  1. I couldn't get into Uncharted 2 but only because I hate that camera style.
  2. Basically every console I ever bought going back to the N64 was because of the exclusives. Then again I Iove all of these systems and their quirks, honestly I have never regretted a single one. For me the next-gen exclusive pushing me towards a perch is Bloodbourne.
  3. Wasteland 2

I find it hard to believe there wasn't already a topic but anyway this shit gets real sometime in the next month. Sequel to the game that inspired the original Fallout, led by the lead designer (or something) of Fallout. The main draw here is probably the turn-based combat a la Xcom but with a lot of other variables and options that are not surfaced to you. But the writing and design are what really shined for me in my couple hours of play and youtube perusal. Anyone else getting jazzed? I am having to restrain myself from going another round as the devs have indicated saves will break when the release day update pushes out.
  4. Quantized Roguelike Chess Dancing: Crypt of the Necrodancer

    Fuck basoonist. Congrats basoonist.
  5. Quantized Roguelike Chess Dancing: Crypt of the Necrodancer

That wizzzzaaaard came from the bassoon. Thanks folks, I'll be here all week, don't forget to tip your waitresses.
  6. I basically disagree with all of this. I don't own FIFA, I own an Xbox One, and I am interested in several upcoming EA titles. Why wouldn't $30 for FIFA and some preview / discount stuff seem like a good deal to someone in my situation? Also I know that it's a given around here that Xbone is doomed but everyone thought the same of the original Xbox back then too. Xbone's future is really uncertain but Sony's salty response to this announcement makes you think they perceive it as a threat. On this weeks Rebel FM, one of those guys basically interpreted Sonys reaction as their nervousness about Microsoft being willing to step out as a middle man and pointed out that eventually Xbone could become a platform where that is a more common practice. It's not inconceivable, even if you don't agree with it. Also this doesn't seem anything like the PS virtual rental service based on my limited knowledge of two programs I have not used personally (Edited because prematurely submitted on my phone)
  7. John Muir Trail is one of those things I really want to do someday. That or go to a TeenPartyZone.
  8. I peeked in but I don't have the Twitch app on my phone and I am traveling so I couldn't join the chat
  9. Torchlight II

Someone else from the forums is playing now too, I'm spacing about who I suspect Synergies Mod is probably the standard
  10. The update has ruined my fashion souls, those extra LS and GLS casts are now critical and so I have stopped using my Throne Defender gear in favor of Vangarl's set with the extra casts hood
  11. Can you just get a wired 360 controller? They have them at all the Best Buys where I live.
  12. New people: Read this, say hi.

    Welcome!
  13. So has anyone else started in on this DLC? Man it is tough, but mostly in a good way. The one halfway-spoiler I would offer is that it's not too far between where the Rotten was and the first bonfire, just do not engage the dragon unless you are a freaking bawss. I spent like an hour just trying to despawn the first little section o'dudes there after the bonfire. I think this will be fun but I really can just barely hang with my crappy skillz. And for a marker, I'm in NG+, level 210 or so and rocking a FTH/STR build for what it's worth. Good times though! We definitely needed a tough DLC.
  14. Destiny

I thought that moon mission was pretty cool storywise. Also Am I the only one who calls the husk guys the Flood and the hub place The Citadel?
  15. Destiny

So this group event is in like 25 minutes, right?
  16. Destiny

    +1Praise the sun!
  17. Destiny

I won't sidetrack too much on to this but I buy games for lots of reasons and social interaction is one of them, as a married dude with kids who can't go out a ton. Others include curiosity (Goat Simulator), thrill-seeking (horror and racing games), narrative escapism (Skyrim) and so on. I play tons of games that are bad and skip some games that I know are good because of the roles these games play in my life. I try to be purposeful about it but definitely tend towards trying stuff out, I just don't feel any need to sugar coat or justify the mixed bag. Like objectively (or whatever) I know that Two Worlds II was a worse game than Titanfall, but I played it for almost 200 hours unlike the 20 I got out of Titanfall and remember it more fondly. Maybe Destiny will also grab me but I have no problem saying that right now it comes across as shitty Halo and I will probably buy it anyway. Just Cause series is another example, it's kind of just shitty GTA with explosions but I overall preferred those two games to GTA's last two outings.
  18. Destiny

I don't want to self-quote, but on the last page I said I will probably buy it to play with friends. I was more trying to address your request for more detail on why some of us get "shitty Halo" from this game and I think basically that reason is "because it's MMO Halo." And keep in mind this is their choice entirely, personally I think the Borderlands model would have been better here. I just don't see why, in a shooter, it makes any sense to have a Hubtown like this with other players in it? It doesn't seem to have any mechanical purpose as far as I can tell but maybe there is faction stuff there that you can't detect in the Beta. Anyway sorry but I was trying to answer your question.
  19. Destiny

@joncole it is really the MMO elements that drive me nuts. Two quick examples from last night: - a couple enemy guys stand in the door of one Cosmodrome building you go into pretty often. One particular time our Fireteam rolled up just as another group had finished killing them and were headed inside. Just as I was commenting on that, the reincarnated dudes stepped out through the door onto their own bodies. That just wouldn't happen in a normal Halo game. - it's pretty hard to take the story seriously when in the hub town LongSchlongSilver and his band of merry pranksters start leg humping me every time I go I into a menu. Super lolz I'm sure but man f MMO bullshit.
  20. Destiny

I felt the same way twmac, it's a shitty MMO incarnation of Halo. I may still buy it because my friends will play ( i do the same with CoD) but yeah at level six after five or so hours I really didn't move off that opinion.
  21. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

My random Video game thought follows. After years of playing many truly scary video games, I finally had my first Video game nightmare and it was so scary I actually woke up my wife. In fact I had about three that night and all left me shaking. What horrific game of terror inspired these chills, thrills and night sweats, you ask? Wolfenstein: The New Order. Because I am apparently both a 35 year old man and 5 year old girl.
  22. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I also kind of like the Pokemons in here. I could be wrong but I worry a separate thread may not have as much legs
  23. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I hope this thread is eventually remembered as the place where Tegan created the Pokemon master race.
  24. I hate Games for Windows Live and subsequently MicroSoft

Thanks Dewar I will give that a try and coax I necro'd this thread because the Google machine didn't quite get me a useful answer, thanks for the ideas guys/gals
  25. I hate Games for Windows Live and subsequently MicroSoft

No that is good advice. I have an xbox gamer tag I can try out.
