    And those people are maniacs.
  2. Rogue Legacy

It took me a really long time to beat my first boss. After that, the next one took a little while, and then the next two were fairly quick and fell within days of each other. I'd recommend using one generation to find the boss, and then use the Architect and practice fighting it with the next few generations. You'll get a feel for how the patterns work and what types of classes/spells work well against it with your play style, but of course you will hardly get any money (until the time you defeat that boss.) I feel the ability to basically go straight to the boss far outweighs the fact that you won't get quite as much money if you defeat it.
  3. Rogue Legacy

Right here. That's me in a nutshell at this point. The last few times I've played have just been grinding gold to upgrade stuff so I might stand a better chance.

My most interesting talent/hobby is probably doing GIS... stuff. Geographic Information Systems, creating graphical representations of geographic information... I had a summer job doing it for a government department, and since then it's something I like to mess around with sometimes for no real reason other than it's kind of fun and interesting. (I miss having access to top-quality software and government datasets...) So might I possibly have "Cities in Motion 2"?

... I hope you guys both get jobs soon. And that everyone else gets what they want. I just want people to be happy... So now I head off to my first day of training. And of course last night had to be the night the people in the apartment above me decided 3AM was a good time to move furniture. ...so... tired...
  7. Stick it to the man

That's what it is! I kept thinking it all looked vaguely familiar but for some reason I couldn't place it. Now that you've mentioned it, it definitely resembles Psychonauts.
  8. Stick it to the man

    Well that looks fantastic.

Just buy it the way people buy porn: Wedge it between two other, more normal magazines.

  11. I thought having Joel McHale and Tim Schafer in the same room would be awesome. ...I was a little disappointed.

While I'm sure both of those are more respectable awards, its Spike's VG(A/X) that are the sort of highly publicized "mainstream" awards show that even non-video-game people know about. It's the one that people who don't follow video games seem most likely to check out, and that's where it probably looks worst.
  13. GOTY.cx 2013

I didn't watch any of VGX last night. And I don't think I've ever watched the VGAs before. But watching that video... jesus christ. If this is what we have for awards shows... Fuck. No wonder no one takes gamers seriously. I hate to say it, but this is apparently the most public and well known video game awards... to someone looking in, this is our Oscars. And it SUCKS. It doesn't look even slightly respectable or professional. It's... ugh. I'm sorry, I'm rambling a little.

I can't lie, the thought of Reggie beating me with a stick terrifies me. Reggie terrifies me. ...I am easily intimidated.

This thread has made me realize how few games I've played that were actually released this year. That said, my favorites (in no particular order and not following any categories because some categories would just be left woefully blank anyways...) Bioshock Infinite: Very fun game, maybe not too different from any old FPS, but really well done. Of course the star of the show was (in my opinion) Elizabeth. Just... the way the entire game was an escort mission without ever being an escort mission was fantastic, and the reactions and personality of Elizabeth turned the game into something really memorable to me. Fire Emblem Awakening: Another excellent Fire Emblem game that was too tough for me to finish. On 3DS. I don't really have anything else to say about it. Mario & Luigi Dream Team: The Mario & Luigi games have always been great RPGs and this one was (mostly) not an exception. The only major complaint I have with it were some problems using the 3DS's gyroscope thingy for controlling some special moves and being necessary to finish some boss battles. The worst is the occasional complete lock up of any tilting whatsoever that will make you lose to a boss you've been fighting for half an hour... agh. But other than that, really fun. Deadpool: It's Deadpool. It's awesome. I mean, yeah, the action was good and at some points quite challenging, the weapon upgrade system wasn't anything new (purchase upgrades with money earned by beating stuff up in-game) but it worked well. But the real reason to play the game is Deadpool himself. Wacky, insane, rude... it's great.

  20. Intoxicated:

So, since I have a new job, and will have Christmas Day both off work and completely alone in my apartment, I am thinking I will possibly get intoxicated and play video games all day. This leads to the obvious question... what should I drink? Anyone have some good recommendations?

  25. Your Favourite Book This Year (2013)

This year I read quite a few books I had meant to read earlier but hadn't gotten around to. Things like 1984, or some of the Discworld novels, for example, had been on my list for a while but I only finally read them this year. But by far my favorite read this year has been "Breakfast of Champions" by Kurt Vonnegut. Mainly because, while I had heard that his work was good, this was the first time I had read anything by Vonnegut. Even better, I had picked it up at the library purely by chance while looking for something interesting to read. I've read others by him this year ("Slaughterhouse Five" and "Galapagos") but I'm picking "Breakfast of Champions" because it was my introduction to a fantastic author that I had been missing out on for far too long.
