  1. Nintendo 3DS

Mainly my laziness. I took the picture ages ago using the shoulder buttons in ACNL. The Miiverse takes aaaages to load on the 3ds. I could have taken my SD card out of the 3DS, but as I never turn off my 3DS, and most of my games are on the SD Card, it would be a pain to take out. With the new update, there's a button on the same screen where you could change your theme where you can upload photos to Twitter/Facebook. Which is nice. What was nicer was that it somehow knew the picture was of ACNL and gave it the appropriate hashtag. I guess it was some image info stored on the picture. Still cool though. The time wasting is certainly massively reduced once you've progressed far enough. Here's a couple of things that I learnt that made the automation process quicker: The only two common items that you need, but can't buy is honey (for mega potions) and flashbugs (for shock traps). I advise to use your fields making these two items. both green herbs and blue mushrooms you can buy from the grandma at the port, although she's not guaranteed to have them each time you visit her, so stock up when she does! If you're running out of resources, convert the items the fishermen bring in to resources. They don't have any other uses. You can get a BBQ that allows you to continuously cook meat. It also comes in hat form for Chacha/Kayamba Bring honey with you on missions, so you can convert your potions to mega potions on the fly. Always hug the poogle. I'm really excited for 4U. It's going to be ace. Although I also really enjoy the down time between hunts. There's something quite satisfying seeing the village grow. Also I'll miss Cha-Cha and Kayamba a lot. I know fans of the series complained that there were no feyline companions, but I preferred it without them.

Man, the latest update meant I can finally upload this picture to twitter.
  3. anime

Yeah it's kinda gross, and why I'm not watching nisemonogatari yet. Wrapped it in spoiler tags for ya.
  4. anime

Ugh Haikyuu was good too! Although Yowamushi Pedal's second season started yesterday! It's so good! I forgot how great the characters are and how much I love this show. It's so darn good. It's nice to see characters that feel genuinely weird and different, and Yowapeda does that really nicely with Midousuji. As for the rest of the new season, Terra Formers starts out good, I also watched Denki-gai, which was ok. felt a lot like a poor man's Working! (Which should have a third season. That show was ace.) I also watched a really funny short called I don't understand my husband at all or something like that. It made me laugh more times in 5 minuets than Denki-gai did in 25.
  5. anime

Yeah, I felt the ending made up for the rest of the show, which wasn't all that. I also had no attachment to anyone, and 5's English was terrible, although the blonde guy's English was actually pretty good. Made me think it was actually filled by a native English speaker, which is rare. The last episode of Barakamon was ace. I have yet to watch the last episode of Space Dandy, but the second to last one was really good. Part of me thinks Dandy's matured a lot since the beginning of the season, and seeing his past was more interesting than I thought. I'm going to guess the last episode is as random as the rest, but it'd be nice if there was some closure.

  7. Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)

WiiU UK SSB release confirmed 5/12: You can also get amiibo bundle: I'm assuming you can choose your amiibo bundle, because I really want that Yoshi. EDIT: WiiU + GC controller bundle revealed as well, but we already knew that. Waiting for them to release the WiiU + GC controller + amiibo bundle now. XD This is all from the UK Nintendo twitter feed btw. I assume the US will be getting the same release date/bundles?
  8. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

So I didn't know this, but there was a promo comic of Tru TV's Impractical Jokers. Which is weird. I guess it kinda makes sense because Q is a huge comic fan, but this seems like a weird comic cross over. Does anyone know of any other weird crossovers like this? It was recently in a bundle with TESD's Cryptozoic man on their bandcamp page, and it was sold out in seconds.
  9. Cartoons!

Has anyone else watched Bob's Burgers? I've gotten to season 3 now and I really love it. It's hilarious, and the family dynamic is pretty great too. I also love that Bob actually is a talented chef, just like Archer is a talented secret agent. Also the support cast characters are pretty great too. I don't really have much to say apart from it's great, and H Jon Benjamin should be in more things because he has a great voice that I could listen to forever. It's like butter on sandpaper, like the rough with the smooth and it's amazing.
  10. Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)

You can button mash your way out of these two items. I do agree though, they are bullshit.
  11. Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)

So who bought Smash Bros? I have been playing it pretty solidly over the last couple of days and it's pretty ace. My initial impressions of the multiplayer is that little mac is a little OP ass-hat. But it's still a lot of fun. I like the challenge picture thing, that's a neat idea for keeping me addicted to the game, as well as trying new players out. The control scheme still feels fucking weird, but i recon it'll just take time before i get over that. I think I'll have the same problem on the WiiU too. It'd be cool to have an idle fight sometime, if people are up for it. No Lil' mac.
  12. Life

I mean, he has got a reason to cause concern, because that cross (in the anime) is full of weapons, as well as being a huge dock-off weapon itself. All it means is that the security guard knows his anime. Although seriously, swinging that thing could probably cause some serious pain if it's made out of anything harder than cardboard, so I guess I understand their concern.
  13. Nintendo 3DS

So who's got Fantasy Life? Despite my original questioning, it's actually quite good! I chose a mercenary as my first life, got given a lovely little introduction in the world of mercenaries and then BAM I was on story fun times, which isn't all too lame either, although it can be a bit dry. The weird thing for me is that 7 hours into the game, and doing a fair bit of the story, they never explicitly tell you to change your life (class). They just kinda expected you to do it, which is weird when so much stuff is tutorialised, even 7 hours in, but the actual interesting part of the game isn;t. Also you can't change your class during missions, so be weary you have chosen a fighting class when you do start the next story mission. But changing classes is lovely and so much fun! Every class has their own master, and a master's apprentice, who are both funny and great characters. You can choose to skip introductory missions, which is cool, but why would you when it's so much fun? Also smash bros is waiting for me when I get home.
  14. emote me

I love the emoticons in this forum. It's just a shame I'll never know the context to correctly use them. especially this one.
  15. Windows 10: "It wouldn't be right to call it Windows 9."

I thought it was a similar reasoning behind xbox original to xbox 360 - because then they can look like their on the same version as OS X, and not lagging behind. (Just like the PS3/360)
  16. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Yeah I noticed that too. But only on the Tablet screen did it look noticeably worse. I didn't notice any frame rate issues though. It didn't bother me enough to stop playing, as it was a lot of fun.
  17. Life

Sorry! We should meet up again before I leave though! The new job is called 'Support Development', which is pretty much what I'm doing now (Internal Support), but with development work thrown in, as well as a more clear route to go into development. On top of the job being more suited to what I want, there is less and less work to do at the company I'm working at now, and after the project that I'm doing up until I leave, there really isn't a need for 3 people in Internal Support. Also the employees are dropping like flies, either due to redundancies or finding other (better) places to work. On top of that, I really miss Leeds, as most of my uni friends are still living there. Getting a new job is weird, because I'm really happy to move on and stuff, yet all my work colleagues are genuinely shocked and sad to see me go. Which is the opposite reaction as to what I feel. This is also the first time I've ever changed jobs, so maybe this is natural. I know how you feel. It's really hard to get motivated to send out CV's when they're just going to be ignored. It's even worse when the current job is making you so depressed. In my case, my unhappiness lead me to find a new job. I hope you find something soon Teg!
  18. Playing Through Mario 64 1st Time, Difficult or Just Me?

I remember Mario 64 being really hard when I was a kid, but I was probably too young when I first played it. It's weird because I finished it completely on the DS, with all 150 stars without much difficulty. Certainly the camera improved in places, but I felt that the slightly more finicky controls like the wall jump worked better on the DS version. Banjo-Kazooie I fucking loved as a kid though. I never beat Gruntilda, but I remember being super excited to collect all the eggs and the big ice key and the mystery behind it all. The mystery that was only revealed when the remake came out on the 360 and was super underwhelming. But I also completed B-K easily when I replayed it on the 360. I don't know if my skills have just improved massively over the years, or the game is somehow easier on a controller that isn't the N64's. B-T sucked. I was really dissapointed with it. Also another game you should try is Conker's Bad Fur Day. Which is great.
  19. Life

I haven't been around much in the forums because I've been pretty busy. Mainly because I managed to find a new job! Yay! I've not been too vocal about it, but I really dislike my current job. Now not only am I changing job, but I'm also relocating! Bye Bye Cambridge! Hello Leeds! My apologies to Ben X for leaving him alone in Cambridge.
  20. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

The other thing that they never mentioned about Hyrule Warriors is that the whole game can be played co-op. Which is pretty neat if you're not too fussed about getting every base and finding all the Golden Skulltulas (which is kinda lame btw. They appear generally after 1000 kills, but in the story mode, there is 2 per map (you unlock the other one after completing the game), and only one golden skulltula will appear in a playthrough, which is annoying.) Basically, One person plays on the Tablet, and the other person (with either the pro controller or the wiimote + nunchuck) plays on the TV. Which is pretty rad. It's also quite funny, as P1 is generally locked to one or two characters, whilst P2 can choose anyone, so we had a blast playing as Ganondorf and Zelda, as watching the princess of light siding with someone evil to do evil things. In contrast, DK:TF's co-op is pretty terrible. It really is a single player game with co-op tagged on, for three reasons: First, the second player cannot swap character between or mid levels. This is a serious hindrance, as sometimes you need to play with cranky kong to get a 'KONG' letter that's in a spike pit. Secondly: The later levels (especially the last world and the bonus stage) require some perfect platforming that is hard with 2 players, as it generally reacts to whomever has touched the ground/gate first, usually leaving someone either constantly dead. Thirdly: On the later levels, 2P will mostly spend their time on DK's back, as it's the most useful spot for survival. Also on a seperate note, Diddy is fucking useless. I don't understand what he's got over Dixie, who can actually fly, instead of just hovering. Cranky at least has moments where he's useful. BAH! Also Also, I just realised I've been saying skulltula 'skull talla'. Stupid words.
  21. anime

Isn't it the (in)famous toothbrushing scene? A quick google also shows a lot of his sister in various states of undress. I agree with you about Tokyo Ghoul. The pacing is all over the shop. The last episode, however, was fantastic. I really liked On another pacing note, I really enjoyed Terraforma's first episode. It was like 'oh there's a guy - TO MARS PEOPLE!'. Was totally expecting a training montage or something. Also the way that rocket lifted off at the end (and my bear minimum knowledge of Kerbal Space Program) there is no way that rocket got enough delta v to get out of the atmosphere. And to start curving that quickly is insane! They'd lose so much momentum doing that. And then they remove two thrusters in two different staging - at the same time? Why waste all that fuel on dead weight? They should have released it earlier! what the fuck anime? EDIT: O hai new page. Awkward gif to start with... Edit 2: shoved that gif in a spoiler tag.
  22. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

agreed, DK:TF is miles better than NSMBU.
  23. Recently completed video games

I finished Hyrule Warriors! It's good! I say finished, the adventure mode is a mode that I have and will sink many hours into, but I finished the main story. Basically, the adventure mode the entire map of the first zelda game, where each screen is a separate challenge, and depending on your rating, you can advance to the adjacent screens. What makes it even more addictive, is that in each screen, there is the possibility of unlocking secret items, by 'searching' the screen, and then using the correct icon on the correct tile, so a lamp to burn the bush, bomb to blow up the wall, etc etc. These items you get by completing the challenges. And it's really really compelling. It also helps that the actual gameplay is good fun too. I found that Dynasty Warriors can get a bit dull and tiresome, but the enemy types are varied enough in their attack patterns and their focus bar (it's a bar that pops up after an attack, and depleting it causes your character to do a special attack & knock off a sizeable chunk of his HP) is a really fun mechanic. Also the addition of bosses is great, although I do wish there was more than 3, and it does get a bit tiresome making the boss trigger their one attack so you can use the correct weapon to expose their weak spot. Especially Gohma. damn Gohma.
  24. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I'm pretty sure the SSD Read/Write limitations is not a problem any more, unless you got an SSD from a few years back, the R/W count is so high that unless you were running a server off of it, it's not going to run out any time soon.
  25. Hammerwatch - A thumb whacking good time

Sure, but if it was designed with co-op in mind, why give you the option to play it single player? When I load up a game, I'm always under the impression that it's a single-player experience, unless specified otherwise. I thought the same when I loaded up hammerwatch too. Idk, maybe I'm just an anti-social gamer. I also think fighting games are kinda different, in terms of single player vs multiplayer. I certainly play a lot of fighting games single player too.
