I wonder if that guy plays video games? Eh, no use worrying, if he did the news will be sure to give an extensive list of which games he liked to play.
  2. Life

Wow, that's crazy! Hope you stay safe.
  3. Wow, I remember trying KoL out years ago, played it for a little while and then it just dropped off my radar. I'm a little amazed to see so many things being discussed in a game that I vaguely remember being kind of boring. I had no idea most of the things being talked about were actually in the game!

Apparently Coca Cola thinks its very hard.
  5. The threat of Big Dog

If there's one thing I've learned from Spider-Man, it's that this is not a good idea.

    Thats really cool!
  7. "Dew Bunker". Ugh that sounds gross and sticky. I bet if you tried to walk through the Dew Bunker you'd lose a boot, like you would in a swamp, only this one is just glued to the floor with Mountain Dew Mtn Dew. And like... you can't light matches in the Dew Bunker because its so humid. There are probably sugar stalactites and stalagmites. Ugh. And its really hot, and the more you explore the Dew Bunker, you realize the path leading ever inwards is warmer than outside... so you follow the twisting, turning corridors, hopping on one foot because your boot got stuck in the floor of the first chamber, eyes carefully sweeping the floor, trying to avoid any more sticky traps... The air around you gets thicker, denser. Sweat beads across your forehead and rolls slowly down your face, slipping into the gentle crease at the side of your mouth where your lips meet... you taste sugar. The sweet atmosphere has started to leave a sugary coating on your skin, washed into your mouth by the rivulets of sweat. You hop forward, the air slowly getting warmer. Everything seems eerily... empty. Little remains beyond a few tattered Mountain Dew Mtn Dew banners and several upturned chairs. You see what look like blood splatter across the floor, but upon closer inspection you think it might actually be a spilled bottle of Mountain Dew Mtn Dew Code Red. As you continue trekking onward, a low hum reaches your ears. On and on, every sticky hop makes the air hotter and the hum louder. Eventually you see a closed door in front of you. Approaching it, the hum has risen to a grand crescendo, and the heat is stifling. You grab the door handle and turn it, slowly, then push the door open, peering in. On the other side is a dark room. A blast of warm air rushes out, and riding the wave is a pungent yet sweet smell, a musky blast of human sweat and sugary soft drink. Initially put off by the smell, you press on and enter the room. As you look around, you realize the room isn't completely devoid of light. Sporadically placed around the room are several television sets, all turned on, all displaying nothing but static. You step forward, to get a closer look, when the door closes behind you. You hear a footstep, and then feel cold, clammy arms on you. One wraps around your neck. A hand grasps the top of your head. You feel pressure, the hand turning, moving your head to the right. The arm around your neck tightens, and your breathing is cut off. Your vision begins to go dim, and your head is forced further and further to the right. Before you lose consciousness, you hear a breathy whisper in your ear: "Triple... X... P..."

There is a certain level of nostalgia associated with swapping discs in my mind...
  9. I Had A Random Thought...

So, for whatever reason, I found myself watching videos of "Dark Side Phil", who, if you're not familiar, plays games and records himself playing them, while talking. Except... he's just really bad at them. And he complains about the games being the problem. (It maybe sounds like I'm being overly harsh, but he blames every single problem on poor game design or buggy controls... Here, I'll just throw in a compilation of him attempting to .) Anyways, while watching these videos, I thought it would be absolutely hilarious to have game devs/designers sit in with him while he plays their games. Like... seeing Hideo Kojima's reactions to this guy trying to play a Metal Gear Solid game would just be pure gold. Maybe that's just me, though.

So yeah I hear Mario Kart 8 is pretty good.
  11. Idle Food - Cooking!

Last night I decided to try making some weird tuna casserole type of thing. I cooked some pasta, drained it, mixed it with a can of cream of broccoli soup, a can of peas, and a can of tuna. Mixed it all up, and put it in a casserole dish, topped it with breadcrumbs. I put it in the oven, then I had to rush to the washroom... when I got out I forgot that I hadn't set a timer. I went to my computer and started doing stuff online, thinking the timer on my oven would go off sooner or later and tell me to take it out of the oven. Instead of the oven telling me, however, my fire alarm let me know it was done. Cue ten minutes of opening windows, turning off the oven, turning on fans, and flapping a towel in front of the smoke detector. Eventually everything got calmed down, and I got to actually take a look at the dish. The top, bottom and sides had been burnt to a crisp, but the center of it was actually still pretty good.

Yeah, beets are terrible for that. I like to make my own borscht, which requires quite a few beets. Purple doom awaits all who enter the kitchen that day.

  14. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I honestly wasn't sure because, when I went through Dishonored, I basically just went straight from objective to objective, not really exploring (except in cases where I needed to find a path to get to my objective) and just running point to point. I would feel like I kind of missed out if there were sidequests I had skipped so completely that I didn't know they existed as a whole.
  15. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

    ...there were sidequests in Dishonored?
  16. I Had A Random Thought...

I used to try keeping track of my dreams. I even had a blog that I would post the interesting ones to. Sadly, like many things, I got lazy and haven't kept up with that. But what if it was good? And even if it wasn't, it might have been the stepping stone to something actually good! I've actually just been in a bit of a drought as far as ideas go, so I was more upset about losing this one than I should have been.
  17. I Had A Random Thought...

So last night I had a dream, and in it I had thought up this perfect thing to put in a game. And it seemed relatively easy to implement into a project I'm actually working on. I was so excited to work on it. And of course I have no idea what that was (or if it was even a real thing and not just a general dreamy feel-good illusion) so now I'm a little disappointed and discouraged. Ugh.

I think its fine if you do it like, once in the trip, and don't eat there constantly during your visit. It's a pretty convenient way to see a major difference while having a comparable baseline to measure against your own cultural assumptions.

So in about 3 weeks I will finally have valid photo id and will no longer need to bring my passport out drinking with me. Yay.
  20. Cartoons!

He is also Lemon Demon, a "band" (i dont know what else to call it... he makes the songs and does the recorded versions himself but there were other people who played with him when there were live shows), probably most well known on the internet for . (I used to spend a lot of time on the Lemon Demon forums...)EDIT: Also the creator of Potter Puppet Pals.
  21. Sports

Hah! The Habs are still in it! NY might be ahead but they still have a shot! In non-hockey related points, I wanted to bring something up since cricket was mentioned above. Personally, I've found that for sports I didn't get a chance to play as a kid, the way I ended up learning their rules and how to play always came from video games (the ones that come to mind are Amercan Football and Golf). I might not have a totally deep understanding of the nuances or anything, but I know the basic rules and how a game works. The thing with cricket, though, is I don't really see any games coming out about it. Maybe it's because I'm not looking hard enough, or maybe they just don't see releases here in North America, but I feel a few games of Virtual Cricket 3000 or something would be a great way to at least start learning. Does anyone else have similar feelings on games teaching sports?

    That is amazing.

Wow. I've never gone to PAX or anything like it, I seriously had no idea how quickly tickets sold out. It's madness, I'm telling you! MADNESS!
