Am I the only one who played the shit out of the old space fighting sims in the 90s but for some reason can't get excited for these? Like I had some super sweet Logitech peripherals and everything which for me was a big deal. It's why I keep reading these threads, like maybe I have an old gear in my head that could engage and get me interested. But so far no, I really just don't find them very appealing and kind of wonder when that changed for me.

Btw if any of you regulars wants to take over the US clan just PM me and we can make it happen. This game is great but I kind of just circle back to it every couple months.

I probably had the most fun in the Heide Klum Flametower. Just the Anor Londo appearance and how super tough those guys seemed when I got to them, also that's where I thought co op was really fun for me.

I read this thread feeling like aliens are talking until this post. I tried to avoid walkthroughs until I got stuck somewhere and wound up doing tons of co op. As I was mostly going in blind, I totally skipped everything past that foggy forest area on accident, and wound up co opping a ton. I had a blast until the dead end after the Old King, by which time I was SL 110 or so. Reluctantly I had to consult guides and realized I had missed Bright Cove etc plus the Gutter etc. backtracking has been a real bummer honestly and those areas were really easy and annoying. So here's a vote that going in without an area map / recommended route can be a bummer. I am all the way up to one last boss and then I can tackle the Castle, so I am also hopeful that NG+ can make me feel back on track even though I am already SM 1.5 or so.

I think that is an accurate statement. Personally I could have done without that final end text wrap up thing as well, but overall I really dug the writing.

I see this as mostly good stuff. FWIW we do use the Kinect features in my household but I agree most of them could be accomplished with just voice control. The only camera game we play is Just Dance and that's more of a rare party game. As a day one percher of the xBone I will say the thing that surprised me most was how much I enjoy having a super expensive Roku that wakes up when I talk to it. Not $500 worth if enjoy but still.

I am really having a hard time getting through the I know what to do and I can get it right about 2/3 of the way but that is just a no-mistake fight for melee.

I really loved that and hadn't heard about it beforehand - I recall being so excited that I knocked over a beer by jumping up and cheering.

Wow I just spent like five hours trying to figure out why my audio quit working. It turns out that sometimes this happens with Windows 8.1 after a restart. Ultimately got fixed by uninstalling / reinstalling audio drivers but I was barely competent enough to get there. :/

Same here. I also played it to completion (rare for me) suggesting it was among my most enjoyed games that year. I also second the recommendation to go light on the sidequesting as it could probably make the game unpleasant with how boring most are.

So I played a lot of hours of DkS but never completed (I got past O&S and the Painted World of Ariamis). So that's a disclaimer of sorts, but... Personally I found the beginning I this game pretty tough as the dual-wielding class. I decided to re-roll just because I did a bad job on that characters face and tried Knight and I have to say that at least through the Forest of the Giants, it's much easier. Overall something about this game clicks with me more than Dark Souls but honestly it just might be how much better the game runs on PC versus Dark Souls on 360.

Yeah who knows, in 2002 I was also in my early 20s and therefore kind of an idiot. I really may install that mod and give this game a go, but I have a few other games I want to get through first.

I couldn't get past the bad graphics and am hoping the Skywind mod is eventually available :/
