  1. Life

Yeah, I don't have a job either. Though there is a possibility that my unemployment may be directly linked with my laziness...
  2. Plug your shit

Absolutely true. A fair amount of them also have dialog, but both their dialog and inventory systems usually open separate menus. Lacabra's demo had an in game dialog system and though it's entirely possible he would have an inventory menu, I was curious to see if he had any ideas for an in-game solution. Not sure if that makes any sense . Also, i can't speak for E.Y.E. or Dark Forces, as I have never played either.

Yeah mostly. Being that adventure games are hardly ever first person, it's nice to see genre staples be so cleanly implemented despite, as I said, a shift in perspective. That and the carrying of the coffee cup (akin to Gone Home). Though I'm curious; will there be some sort of inventory system to carry multiple items? How do you think you'll implement something like that in first person? or are you designing with a work around in mind?

They have good Hotdogs OuO. Oh; Also a quick side note. Fuck Five Guys! The only Five Guys near me (not sure if it's regular for the franchise) has open barrels of circus peanuts everywhere (and appearently they cook with a lot of peanut oil as well) so I can't eat there. Being deathly allergic to nuts that is.

Wow. A decent amount of Canadians on here. I have very strong memories of walking into a Pizza Pizza post movie and getting a slice the size of my face. That was when I was 14; so my opinion may be almost entirely nostalgia at this point. I live in surrey/newton, so the only 'chinese' place nearby is only meh, and it doesn't deliver. Never actually been to Richmond now that I think about it o.O Sorry to say, but you like bad things. The Calgary fatburger (at least in NE Calgary, near marlborough) is alright. I lived and worked nearby for about 5 months.

Dick and poop jokes are timeless.
  7. I Had A Random Thought...

Yeah Ontario is pretty weak on Burger quality (was born in Toronto). At least you guys have some good Chinese & pizza (Pizza Pizza is pretty fantastic). In Vancouver all we have is Indian. Edit: also, Metro Van has some good food stands (eg- JapaDogs)
  8. I Had A Random Thought...

No Fatburger is a burger place a lot like 5 guys. It's pretty fantastic.
  9. I Had A Random Thought...

There actually aren't many fatburgers here in Canada, but because I live in Vancouver there are a decent amount; we're essentially north seattle.

Kentucky Route Zero is $12.50 on steam.

That is... so... fucking... perfect... I am infinitely amused by all of this

I'm kind of shocked by the amount of people who don't get the joke. Seriously? "The story also has jokes." "If the player beats the final level, they win." How are people not getting this?

I love Sean's dry silliness***. And Remo keeps their polarizing absurdities in pretty decent check. Personally, I think the cast is pretty well rounded. *** example: Episode 76 - The Three Anecdotes Edit: As for Remo's "monogamy". I think they generally attempt to 'entertain' us, and feel a heavy of obligation to us (there are obvious reasons for this). If they didn't they would just be continually unrestricted like any of the thousand gaming podcasts hosted by 3-4 friends with in-jokes. Conceptually it makes sense, but for me, there is something genuinely refreshing about their modesty.
  14. I Had A Random Thought...

Warning: I'm using this thread (in the absence of anything more appropriate) to rant. Feel free to ignore. Fuck people I'm told on a weekly basis by my friends that i'm "depressed" (inaccurate) and I need to go out with them more often. So; I decide to plan a simple voyage to go to our local Fat-burger, get beer then return to my relatively judgment-free abode. This was something 4 of my friends, isolated from each other, expressed great interest in. Tomorrow was the day we were supposed to go but now each friend has a conflicting list of scheduling demands and absurd variables (all of which were non-existent until this morning). We can't go sunday as 2/4 of them have work sunday morning, and then 2/4 also have to return for a new semester of school on monday (which eliminates sunday night through the next 5 months). This is why I don't plan things; I can't get mad at them because it's just beer and fat-burger; but it is infinitely frustrating.

Very elegant solutions for the perspective shift. Is this Unity?

Shout out to Twig for posting Miller's Giant Bomb top 10 (starting the ball to which you referred). And, sincerely, congrats Tycho. Do us a favour and beat IGN at their own game.
  17. Plug your shit

Damn dude, you got top billing!
  18. Plug your shit

wow man. all kidding aside, that's really fucking impressive. congrats.
  19. (IGN.com)

    Bigot.
  20. Plug your shit

We're laughing now, but this will end with Tycho being crowned king of the internet.
  21. 2014 Predictions!

Fuck you 2014. Stupid year.... thingy....
  22. (IGN.com)

Man tycho, you have a real knack for inspiring cynicism Now I hate IGN and their fans... Right, so for personal digression (and because I don't think i'm intellectually capable of leading this conversation) I do agree with JonCole, in that I think separating your professional opinion with your personal one isn't the true offense here (at least that's what I irrefutably agreed with from his arguments). Personally, it comes down to a distaste for the structure of IGN and their accolades being meaningless to me. It's upsetting that they see it necessary to tailor their collective opinions, but I guess there are financial reasons to continue this process. To me GOTY's do have a place in gaming; They are akin to my view on the Oscars, given by respected members of our industry as recognition for greater achievement (at least, that's what I pretend the Oscars are for). This is only a process I can participate in when I respect those industry members, which as outlined, do not include IGN or their staffers. my GOTY goes to BioShock Infinite
  23. (IGN.com)

So IGN's "Best of 2013" personally I see as being meaningless. What is it awarding if not the staff's favourite games of the year? If Miller isn't voting his favourite then what is he voting for? Edit: To note-- Gone Home is NOMINATED for ign's game of the year; what does that fucking represent?
  24. General Video Game Deals Thread

it ends friday. and WALKING DEAD SEASON 2 IS ON SALE !!!! also Rayman Legends which I hear is good.
  25. (IGN.com)

An editorial voice should account for presentation, not so much for actual opinion. What it comes down to is the question of "what is Goty?". If unfiltered you think one game is the best of the year, and in your job your view changes than what does giving a GOTY even mean? If/when I win a GOTY I would immediately question the award of it, what aspect of my creation is being celebrated? In the case of Naughty Dog, are they to celebrate that their game is better than any other game when not scrutinized (Polish of the year?)? They are then, if not that, giving the award to their fans and their staff. EDIT: Hungover atm, if illegible i'll rewrite later.
