I don't have anything real to contribute, but I just wanted to say that this is by far the my favourite thing i've ever read on this forum.

10. The Stanley Parable 9/8. Gunpoint/ Rogue Legacy 7. Papers, Please 6. The Last of Us 5/4/3. Brothers/Gone Home/The Swapper 2. Bioshock Infinite 1. Kentucky Route Zero I was having some trouble accepting this. Up until a few weeks ago I didn't even want to play this game, and Bioshock Infinite was hands down my game of the year. Atop all of that, I barely considered this game to be eligible as it has yet to be complete. With all that against it, I can't deny how amazing an experience this game has been for me. It is as thoughtful as Gone Home and Brothers, and as stoic and beautiful as The Swapper. It is a combination of everything I love about gaming and story telling all in one experience. Something I can only say about few games, the primary of which was Limbo, which is one of my favourite games this generation. Thanks to TheCineaste for insisting I play it.- 37 replies

I don't know why I've only just realized this, but I finally get how to use steam. Wait for sale. Re-Buy everything I already own. Wait a month. Trade 0.0 I'm partly joking, but if I can afford it next sale I think i'll set aside $50 for games I've already bought. If I can't find a better trade I may just give em away as a loss.

That sounds intensely sexual.

I laughed at this for quite a bit. .... I don't think this will be a problem in the slightest. Thanks for the reassurance Thumbs. I'll sign the forms and stuff tomorrow. If anyone is going to the Vancouver GGJ @ UBC send me a pm and maybe we can grab lunch.

Dammit. I just watched the first episode of Season 5 and it actually wasn't that bad. In a lot of ways it reminded me of what I liked about the first season. -Chang no longer has some stupid shtick and is back to being an awful teacher. -All of the characters are returning to when they actually had promise -The jokes are bleak and satirical again You can feel the Harmon return.I love they are adult enough to admit their mistakes (referring to the 4th season as a "gas leak year") Even with Donald Glover leaving, they're making the best of his character again. I can't speak for the entire season, but it's at least so far back to the quality of seasons 2 or 3.

Yes but don't you have experience in doing these things? I'm at most an armchair game designer with almost no coding experience :/

Sorry to repost something, but I'm still curious; Would anyone recommend joining a Game Jam if you have little/no experience? I want to join to visit their workshops, but i don't want to hinder my team. Should I go in with more experience next year, or is it safe to join with relatively low experience?

Moonshine and Steak sounds like a magical night.

YES! I knew I wasn't alone.

So I was dooped. Job was a scam. It's always nice to have your cynicism reassured.

Personally I felt 12 years wasn't very sympathy-inducing. If that is what McQueen was going for than he failed to get that to me. I saw it more as I see something like, a Scorsese or a Coen film. Shit happens, whether or not its telling a story, or evolving a character, this is a universe we've made, and this is how our universe goes. What is the moral to The Departed or Burn after Reading? There isn't one, nor is there really any universal change (except for the characters involved). 12 years did something like that, except it used an universe we recognize and one we (as a culture) regret almost indisputably. I didn't feel McQueen ever said to me "this is your fault", instead he just showed me a man struggling to breathe and said "this is how shit is [was], you can't change it, and neither can he". That being said, I don't think the film was flawless, and felt there was definitely a level of "award-bait" sterility to it.

I played a few matches with Clyde (as he mentioned) and was absolutely ruined. I have never been good at strategy games, mostly because I don't have a strategic mind, or devotion enough to memorize any one game's systems, but I do enjoy a lot about this game. It has some small quirks any indie game would, but they are pretty noticeable as there aren't many in this genre that are indie made. Nothing too infuriating... I look forward to playing the full version when I can afford it.

My most recent habit has been to drink rum straight (because fuck mixing) then play spelunky/rogue legacy while listening to hip hop. it's an incredibly weird clash of classy/nerdy/street, but it hits all of my tastes.

I have a job interview tomorrow I'm.. excited? I generally do my best to have reasonable expectations, and it seems 'reasonable' that i'll get hired (based on factors and such) but I have trouble accepting that. I can never tell if this feeling is justified or if i'm accidentally being optimistic. Either way, it's my first job interview in a while, and I kind of want it (it's bearable and pays, so it meets my extremely high expectations).

Wow man, that's fantastic Good luck!

Super 8? Cabin in the Woods?

I love that fact. It is sort of like reading a book, then afterwards studying the author's life. All the pieces start falling into place, and you say "Oh! that explains everything." It's kind of beautiful.
