The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Ucantalas replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
Oh good I'm not the only one who noticed this. I don't pay much attention at the best of times, so I thought maybe I was just confused about Space being in the title before, so I didn't want to ask. -
...am I the only person who liked the Astro Boy movie? I watched it three times in theatres and own it on DVD.

If I recall correctly, before you can sell anything, you need to have made a purchase 30 days or more ago, but less than a year ago. (I can start selling on August 11th!)

Congratulations! Glad to hear nothing went wrong and everything went well!

On my last time through the Special Edition of MI1, I got stuck and used it. It was no help at all. It told me to go do something I had already done.

Haha, sorry if I worried you. I saw an opportunity to use the speech from "Taken", so I went with it.

Oh yeah, congrats Zeus! That's awesome! Ah, that sucks. On the plus side I only had to wait 2 months to find out I wasn't eligible, not 7. As for what I do... What I have are a very particular set of skills, that I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you. (Actually I am a programmer Specifically aimed at video game development. I've been finding it incredibly difficult to find anything I'm qualified for. Most times I end up applying for positions I'm not entirely qualified for, just in case. But I still never hear anything back.)

So I still have no job. I was not approved for Employment Insurance. I was denied because I did not work enough hours at my last job. I now have no other options than to apply for welfare. (Or get a job really quickly, but that hasn't worked yet.) This whole ordeal is just leaving me... I dunno. Strained. Drained. I just dont want to deal with all of this anymore, I just want to have a job I go to and make enough money to cover my rent and bills. That's all.

I had a dream where I was being trained in some sort of fighting style And I wasn't very good. So I got hit right in the nose, and it was bleeding and stuff. I woke up and my nose was bleeding.

Finding an apartment is just awful. I remember looking for an apartment for my second year of college... while I was back home at the other end of the province. My "searching" was basically just my one friend who lived down there and was going to be joining me actually going to see the places and talk to people, while I did what I could by checking online but couldn't actually do anything because I was too far away. I am terrified of the thought of trying to find a place in a brand new city I've never been to before, the thought terrifies me.

...and I finished Spaced today. I loved that show, but like so many before it, I am now sad that I will not be seeing more episodes anytime soon. Time to search out more British comedies! (Sadly, the hunt usually takes just as long as the entire run of any one series...) Yes! I love jokes that are sort of almost hidden in the writing, ones that you need to actually be paying attention to notice. Too many shows seem like they need big blinking setups showing off every joke, but I like having to actually watch my television at times.

The greatest headlines in the world (and other weird news stories)
Ucantalas replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Idle Banter
That is really cool! (Go Canada yay) -
Okay, so, a little while back I mentioned liking Black Books and one of you (Rodi perhaps? I don't quite remember) recommended Spaced. I started watching it back when the recommendation was made, but didn't really get into it. But then yesterday, bored and browsing Netflix, I thought I would give the show another shot. And I am so glad I did. It is really funny and very unique. It feels like much more than your standard sitcom, with its one static shot of some apartment or another and the occasional shot somewhere else. This show feels dynamic, and has movement! (At least thats what my mind told me while I was riddled with NyQuil.) Made it about 8 episodes in yesterday, going to continue on with it today.

I broke down and bought Hotline Miami, Binding of Isaac and Civ 5 Gold Edition. All for less than $20.

My hometown was extremely small, and only had one used book store (which went out of business back before I started highschool), so any time I would go to a city one of the first things I would do would be to seek out a book store. I have never encountered one that wasn't a major chain store or a used book store.

I assume its a p because p is next to o on a standard QWERTY keyboard, and "pwn" happened a lot when people were trying to type "own" really quickly.

Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)
Ucantalas replied to tegan's topic in Video Gaming
I'm always a little sad about how sub-par Nintendo's online capabilities have been. I just want to play Mario Party online with strangers who won't be able to punch me when I steal one of their stars. -
Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)

I got really into Brawl, much more than Melee, but I think that's mainly because I didn't own a copy of Melee at any point. Regardless, I am ridiculously excited for this. I can't wait to play as Megaman. Back when I was playing the first SSB I would always think about how awesome it would be if Megaman was a playable character. I hoped for him to be in Melee and Brawl, but was disappointed with both. So you can imagine the excitement when I first saw his helmet beam down in the E3 trailer thing. -
I'm excited for "The Tournament" by Matthew Reilly. Now, his books might not be the most intelligent or insightful. But they are fun to read and I've enjoyed every one immensely.

This was terrible news to log on and see. RIP.

Unwound Future is the only Layton game I've played, and I absolutely loved it. Part of it might have been my desire to find a game that used my brain more than my reflexes at the time (which that game did, absolutely) but I just could not put the game down. I remember doing programming for a game and having my DS by my side, closed and on standby, ready to work on the next puzzle whenever I had a spare moment. I never hit a puzzle that I felt was unfairly difficult, (although, like Tegan, I despise sliding tile puzzles...) and I was always able to progress. And I enjoyed every minute of it. The story was... weird.

...the PS2 version of Escape From Monkey Island...
