonic lost worlds, Sonic and mario at the olympic games and wii party u. Anyone know anything about these titles? Leaning towards olympic games because at least it'll be fun?
  3. Idle Thumbs 160: Die Übiverse

I think the fact that it is a point that a bunch of people have thought 'this is something to be ashamed of' is the problem with it. It's similar to outing someone being gay as a thing that's something to be ashamed of. If that makes sense. The fact that it has become a point is the problem.
  4. Idle Thumbs 160: Die Übiverse

I think the difference between wolfenstein and Watch Underscore Dogs (as it should really be called) is that Watch Underscore Dogs' existence has been around longer, and the movement along the hype cycle had peaked 6 months earlier before it's delay. When it actually came out people were less interested in it because maintaining that level of hype and interest is hard for a new IP. I also heard that the game's delay was so that it could distance itself from GTA V, as apparently early press viewings were pretty negative due to it being 'just another GTA clone'. But that could also all be heresay. Wolfenstein on the other hand came, looked interesting and then as the general interest peaked, got released, and also happened to be a pretty great game. I am downloading it now. On another note, when you talked about civilians being run over in Watch Underscore Dogs and feeling bad, it reminded me of the first Driver game, because all the civilians jumped out of the way of the car, and never got run over, as as soon as you reached a certain distance from the person it just triggered a jump animation to the side. To me this made sense, as in reality, if a car is hurtling down a pedestrian street, people will not want to die, and will do their best to avoid it. Sounds stupid, but it's not really done in open world games anymore. Of course, it is harder to program than it was in Driver's day. Also on another note, Watch Underscore Dogs has also risen controversy because one of the things that you can 'out' people on to make a distraction is that they are trans-sexual. As if that's a thing people should be ashamed of.
  5. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

This would be the kinda thing that I'd expect in the Lego Batman games. Not that it wouldn't be awesome in Arkham Knight because it totally would.
  6. anime

    Holy FUCK wtf Gon.
  7. General Video Game Deals Thread

Guh. Sorry about that. It was late when I wrote that. That would have been sweet. I might have even played it. Still on the table if anyone wants it. someone must love Lord Management games right? Enough to play another one? Right? Anyone? ... I think it looks shit. Still, a free game is a free game?
  8. General Video Game Deals Thread

I don't want to sound like a scammer or a... whatever, but I have a free copy of 'Dead Rising: Epidemic' that I have no interest of owning or playing. I'm not even sure how I got it, but I can gift it, so who wants it? Looks like a zombie Lords Management game. Yay. The most overused thing in video games must surely bring a breath of fresh air into the already nailed-down Lords Management scene right? uh. I dunno. Maybe it's a thing that everyone owns. Idk. Still. Anyone want it?
  9. anime

I really don't like FMA. Something just didn't sit right with me at all. The jokes were all off, and the story was meh. I found it so weird that everyone's shouting at him 'YOU'RE A DOG NOW. NOTHING BUT A FUCKING DOG' and him to be like 'OH COOL'. Idk. It was a long time ago, and brotherhood is annoying because the first episode was darn good, but then to go back straight to the boring ass origin story that's really not that great just killed any interest for me. Idk. Something just didn't connect for me. Maybe a world thing of being kinda medieval, people have cars and robot hands but not fucking TV's? idk. True, backstory is a common staple of many genres. I just wish there wasn't so much of it when it feels like it's not really needed. Guh Gon will kick ass good. I can't wait.
  10. Recently completed video games

I totally didn't get this problem when I played Tomb Raider, but I was playing with a controller, and probably a while after the initial release, so it must have been patched. I finished Cave Story! Oh wow I'm late on this game rite? It's super good. Just got the normal ending, but replaying it to get the best ending. Now stuck in hell. T_T I can get past the first screen, but I run out of health before I can even get past the falling rocks. I love how much variety there is in such a small game. Idk, I wasn't expecting it at all. Stuff like saving Curly Brace and getting the 2.0 booster is super cool. Also the actual story isn't that bad. My favourite part so far has to be the first time you meet Balrog. He has a dialogue option where he says "You don't want to fight me with that pea shooter do you?" when I first did that I just clicked 'yes' instinctively and fought him. I was pleasantly surprised in my second run that upon choosing 'no' he just fucks off. In my head I was sure to get some amusing quip and then forced to fight him. Coz you know, it's a boss. Stupid thing, but it was pretty cool for me.
  11. About doujin games, there are a lot out there that are pretty fantastic. Playism has the best repository for Japanese indie games. Steam is getting them slowly though. I'm not really sure how it all works :/ I can't remember if the reader mail also mentioned La Mulana, but that game is brill. And almost impossible to complete without a guide. Another great game is Steins;Gate. Apparently it's better than the anime, but it's a visual novel that isn't porn and is actually a really good story. Touhou is a great bullet hell series, and it boggles me as to why Team Shanghai Alice hasn't gotten them on some online store. You can only buy the official games on CD. I have 3 of them. The rest I've pirated because there literally isn't any other way if you're not in Japan. The creator of Touhou (Zun) is pretty interesting, as he's kinda like the Grateful Dead of gaming, because he's ok with people doing whatever they like with his characters, so long as they don't spoil the endings of the games. This pretty much single-handedly created the whole doujinshi boom, and made events like Comike (a japanese doujinshi convention) a huge event. Even today, there is a whole floor in the con dedicated to Touhou. There is an absurd amount of Touhou related stuff that isn't "official". I picked up a doujinshi of Touhou crossed with bioshock. There is even an anime series that looks amazing. Like professionally made. They would have even gotten professional VA's if it wasn't for Zun publicly speaking out against that idea. I'll shut up now and go. side note: As a brit, the first ten minuets of your show was confusing. I still don't know who this Wilson is or what he looks like or this fence.
  12. anime

Yes. The training arc is great. Some stuff is so fucking retarded though. Like when one guy says that he is a dam, created to block you or some shit, only to then have a the background fade out and be replaced by an image of an actual dam. like we don't know what a fucking dam is. I find that Yowamushi annoys me slightly in a lot of weird ways like that. There is some exposition and back-story that seems to be there just because a person is in the race. And they all have back stories and they all want to win. I'm not complaining about back stories, but I do wish they were slightly better handled so they don't feel so fucking tropey. I don't think everyone needs a reason to win a race. It's a race. By definition people want to win it. I like sports anime because it's like a fighting anime, but no-body dies, and people grow and change a lot faster and better. But seriously check out Kuroko coz it's the best sports anime since sports. Also have you watched the latest episode of Hunter x Hunter (130)? I have watched the first episode of this, and I might have watched it under the wrong circumstances, but it wasn't great. It was very slow. I have heard it's great though, so maybe it's just me.
  13. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I personally bother with a shield. The heater shield is your best friend. I think I also changed to the tower shield to defeat the 4 kings. I don't duel wield in general as I feel naked without the comfort of being able to block. In general you don't get smacked down that much. Also the Flip ring helps a lot. Get that ASAP.
  14. anime

I did warn you of that with my review of NGNL earlier Twig. I do agree though, it's a weird meme to have. And really off-putting. As for why, I'm not really sure.
  15. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

My current jam: these guys need way more than 170 views. I guess I'm going to like their first album until they make it big, and then I'll disown them.
  16. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Agreed, Rayman Legends is fantastic. I've been playing Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails. Which is a fantastic name for a pretty ace game. Although my natural predisposition to get all the cats in one go makes me mad and means I only have completed 4 levels so far. Has anyone else played this?
  17. I Had A Random Thought...

For what it's worth, vertiginous golf is fantastic. Not realistic in the slightest though.
  18. Is anyone else strangely excited for the new Wolfenstein game?

What worries me more is the last line of the original Castle Wolfenstein wikipedia article. whut.
  19. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

So there's like a whole lot more past the block picker upper. There's upgrades and it gets pretty crazy. There's also more to it than just to use it to jump over things. The creator spent a lot of time on that gun, trying to get it all working and such. Especially with the upgrades to it later. Also look at the map, it's a pretty good indicator as to where to take you next. All I'm saying is that it's a shame to quit just as the puzzles start getting good.
  20. anime

Yes. It's fantastic. I don't think it's as great as Kuroko, but it's getting there. You should check out Yowamushi Pedal too, it's fab. I tried Baby Steps, which is about tennis, but didn't like it because the main guy has a serious mental problem that should probably be delt with instead of it being laughed off.
  21. You have to talk to her at either No Man's Wharf or The Lost Bastille, and finish her conversation lines (Ideally both) She then appears at the Earthen Peak next to the first bonfire. She then also gives you the Ring of Steel Protection +1. If you don't speak to her then, you don't get the summon sign in front of the Smelter Demon. In order to finish her quest line,
  22. anime

I'd say give it 5. I think it's around the 5th or 6 episode before shit really hits the fan. and oh boy does it hit the fan. Btw spoilers for peeps who haven't watched Anohana. tag dat yo! (I have yet to watch all of it, and I felt that was spoiled for me :3 I'm also super sensitive to spoilers) Yeah, it seems to be a common thing with anime movies. Pretty sure you can thank EVA for that. The first movie was pretty much a 1:1 retelling of the first 5 episodes or so, just with a different sea. I've heard the Madoka movies are the same, but I've yet to watch them. also, I usually give things 2 eps before I drop it. I think I'm going to drop Mekaku City Actors as that show is sooooooooo pretentious. Fucking shaft. Also on the list of great shows - Yondemasuyo Azazel-san! It's hilarous. Also DMC - Detroit Metal City is a great fucking show. It so perfectly lampoons the legends that form around metal acts in a hilarious way. Also the music is done by Maximum the Hormone. The opening is awesome:
  23. Strange, there should be an NPC summon near the Smelter demon door. Specifically Lucatiel of Mirrah. I summoned her on that boss fight, in order to finish her quest line. Talking about Lucatiel, I found her in Black Gultch. Oh man. Tears imminent. I missed her on my first playthrough. I'm not looking forward to what's going to happen when I meet her again.
  24. Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)

I'm guessing that they have had it implemented before that debacle though. It's not something that could be implemented so quickly. It probably influenced them to release that snippit, if at all. I don't know why they couldn't have just let you find that out for yourself.
