I got the new Shantae last night (as it was finally released in the UK like 2 weeks ago), and it's all right. I don't have much to say on it, but I remember now what annoyed me about Risky's Revenge was all the back tracking, and that level with the pumpkin guards annoyed the fuck out of me it's a boring level design with frustrating enemy placement and you have to go through it like 10 times. I did get to the second island though, which I enjoyed, but then died and was whisked back to my last save, which was a good 10 mins before. No auto save on the level select? why? Or even the option to save at the beginning of an island/in the boat? I put it down out of frustration after that. I know I've barely touched the game, but it's not clicking for me like Shovel Knight did (which I only bring up because it was discussed alongside Shantae). I loved how in shovel knight you could complete the whole game with just your shovel, and how you discover a multitude of uses for it as the game progressed. With Shantae in the second Island there's some fishes that pop out of a waterfall that I can't kill, and annoying jumping fishes that takes too many hits to die and have annoying attack patterns. And then the stun animation after I've got hit is infuriating. The number of times I've lost progress because I got hit and then watched a stunned Shantae miss every platform on the way down is too many for me to think it's just a coincidence. I feel very underpowered, but not in a satisfying dark souls way, just in a way that makes me want to stop playing. Idk, there are some things I really like about the game, but other small things annoy the heck out of me. Like the art design is lovely and bright and colorful, with lovely SNES-era graphics, but it's annoyingly inconsistent. The character art that pops up in dialogue I like, but the smoke plumes that occur feel too high-def that they feel really out of place. I guess I'll reserve any more reservations for when I actually complete the game, because it looks like a very long game, and I'm only complaining after the first hour of gameplay, but it does feel like a lot of my gripes comes down to bad design over me being rubbish. Like, in that ammo baron bit, which whilst was ace, the reticule over the jumping platforms would appear when you're over the platform, and not on the platform, meaning that when I jump too high, the platform then gets destroyed before I can touch it, and then I'm sent to the beginning of that screen again. Argh!

The layers of weirdness in this clip multiplies exponentially, yet it's still funny and logical. I love Japan. I also need to watch this whole film.

Ohh riiiight I get it now. Sorry, I'm a complete idiot (but what's new eh?) Thanks guys! Is it weird? I don't think so. I see your point, that it's more a state of mind than a phyisical representation of gender, but I still don't think it's a weird thing for people to be fixated on.

But if you're doing that, how is that making it gender neutral? You're still distinguishing someone by their gender, but just replacing the first word with a 'z'... Right? ._.

Wow I didn't know that there were gender neutral terms. So are you meant to choose one and stick to it? I think it's confused me more actually.

I did it! I defeated the Gore Magahla! Fuck that guy! If it wasn't for my full spider armour, I wouldn't have noticed that it was ripe for capturing, and then with my speedy set-up perk it was a simple matter of luring it towards my trap and then tranqing it. Pro tip: Null berries can lower the virus build up, but it can't get rid of it. Currently I'm using: Lance, Insect Glaive, and the Hunting Horn just for MP. I love using the hunting horn. The Kelbi Wacker has heal, and it's super fun knocking out that combo and healing everyone at the opportune moment. combine that with the prevent knockback that you can get from playing two white notes and it's a shoe-in. The hunting horn is by far my favourite weapon, it's a lot of fun, even if I'm not good at it.

God damnit Roderick, I can't unsee that now.

So, uh... how do you address them? I genuinely wouldn't know how to answer that question. Maybe this shows my shortcomings more than anything.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Oscar selection done by some archaic system of filtering down films that qualify to be in the running for the selection of Oscar nominees? If feel that it's always overlooked when people invariably complain about Oscar nominations (if it's true at all) But I could be completely wrong, I really know nothing.

I'm really looking forward to the Amplitude remake. Whilst I have no personal attachment to Amplitude, I was gutted that I never got to play the original on the PS2, and I generally love everything Harmonix has done. From the backer vids they've shown, it looks really nice, and I'm excited to play it. I would love to see a Rock Band 4 though, but I don't know if the world is ready for another dirge of plastic peripherals. As for the Kickstarter I regretted backing, I backed the Yogventures kickstarter for too much money, and then as soon as it was over I lost interest in Minecraft and therefore Yogscast, and as soon as the updates dried up, I realised I'd wasted my money, and served as a constant reminder of what could happen whenever I look at kickstarters. The most I've invested in a kickstarter was $210 for Little Witch Academia 2. God I want to watch that anime so bad.

Wow I never noticed that before. That's really fucking cool. I do think that they put a lot of thought into the more recent pokemon gens than previous ones. But then again replaying ORAS shows me that maybe I was completely wrong about this, because wailmers are as cute as fuck. It could just be the age that I was playing it. (in my swadloon years)

Yeah, If you run out of stamina you drop the egg. It also used to be in 3 that if you did a shortcut that involved jumping off a cliff you'll break the egg too. Not sure how true that is now though. the 'Destroy X' sub-missions means to destroy that part of the monster's body. A cool thing with MonHun is that attacking a particular part of a monster constantly will 'destroy' that section of the monster. Keep attacking the monster's tail and it'll be chopped off, attack a selta's horn and it'll break, etc etc. Usually this is accompanied by a flinching animation and the monster changing it's look. It's a really neat way of knowing how close you are to finishing a monster as well as one of my favourite things about the series, because by the time you're getting close to killing it, they'll have destroyed wings, broken beaks and cut-off tails. In the case of Selta, the giant green horn that he predomidantly attacks with can be cut off. I believe that even attacks that connect but bounce off still does break damage, just not HP damage, if that makes sense.

Sewaddles are cute, but Swadloon's are cuter. They're grumpy old men wrapped in a blanket.
