Oh man I cried like 3 times in that final episode. It was amazing. God damnit I love that anime so much. Best sports anime ever? I think so.

I've always wanted to play a SMT game (that isn't Persona). I guess now is better than ever. There's a new Nintendo Direct tomorrow! I wonder what they're going to show? Hopefully more Zelda and Starfox stuff! Also Xenoblade got dispached today, so is coming soon! This, Bloodborne and MonHun is just too many big games to consume at once.

Well that's what I'm doing now. Only 3.5 hours left of work to go... Is it only me who's terrified at every turn? I think the lack of shield makes me feel so much more vulnerable than in DaS. Also the art direction is so grotesque and unlike anything I've really played before, that every new area I am double taking to make sure that I'm certain I actually want to go down there. All new places are scary and tense, which is a feeling I haven't felt since playing the original DaS. This game is amazing from the off, and I've barely scratched the surface.

Oh man, that's great to hear. Does it involve That's good. I missed the feeling of inter-connectivity in DaS2. I'd rather a twisty map that coils in on itself than a bunch of lamps/bonfires.

I finally got this game last night! It's fantastic. I don't think there's anything I can add that everyone else hasn't said, but I got to the first boss, which destroyed me. But then I was able to level up, which was ace. My only qualm with the game is that I worry that I'll miss those hunter lamps. so far I have only found 1. Is there another one a bit closer to that first boss? I'm getting a bit tired fighting my way through that bonfire, and running past it doesn't seem like a good idea.

Yeah, I didn't like the trailer either. But I still want to give it a go. There's also something by Gainax that I'll give a go. I swear there was a Trigger anime this season too, but I could have been thinking of the next season.

We've discussed us doing a podcast before. I say we do it. We should choose a series from the next season and focus on that throughout. My vote goes towards either: Hibike! Euphonium, digimon or Lupin III. Also Shiro Bako ended last Thursday. Man what a show. It's definitely a favourite of mine. The end of the penultimate episode had me in tears. So next season looks alright, like next seasons always do. Anyone looking forward to anything? Punchline looks... alright? Apart from that, nothing's really grabbed me. 2nd season of my husband doesn't understand me will hopefully be as good as the first. And I need to catch up on the SNAFU anime before the second season.

I hear that in Bloodborne, there's a known bug whereby if you turn off the PS4 without properly exiting the game, it can make you not able to load your save. But you can get it back. This might have been discussed in the Bloodborne thread though, I've been avoiding it because I'm getting the game today (hopefully) It wouldn't surprise me if it did boot you off as soon as you suspend though, given how important the online aspect of the game is, and how lame it would be if you get killed because you're idling in suspended mode.

I'm pretty sure there's a demo out for Project S.T.E.A.M. I remember thinking it was alright, but I got mildly annoyed that all the characters were clearly influenced by american culture, yet it was all set in steam-punk London. Not a Top hat to be seen. The fuck Nintendo.

I guess? I've never really thought about any of the context for any of the worlds in Mario games, just an 'oh there's the required lava/water/air stages'. Maybe 3D World is just a huge allegory of Mario's life? I found the gamepad great though. I used it throughout my play of it. Especially with the way you can stop enemies and junk by touching the screen. (edit: Not to say that the pro controller isn't ace, because it totally is)

I really like the dialogue! It's pretty funny, and the characters feel unique and interesting, more than in the 3rd game. Generally you can skip the text, unless there's a yellow speech bubble above guys. talk to the guildmarm, she'll usually say what you should be doing to progress. If you haven't done the expedition yet, you should go and do that. It's basically a randomly generated level with enemies, on the expedition screen, it'll tell you what to expect, in terms of monsters, weapons, and more importantly, poogie costumes. Expeditions also give you guild quests and some monsters (like the basarios or the Yian Kut-tu) can only be found in expeditions.

For what it's worth, the Dark Soul's Design Works art book has a very long and in-depth interview with Miyazaki regarding everything, which might be what you wanted to know in regards to your thoughts on his design process. I have a spare copy if you'd like me to send it to Thumbs HQ, if you're interested Chris. One thing I do remember him saying is that the restrictive information and design came about when he was reading Lord of the Rings before it was translated into Japanese. His English was very limited, so he had to make up what happened between the parts he couldn't understand. He wanted to reflect this in the story-telling in the game. Edit: Also, it's worth noting that this isn't his first game with these design choices, just that deamon souls was the first in the series of From games that got a world-wide release. There has been 4 King's Fields games that are similarly hard and cryptic like souls. So it's not as if it's sprung out of no-where. If that makes sense.

Yeah, there's no real need to do collection quests unless you want to. To progress to level 2, you just have to meet a minimum amount of quests to unlock urgent requests. Fufill the urgent requests and you're onto level 2 missions. Also listen to the Caravaneer, as there's a point where you have to undergo an expedition to continue the story/levels. I know you were complaining about the non-hunting missions. You can just do all the hunt/capture quests to fufill the quota to get to level 2. I haven't needed to do a non hunting mission, apart from to fufill villager requests. finally, you can repeat missions, if they have a tick next to it, that just shows you've completed it. You can re-do the mission as many times as you want.
