  1. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Don't bother upgrading your armour at all until you get to advanced hunter levels. When you become an advanced hunter, you unlock a second tier of armour that is the same set of armour, but with better stats, and those armour stones are a pain to re-collect, so keep 'em until later. As for sets, I was told that the best starting gear to forge is a complete Jaggi armour set, as it's relitively easy and I think it gives you poison resistance? In reality though, a complete set is hard to come by later on, as getting one requires serious dedication to get items that have a drop rate in the single digits. And on top of that, the buffs and de-buffs are more exaggerated, so it's best to mix and match. As for dying, you can feint 3 times before you lose the mission. When you feint you lose half the reward money, and (more importantly) any buffs you get from the meal you ate beforehand. you keep anything that you had in your pouch. Failing a mission is slightly different however, You keep the stuff in your pouch (I think) and you lose all your reward money. Any items that can be converted into cash or points (like wyvern's tears) are converted though. (I hope that makes sense)

Was that the Butterfly armour per chance? Because that's a fantastic chest piece, in both it's design and stats. Farming for the stuff was ridiculously boring because it was just bugs. Definitely end game has grind for that all-important drop, but in general I found that in 3 (I also haven't gotten that far in 4 yet) I didn't really need to worry that much about the items for the upgrades. In general there is 1 specific item per upgrade that has a higher rarity than the other items, which would require me to grind a specific monster, but at this point it should be a pretty easy drop. I would say not to worry too much at this point, proficiency in the weapons themselves are more important early on. I would even go so far as to say not to worry too much on upgrading weapons, as soon better weapons would be unlocked in the forge, which will give you a bigger step up than upgrading. (I'm sure someone more versed in MonHun could correct me on this)

USFII UHD Edition coming to PS5, Xbox 1 and PC 2018. If you record Pasturised milk in 4K does that then make it UHT in UHD?
  4. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Perfect fruit chances are not related to your town rating, they are completely random. They also only occur to your native fruit (the fruit that your trees have when you first arrive in your village). Just keep on shaking them trees, you'll get one eventually! As for villager pics, just keep at it! They'll give it to you eventually! The April Fool's event is also a super easy way to get all your villager's pics, as that's the prize you get for correctly identifying blanka. Sure, I have every fruit variety and about 50mil in my bank last time I checked, but I'm scared to go on because it's been a month and my villagers will hate me. Failing that, when you get to the island, you can get fruit from the trees when you play the mini games.

In 10 years, when they re-make Deus Ex 3, will it be shortened to Deus EX: HR DC HD?
  6. I Had A Random Thought...

Oh. Now I wish I had paid attention in history classes.
  7. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

It doesn't. From what I played of the demo, you just choose a monster out of a rosta of 3 and go at it. But I never touched the SP part of it. Sorry, I meant spent money on the MonHun series in general, not specifically 4 (my bad) The first 2 tutorial missions are fetch quests, but from then on, the fetch quests are completely optional. They've clearly identified that as a problem for beginners, and have made it so that you could theoretically not do a fetch quest at all. They're still there, but you don't have to do them unless you're wanting full completion. Even the Guildmarm says that they're dull!
  8. I Had A Random Thought...

That can't be accurate, there's not a potato in sight.

What put you off getting into MonHun 3? the games are very similar, so it's hard to know what you didn't like about it. After googling Freedom wars, it does look incredibly similar to MonHun, so logically you'll like MonHun too. Low % drops are present in end-game MonHun too, but I never felt that I had to upgrade all my shit to do the SP portion of the game, and I never got to the very end of the MP side, or that I needed the upgrade in order to defeat the monsters. Edit: Again, I'd advise you to check out the demo on the eShop to make sure you like it before putting money into it (although it sounds like you already have XD)

I'm playing with a New 3DS stick. It's pretty good! I found with 3 that when you've found the monster, tapping L helped a lot in focusing the camera on the monster (which is generally what I wanted to look at). If you started on Tri with a pro controller then I'd probably say yes, it is worth picking up. At least there's no swimming like there was in 3U. That was insanely difficult with the on-screen D-Pad.
  11. anime

Yeah, ZnT was a mess of an ending. Baccano!, Tatami Galaxy, Kuroko's Basketball, Time of Eve, Evangelion (pffffft I kid but seriously if the end of rebirth doesn't blow everyone away there's going to be a lot of pissed fans.) There is one relationship in Bakuman that I liked, but it doesn't come into play until near the end, and like everyone that isn't Azuki, just gets mentioned and then tossed aside. Have you read Good Ending? That has a satisfying romance that seems to counter KarmaBurn's description. I think that a lot of the anime that gets created is shounen, which is probably why romances don't evolve beyond 'the chase'. I really liked the end of 'I don't understand what my husband is saying' as their relationship actually went somewhere. Also Bonnouji pops into my head as a good example of a seinen slice-of-life relationship that goes somewhere. Conversly though, the irritating thing about seinen relationships is that it so quickly just turns to porn. And it ain't a shojo romance without someone having a rape backstory, so I guess all genres have their tropes that are repeated and tired. sorry my points aren't that well formed. I don't think I'm being eloquent enough with my thoughts, but I think somewhere in that mess there's an interesting point.

The part that sticks with me is the conversation with his grandmother after the hotel incident, which pretty much went 'As I'm a mouse, my life span has shortened to that of a mouse, and I'm going to die probably at the same time that you are Grandma, and I'm happy about that'. That sort of expected and accepted mortality thing is something that isn't really ever touched in kids books, and has stuck with me for years. Also Dahl's short stories before he started writing kids stories are really good too, and are similarly grotesque and fascinating. Tattoo is a particular highlight, as well as the lighter one.

Oh my god that's adorable! is that what the street pass pic is of? How monhun 5 is going to top that I have no idea

I think you mean: On a seperate note, talk to your Housekeeper feyline in your tent, go to DLC > gifts and download the starter pack for free. gives you a bunch of stuff like Mega Potions, but more importantly, shock traps to capture monsters with. Capturing monsters gives you better drops in general, as well as increasing your chance of a rare drop. Also the items they give you aren't game-breaking, just makes life a bit easier, which is nice. I couldn't help but notice the Gifts part of the DLC section had prices on. I wonder what they're planning to get you to pay for. I know there's planned Feyline costumes, but I thought they would be free. :/
  15. Nintendo 3DS

So did the Tomb Raider re-make, thinking about it.
  16. My memory might be hazy, but I feel that TP was more of a reaction to the outcry of fans after WW. From what I can remember, Nintendo showed an awesome video of adult link beating up some moblins to show off the power of the gamecube, and then released WW when people wanted adult link stuff. In general though there isn't a bad Zelda game, bar 2 and the CDO games. I feel that the 3D ones are always trying to be different in some ways, just that some are more successful than others. I've been playing MM pretty obsessively since I got it on Wednesday, and now I'm stuck. I realised that I actually never completed the game on the N64! I've gotten the Zora's mask, and now I'm trying to work out how to get to the Pirate's bay, which my memory does not recall. I might have an idea though. I think this is where I got to before I gave up when I was a kid. I know what to do, just not how to do it. Any tips?
  17. I Had A Random Thought...

I think all Rold Dahl stories have a sinister side to them, which is what makes them so great, even now. The witches to me was particularly terrifying, and the bitter-sweet ending was something that always creeped me out. I also remember watching Men In Black when I was a kid and crying so hard I had to leave the screening for a bit. It wasn't even that the film was scary, it was just that they talk about poisoning people or something, and then I realised my coke tasted weird, and swore that I'd been poisoned, and therefore I was going to die. Turned out they just got my order wrong and gave me 7up instead.
  18. Nintendo 3DS

The second half is really cool to be fair. I first played it on the XBLA, as they did an HD remake, I think. Or maybe not? It might have been before HD remakes were a thing. Either way, it's definitely available on the 360 and PS3, possibly 4.
  19. I Had A Random Thought...

There was indeed a mario cereal! It was called the Nintendo Cereal System. They didn't have it when I went, but they did have a poster of it, or maybe it was just a framed box. It looked like this: What that ad doesn't show is how hilariously crappy the box art looked: I think that a boxed version of the cereal is pretty hard to get hold of. It didn't sell very well. Also as a kid I had a Xenomorph figurine, without knowing what aliens is or even that it came from aliens. I just thought it was cool, and I liked how you could press the stomach and his inner mouth thing would pop out.
  20. Nintendo 3DS

I totally understand that reasoning too. Castlevania plays a lot more like an RPG in some ways, as well as having secrets that are a lot more obtuse than metroid. But saying all of that, SOTN is fantastic, and is available on something somewhere. Fair enough!
  21. Nintendo 3DS

I was going to suggest SOTN too! Also maybe Cave Story, if you've never played it. There's a nice remake on the eStore that's well worth your time, I think. There's also metroid fusion on the WiiU, as well as the second Shantae which is on the eShop too. Would VVVVVV be considered a Metroidvania game? It's certainly an open world exploring shindig.

I feel there's a difference between Misa and Azuki/Aoki which makes Misa a bit more acceptable. Mainly that Misa's mistreatment by Kira shows what an awful person he is or something. To be honest I haven't read Death Note in such a long time though. As for the relationships in Bakuman, I never bought any of them. Azuki's is just too 'perfect'. She's so irritatingly naive. Then there's others and it's just so fucking coincidental, and feels so throw away that when they bring it up I completely forget that it was a thing in the first place. I don't know where season 1 ends, so I won't spoil it. Basically, it will be an ongoing issue, at least for me it was. I think the difference in Death Note and Bakuman is that Bakuman is a slice of life. Saying that though, I did really like Bakuman. They do a really good job of making manga details interesting, as well as pointing out trends that makes me think back to other manga and go 'ooohhh that's why they did that'. Yatterman Nights is still the best thing this season. I love it so much.

Honestly I don't think a guide will be that useful. From the looks of things, that's a guide from tri, the wii game, which is 2 generations old by now. Whilst general things are going to be the same, it's nothing that you couldn't ask us and we couldn't answer. I also started off on the twin blades on 3, but swapped to the switch axe as I didn't like the small damage yet high DPS, and prefered to smack them hard, yet the sword mode on the axe also gave me that speedy attack feeling. Currently I'm using the Charge Blade, just because it's new and I want to try something new, but I don't know if i'll stick with it. I really didn't like the Insect Glaive when I tried it in the demo, but that didn't have the added benefit of the c-nub that came with my new 3DS, so I might give it another crack.
  24. Recently completed video games

I'll try my best. I did think to do that last time I played and just fell right off a cliff and into poison. I'll give it a go now. As for the mouse, I've always used my right hand. I sadly don't have any real reason as to why, I guess it's just how i've grown up using it. I never had the wherewithal to swap them.

Talking about nostalgia, I went to the Cereal Killers Cafe in London this weekend, which has gained a lot of notoriety as you pay £5 for a bowl of cereal. Arriving at the cafe, there was a wait outside the cafe that went down the street. We spent most of the time in the line arguing whether it was worth the wait. 30 mins later we were actually inside the cafe. And oh boy, there was a lot of cereal: Including collector's cereal: Urkel-o's? I didn't even know that was a thing! Surely the perfect cereal for Zeus. And bill and ted cereal? We ordered a cereal cocktail, which consisted of: Trix, Fruitloops, fruitloops marshmallows and strawberry milk. It looked like this: It was fucking delicious, to our surprise. To be honest, it wouldn't have been as impressive if they hadn't have gone so full-on 90's with it all. They even had a bank of telly's showing old TV shows, on VHS, no less: We thought it was really fucking cool. Well worth the wait and not deserved of the negative press.
